I believe the differences is Gee was already under contract. The only time there's a hold on new acquisitions are matched RFA's.

and players you claim off waivers.
Bobcats seem to want to waive Hopson, but maybe we can scoop him up and get the Asik deal done. Hopson, Ely, and Gee for Asik
Gordon to rockets solves a lot a problems for both teams
Morey can match parsons without using cap space then open space again by trading him next year or if he opts out
Pels SF options suddenly get a whole lot better
I don't see any reason for them do do that
Maybe Philly will take him to reach the Cap floor they have to get to. They should be almost as bad as this year and I don't think they really want to contend.
I think I'd rather be capped out. I'd be ecstatic if they did.
Your basically just making a move for the sake of it. Would put Hou in the lux tax and they wouldn't do it for EG I wouldn't think.

But rather than overpay a marginal talent, I think they’re trying to make use of their space by talking to teams trying to dump big contracts. They can still do this post-Parsons, but then they can only take back the size of each trade exception (in addition to the players dealt), an amount close to half of the near $15 upon which they sit right now. They are scrambling to make use of that space. If you thought Eric Gordon could again be healthy, would you take a flier there? I think the risk ratio there is preferable to the upside of Parsons + the midlevel. Who can you really even get for the midlevel? Paul Pierce won’t come for that amount, I don’t think. And with as much as is made of large trade exceptions, how many examples in history can we think of when they were actually used for profit? I honestly think its better to just take a flier with the space and keep Chandler than to let it burn.
Don't really see anything in here that says they'd even consider it other then speculate as a last ditch effort. Do you really think a team will pay a guy what EG makes as a last ditch effort? Its not like he'd even be starting either. Unless they play him and Harden together. I'd love to be wrong and them do this. I just see Philly as a more realistic option based on the fact that they HAVE to use the space. Houston doesn't and probably shouldn't.
There's no reason to trade Gordon now. He's better than any free agent left that we could get. Just sign a couple vet min sfs or use the room exception on one of em. Let Gordon either opt out next season or be more valuable as an expiring. I'm glad Demps didn't pull a Morey and trade one of our top 6 players and end up with nothing but scraps.
Yeah no reason to trade EG now.
Having the cap room to get a quality SF and fill out our bench is infinitely more valuable then Eric Gordon. I just don't see why Houston would take him on their end
In my opinion, as long as we have a gap at the SF position and we're paying a bundle to 2 SG's (Gordon and Evans, both starting quality if healthy), I'd rather trade Gordon and try to pick up a starting SF and maybe a backup SG who costs less. That proposed "Gordon for Kevin Martin/Brewer" trade was deal in my opinion.
I do understand maybe Evans is better spacing-wise for the second unit. But I'd stil rather have him starting and dump Gordon. (Since I highly doubt he'd like coming off the bench.)
they are going to do one of 2 things
1) absorb parsons into cap space and use (or not) their MLE
this makes the arguably worse this year, and capped out for the future
2) use their cap space before Sunday nite then match parsons
This gives the the chance to get better, but risks the same problem as above
however...using the space now on a short term contract allows them to match parsons over the cap and gives them flexibility for the future, plus could make them better
to me this is a no brainer
if not Gordon then it will be boozer
We are 12 months away from Eric Gordon opting out and getting paid, why would we do any trade unless it's a straight up dump. We've been through too much to not see this through.
They just gave Ariza another contract. So theres that lol
rox just signed ariza 4/32
oh well
That is far from a sure thing. Unless he lacks complete self awareness, why would he turn down 15 for the year? I get that he might (and that's a big might) be able to secure a longer deal but it wont even be close to that. Sometimes a Salary dump is just a better way to go. Do we really want to keep paying him just to "see this through"?
I guess, but that's a pretty big what if. He's more likely to get hurt again. I'm just kind of tired of going through the same routine with him, ya know?
oh yeah I am just as ready for him to be gone as everyone else but right now doesn't seem like the right time. If he doesn't opt out at least he will be infinitely more tradable as an expiring; maybe even for a decent SF after we resign Asik or another center next year.
