In a heartbeat. But are teams allowed to trade consecutive first rounders? I thought there was a rule against that.

We clarify this rule every three months. You cannot OWE consecutive picks. You trade the 2016 pick today. You can't not trade the 2017 pick before that 2016 selection is made and the trade fullfilled. It's a simple rule.

Conspiracy theory: we are shamelessly tanking in an attempt to use this draft pick as a sign and trade chip for Kevin Durant. Durant feels good about netting his team something, and we have a way to clear some cap space for him.
I wouldn't tank with just about the best player on your team in the league. We have a great team when healthy. Despite that we have to make changes because we can't stay healthy. Tanking is bad.
Got Durant in the offseason during NBA 2K16 for the helluvit, then didn't give a damn what we did otherwise. I did notice that for some reason Alvin Gentry promptly retired, hired Brad Stevens.
Started the season and saw we signed Hassan Whiteside, Tony Wroten, and Quincy Acy.
Team was in the middle of a 20 game winning streak at like 34-5 near the halfway point of the season.
My GOD, the NBA would not want something like that to happen.
I'd take Brandon Ingram without a 2nd thought if we had a pick 2-10
I don't know if Durant would be a better option than some of those draft picks. I don't think Simmons will go with the first pick, but if tanking meant him or someone as good as him I'd do it.
But it doesn't. No way to get a top player via that rout. Even if we try, we will get a decent pick and player

Forkan Korkmaz 6'7" SG could be our Ginobili
or
Brandon Ingram could be our Durant
Ben Simmons our Magic Johnson
some of you guys mentioned Nigel Hayes. Hell yeah.
I personally believe that we have already done enough damage, and Davis should have been playing with young talent all the while
Plus, it's not nec essary to be paying millions to everyone on our roster. Rookie contracts are a good thing and with the right pick we get to spend our money elsewhere for two or three years
Simmons is a near lock to be the 1st pick. They have some other very talented players as well like Skal and Ingram who with a ridiculous season could steal the 1st pick but even if they play better the potential that Simmons has is what will intrigue teams. I pray someone plays him out of the 1st pick if we are anywhere near that. I watch a lot of college basketball and even though it was one game I don't think I have seen anyone with that full skill set and impact on a game without scoring it's incredible. He is the 1st pick as of now on just about everyone's list but so was Drummond at one point and a lot can change but I don't see that happening. I think Skal is the only player that gives him a run for his $.
Curious to see the narrative after wins against NYK and DEN...
And the information about Reke's return.
Hopefully this thread will die and never again return.
