I think he would be the perfect fit for the Pels.
I'd trade Jonas to the Lakers for mo Bamba and 2 2nd rounders
JV is so undervalued by this team. I wont be surprised at all if he is gone, but seems likely that his replacement will not be an upgrade.
I wouldnt be overly thrilled either but being able to close out games with Allen on the floor is a massive upgrade over Nance and the reality is Cavs will want a Jones-level starting SF along with Jonas in order to move from Allen, if they have any motivation to do so in the first place. So either we keep Jones and a 3rd team gets involved to take our future firsts and Dyson or we have to bite the bullet on letting one of trey/Herb go.
Love Jonas...can't stand the way Willie has played him. But, in a 'motion offense', JV will be a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. It would be like trying to make Rudy Jobert or Dwight Howard assist machines and asking them to stretch the floor. Neither are 'the Joker'. Even Hall of Famers, Shaq and Hakeem wouldn't cut it in this type of offense.

The Hornets have extended qualifying offers today to Miles Bridges, Theo Maledon and PJ Washington to make all three restricted free agents.

The new Collective Bargaining Agreement has been signed and shared with the 30 NBA teams, sources tell ESPN. The 676-page agreement goes into effect on July 1 and runs through the 2029-2030 season

NBA teams gotta become experts in a new CBA within the next 48 hours lmao
I'm curious do we do anything in FA? Or is the only move we make is trying to replace JV?
I don’t think Green is high on him if last season is any indication so maybe we need to get a more mobile guy. FWIW I agree that Jonas is a really good player and hasn’t been utilized properly. It may not be an upgrade per say but an upgrade for what Willie wants to build.
Laugh all yal want. But I think not considering Jaxson Hayes for a larger role has been .... and will be.. a mistake. I think he hasn't played in the past cause he wasn't nearly the best big on our roster. But as a coach, one has to realize at some juncture that it isn't our year to win it all and play some of the guys with higher upsides that need further development, despite the fact that they aren't better than the others yet.
I've seen Jaxson come in and be a game changer many times; given it was usually playing pf when this happened, but still. I'd like to see him retained
His qualifying offer is $7.75MM; so, we ain't going there. The only way he sticks around is if he played for the league minimum which he probably can get from seven to ten other teams in the league. If Myles Turner leaves Indianapolis, that's where I can see him going on the cheap.
Jaxson Hayes will definitely go down as a huge what if. He has so many qualities that would make him a great contributor, just lacking the bball IQ and instincts. Which is something that was known when he was drafted. Just a major fail on the player development side, of course having 3 different coaching staffs in his first 3 years is not a great recipe for developing a raw 19 year old prospect.
The Pelicans and Garrett Temple have agreed to extend the deadline on guaranteeing his $5.4 million contract for the 2023-24 season to July 7, sources told ESPN.

The previous deadline was tomorrow.
Gordon’s waiving saves the Clippers $110M in luxury tax, per @BobbyMarks42. https://t.co/g4dEgWxymZ

$110m dollars to keep Eric Gordon lmao
Yeah. I love JV but question his fit at times. TBH, I' don't really love the fit of any of the names we could go after either. There just seems to be a major flaw to each fit. Meh.
Also, there's not a lot of sample size to go on with this but I liked the way we played the Nuggets when we had JV and Zion as a tandem last season and they are the team to beat currently. But we have to save money somewhere.
This is an updated Summer League roster for Pelicans: https://clutchpoints.com/nba-summer-...osters-tracker
New Orleans Pelicans
Dyson Daniels ? New Orleans Pelicans [Pick No. 8 in 2022 NBA Draft]
Jordan Hawkins ? UConn [Pick No. 14 in 2023 NBA Draft]
Kamaka Hepa ? Hawaii
Tevian Jones ? Southern Utah
E.J. Liddell ? New Orleans Pelicans Two-Way Contract [Pick No. 41 in 2022 NBA Draft]
Karlo Matkovic ? Cedevita Olimpija (Slovenia) [Pick No. 52 in 2022 NBA Draft]
Landers Nolley II ? Cincinnati
Liam Robbins ? Vanderbilt
Dereon Seabron ? New Orleans Pelicans Two-Way Contract
Because rosters of other teams seemed incomplete, with less than 10 players in some cases, I am guessing this will be revised as the games get started next week. A new name on this list is Kamaka Hepa, from the University of Hawaii.

The Lakers are waiving Mo Bamba, according to a league source.

Chicago Bulls center Andre Drummond is opting into his $3.3 million player option for the 2023-24 season, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.

With James Harden opting into his $35.6 million player option with the Philadelphia 76ers to initiate trade dialogue, the Los Angeles Clippers are a team to monitor for his services, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport.

The New Orleans Pelicans are declining forward Herb Jones’ $1.8 million team option for the 2023-24 season, which clears way for Jones to be a restricted free agent and for the sides to work toward a long-term extension, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 29, 2023
Locking up Herb means some tax evading moves are coming. We can't afford to pay him his extension without cutting some cost elsewhere.
JV on the move?
Oh ********! Here we go!
— Shamit Dua (@FearTheBrown) June 29, 2023
Likely a 4/$50.8M deal on deck.
But that means trades to come https://t.co/mgmBUhfvmk
Yeah, that.
nice to see some familiar faces still around here
The Pelicans declined Willy Hernangomez's team option, a source said. They also did not extend the qualifying offer to Jaxson Hayes. Hayes is a UFA.
— Christian Clark (@cclark_13) June 29, 2023
Makes sense, neither are particularly worth investing in and if we need him, we can probably just pick Willy back up on a minimum when things have died down somewhat.
it's gotta be kira going. i think they tried moving JV, but it's difficult to do when you need a playable center back too.
I wouldn't be surprised to see herb's deal come in at slightly less than the max arenas extension. but i wouldn't be that mad at the max i guess even though that's essentially valuing herb at 16 million a year because you lose out on the cheap team option year.
Hope Herb gets a nice number. His skill set can be very underappreciated by some fans. He deserves starter money.
Little surprised about Jax. Thought some GM would think they've got the midas touch and would accept him in a trade. Guess not.
Lakers letting go of Malik Beasley. For now.
The Lakers will waive Mo Bamba and not pick up the team option on Malik Beasley today, sources told ESPN. LAL plans to stay in contact with both players’ representatives throughout free agency and could find different deal structures for Bamba and/or Beasley’s return to LA

Suns will take anyone over 6'9'' with a pulse and close to a vet min salary. EuroMVP on the resume helps.
Are we going to finally go after Myles Turner?

So by this time next week, JV, Jax, and Willy could all be gone. The only surviving bigs will be Larry and EJ.
Makes me really think they would have taken Lively at 14 if he would have been there.
