I would trade Asik for Knight. Less money owed for fewer years for Phoenix. Although I'd go after Bledsoe a lot harder.

Jrue Holiday has always been a combo guard, that has played mostly at PG. He is at his best sharing the ball-handling and distributing duties.
I will repeat that statement over and over, until everyone gets it.
Jrue Holiday is at he best when he is watching the opposing guard light him up on the scoreboard.
Let's not even talk about his cold maple syrup first step off the dribble
Why not both? Asik + Frazier + 2017 second rounder + 2018 first rounder FOR Bledsoe and Knight. Let Holiday walk, Cunningham opts out.
Excluding minimal guys like Jordan Crawford and Quinn Cook (what are those guys, less than $1m combined?), that puts us at an estimated $99,305,824 with 9 (11) players under contract (excluding Crawford, Cook, etc.) with their 2017-2018 salaries.
Anthony Davis $23,775,506
DeMarcus Cousins $16,784,031
Solomon Hill $12,236,535
E'Twaun Moore $8,445,024
Alexis Ajinca $5,186,798
Quincy Pondexter $3,853,931
Cheick Diallo $905,249
Eric Bledsoe $14,500,000
Brandon Knight $13,618,750
Jrue to me is a borderline top 15 PG that works ideally when he has a lot of other ball handlers and facilitators that can share the offensive responsibilities.
Defensively he is streaky but should be a very good cog in the machine if he is in a lineup that doesn't have any notable weak links.
But I am actually struggling to see how Jrue vs. say a Jeff Teague or Darren Collison really pushes your prospects up much, if at all with this roster and coach?
None of those attributes that you mentioned scream to run and re-sign Holiday. Top 15 is sketchy IMO but that's your opinion. I really don't see anything in Jrue that others do. I don't see stellar defense and I don't see stellar offense. He's middle of the road. On top of that, he's going to ask for a ton of money. I'll pass but to each his own.
I'm curious how much is too much for those of you insisting we need to resign Holiday. Is there a price that is too much? Or are you hellbent on resigning him no matter the cost?
What's your breaking point, if you have one?
If you bring back Jrue for more than $20m, you also need to get used to seeing more Diallo (which I wouldn't mind). Having so much tied up in our core 3 would prevent us from going after too many established players, and force us to play younger, cheaper guys more often, so Diallo would see a dramatic uptick in minutes, unless of course we keep Demps and in his infinite wisdom signs another big to this lineup when what we need are shooters, which is a total #pelslife move.
Hearing from a few people that work within the org that Jrue does not plan on coming back. They are guessing he wants to play for a bigger market.
Wondering what would be the next step after that? Assuming he moves on. Hopefully it would be some type of sign and trade so we dont get left with nothing?
It's pretty easy to say you want to come back, IF you want to come back...

I hope that Intel is correct
That is the best news yet.
Now we need to hear Alvin Gentry is gone
Jrue has been overrated since day one in this franchise. His game isn't a needle mover. His hype was due to his level of play at a young age but since he has never gotten better. But I think your value would look inflated when you are out you replacement is a fringe NBA guy. When Tyreke replaced Jrue we didn't miss a beat. It's time to move in a new direction and stop investing in past assets.
Good. The way he finished the year I wouldn't pay a dime over $18m for him. Glad he wants to go elsewhere.
As much as Demps and Gentry stressed the importance of bringing Jrue back in the pressers today, I can't imagine that's true. Maybe he's noncommittal, which would be bad enough, but there's no way they'd drop Jrue's name so much if they knew he "does not plan on coming back."
They really want to resign him. That becomes impossible if we trade him. Even if Jrue expressed intentions to "explore other options" if the goal is to resign him then having Boogie and being able to give him a bigger contract than anyone else is big incentive. Maybe he takes it, maybe he doesn't but you can't control that part.
It's possible he's undecided. They've been going way out of their way to make Jrue feel wanted and needed since the Cousins trade. But if they KNOW he's leaving, which is what the post we're replying to said, then you don't keep talking about how important he is to your team going forward.
I don't think they KNOW anything about Jrue's intentions. Which is a problem. Hopefully they're prepared for whatever happens, because AD and Cousins are an awesome foundation that should reach the playoffs next year if the right pieces, with or without Jrue, are in place.

Is the use of past tense meaningful/insightful in anyway...?
Not saying they know for a fact that he isn't coming back. Just that there are little things that have happened, that seems like he is on his way out. I do know for a fact that they definitely want him back, though.
well, if jrue dont come back,,who will be the number one target demps go after?.....
I would still prefer they re-sign him, purely because I think Dell would hurt us even more if he had all that money to spend in free agency. We would end up throwing too much money at guys even less proven than Jrue and of course they will turn up here and grossly underperform.
That's the million dollar question. We could go two different ways. Either clear as much cap space as possible and try to sign a max type player or try and trade for a player. Maybe even a combo of signing someone to the amount Jrue's cap hold was trading for a player
im going to start it off.....i predict the jazz will beat the clippers 4-1 and the fallout in LA will be bad.......we then do a sign and trade with jrue for cp3.....cp3 then talk jj redick into signing with the pelicans ......boogie and cp3 work it out and get us deep into the playoffs next season......there it is lol......
If Jrue wants to go then bye. He just has not and probably will never reach his potential. I'm thinking there have been preliminary talks, and the team isn't committing to what the Jrue camp wants.
Same thing happened with Gordon and why he was so mad with the team. But Phoenix offered a max and the team matched. I'm thinking that will NOT happen this time around. They won't offer more than a set value they have in mind.
I'd prefer Tyreke over Jrue at this point.
I'd say there is a 4 percent chance Jrue will be back next season.
