Making the playoffs probably doesn’t move the needle for free agents, but making the playoffs does create a buzz (see Memphis). Having that buzz and cap space you can trade for guys who would otherwise wish to stay home than show up to the team.

This is huge news. Dude was listed the #1 prospect for the 2023 draft, so now I see him listed at #5 for 2022 draft, right behind the big 4: Banchero, Chet, Smith and Ivey.

Definitely a good thing to have more elite guard talent in the class.

Dont worry, he will be back again after the Pels win a game or two, calling all of the realists "haters" or "trolls" or whatever. When, again, we are realists. This is a franchise that loses far more than it wins. That is an objective fact. Casting doubt that it will win more than it loses can not possibly make you a pessimist. That is called being a realist, as you are proven right time and time again if you make that projection

If the Pels don't absolutely love someone at #8 (assuming they don't move up in the lottery drawing), I'm thinking this might be a year to trade the pick. They'll have 3 second year guys next year plus Zion coming back. What if a team was willing to trade a later pick plus a future first (or maybe more) for this #8? Then the Pels pick a toolsy guy like Jake LaRavia, and gather more assets for the future. I like LaRavia as a sleeper pick because he has 3 years of college experience but is still only 20-- the best of both worlds. And he's a Franz Wagner-like glue guy/advanced stats darling.

Worth noting that Ben Simmons is on an average of $35m a year for the next 3 years, just sat out a whole year, and hadn't played more than 60 games for the two seasons leading into it. He also can't run offense in the halfcourt whatsoever.

I don't think so.

The whole goal of an NBA franchise is to find a mega-star. A healthy Zion is a megastar. If we can possibly keep Zion with any reasonable expectation of him sticking with the team and being healthy, we absolutely will. He will get offered the max extension, in my view, and I think he'll take it, and he will be on the roster next season. Hopefully he'll be on the roster and actually playing.
