and what if that meant trying to come back way too soon and do too much?

Either we couldn't find a taker... or we didn't intend on trading him. Either way he'll be a Pel when the season starts.
Evans going to have chip on shoulder. He will do fine with us this season.
keep him, let him be the 6th man of the year
It's possible that we just wanted more than what we could get. The assumption has always been that we would be willing to just dump him for space, but that may not have been true, and actually goes against everything Dell has already done. He wouldn't dump Gordon or Anderson for nothing, so not sure if he'd dump Tyreke either. Dell doesn't "give away" assets. Doing so with Tyreke would admit he made a mistake, and Dell doesn't do that either.
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. Instead of "dumping" them for something he let them leave for nothing. Everybody knows that Tyreke has no future in N.O. I guess letting him go as a salary dump now wouldn't be any diferent than letting him walk via free agency, but at least get a 2nd rounder.
I don't think it's so much just dumping Reke if we can go out and sign someone like Jones in FA because of it. I would consider that more part of the trade if we free up the $ to go get somebody. Technically we just dump him but that $ can go a long way helping us in an area of need.
We want things settled NOW....
Even though the NBA season won't start for a whole 3 months and some change.
The front office clearly doesn't think so. Which is why they attempted everything they could to trade Evans instead of having to trade a front court player and cut Douglas.
The fact that we released depth in the front court for nothing should be all the evidence needed that they couldn't find a taker for Tyreke. Especially when we have no true means of replenishing that front court depth.
I hope we keep him to be honest. Whose gonna play small forward in our small ball lineup, QPon?? I much rather Tyreke. I think we are good everywhere on this team. I think we are good at power forward with AD, Hill, DC, & Diallo. Even if we pick up someone I don't really see the minutes available. I think a combo of Hill & DC will be good till Diallo is ready which may not be as long as expected. He just needs to rebound, play defense, run the floor, and get out the way on offense lol. The reason I like Tyreke is his versatility. I don't think we were really trying to trade him or are targets were too steep.
-He's coming off injury
-His value is zero because of that
-Jrue hasn't had a healthy season in a while and at least Tyreke just had one before last season
-Galloway is new to the team and system(which should be a lot different from the triangle lol)
-Frazier is only a half a season player right now
-Buddy's a rookie
-Hill & Moore are new to the team & system
-QPon missed all last season.
-Tyreke will be the small ball 3 at least till we know QPon can play good enough
If we don't get a decent small forward back from the trade I don't see it happening anytime soon. Has anyone thought that if we get rid of Tyreke, we will not have a single player on the wing that played last year?!?! I would hope to have someone in there to help the new guys out
Assuming QPon and Tyreke are both healthy, QPon is without a doubt the better choice as a small ball SF.
The thing with Tyreke is minutes.. when I look at Jrue, Frazier, Buddy, Moore, Hill, QPon; in some combination those guys should receive all of the 144 minutes available for the 1-3 spots, not one of those guys would I want Reke getting minutes over if healthy. I can't see Reke being nothing but a locker room problem when asked to be a 3rd string.
Prediction - Tyreke balls out, we trade him at the deadline for an expiring and a 1st (because he will be an expensive re-sign), and we use his cap space next summer to bring in another big player.
