Just for laughs - who are the other Martins out there? Guys on longer, but cheaper, contracts than Gordon who are despised by their team's fans?
And as for the fear that Dell may be gun-shy about Gordon finally playing well somewhere else, I don't think that's a worry, especially in this case. We know he and Monty love Martin (although that scares me that we will have another Willie 'why is he on the court' Green situation on our hands). And we also have heard rumblings of the organization being fed up with Gordon. If he lives up to his potential elsewhere I suspect the reaction would be 'well, we know he was never going to be happy enough to do that here' rather than 'if only we had been more patient...'
Don't know if this is already mentioned, but trade machine is sort of useless right now because it still acts like we're in the last NBA calendar year, but also has Asik already on the Pelicans roster. So for y'all trying to make deals work using trade machine, I wouldn't trust it.
And come someone explain to me how we'd keep our MLE and Bi-Annual if we did the trade with Minnesota. I thought that the trade with Sota would open the necessary cap space to absorb Asik, but using that cap space would mean we'd lose all out exemptions. What am I missing?
Yes I am. I said something about I have 58 million reasons why Gordon owes us an explanation for not playing when the team doctors have cleared him and he blocked me saying "I don't listen to idiots bruh"Quote:

You have to do one of two things:
1. Take back at least 8.4 mil less than you give out - thereby allowing you to keep everything and then just absorb Asik into that exception
2. Make it a 3 way with Houston that keeps you within the 150% or 5 million rule
Do either of those things (#2 the more likely route) and you keep all your Bird Rights, MLE, BAE, etc
A little off topic but i think it's kind of funny/weird that Eric Gordon favorited this tweet. maybe he wants out just as bad as we want him out

I will not be surprised if we move Gordon but I think regardless of what people are saying it's going to be Ryno and Rivers we move. We'll resign Roberts and Morrow for the right price. We'll pick up a 3 point shooter. We need defense.

Man, we are so ready for EG to move on. Any rumor about him is going to get a dozen or more pages of discussions.
Question, is Phoenix an option? I know we couldn't trade him to the Suns after we matched, has that run out?
As stated multiple times, they don't have the same gm they had back then...meaning, they'd not be so stupid
Nah. His name is Rorrin Nadd.
Otherwise known as the Zinc Canoer.
Not as strong as the other guy.
Euthanize this thread....
The waiting game is killing me. I finally get a day off work and all I can do is listen to Motorhead, drink beer, and check HR every ten minutes to see if we've traded Eric Gordon yet.
At least money in the bank is tonight.
If this trade is on the cards how soon will we know?
Does free agency start July 1?
What do you think about this possibility? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=q3sfspl
Just speculation, but I feel like it makes sense for each team.
Golden State gets Love without taking on Martin, and gets Rivers as compensation for including both Barnes and Thompson (as opposed to just Thompson). Minnesota manages to lose Love but field a competitive squad. The Pelicans are set if they add a backup pg in free agency.
Also, its being a 3-team deal might explain the delay.
I would personally be upset with taking that back, and I think Minny would have gotten robbed, but I can't say it is impossible. We would lose our MLE with that trade, though I guess we would have two SF's, so we wouldnt really need it.
Put Green in that trade instead of Barnes and I could live with it
Everything is awesome!
Everything is cool when your part of the team!

How deep does your bench really have to be? Your usuall NBA team only goes 9 deep (everyone else sees time only in blow outs or when you go into Hack-a-Shaq mode, so you need a solid 9 guys. If this trade (Martin and Bud) you have your 9.
1. AD
2. Jrue
3. Reke
4. Ryno
5. Asik
6. Martin
7. Budding
8. Rivers
9. Ajinca
Obviously if we land a solid MLE player Ajinca and Rivers drop. But we have a nice 9.
Also, regarding the above proposal, Minnesota may like that Lee and Gordon expire the same year (in case things don't work out and they want to hit restart). On our end, I'd be willing to take Budinger instead of Brewer. We're set either way.
Yeah, I was thinking that I could stomach losing the MLE if we get 2 SFs in return. I also like Barnes more than Green if he doesn't need to start in year 1 (and he wouldn't because we could start Brewer or Budinger). I feel like Barnes should be regarded as having similar value to Rivers, but fits a need for us. Both have experienced serious dry spells and have concrete flaws, but they also have loads of potential.
Here's the difference:
1. Rivers improved from Year 1 to Year 2
2. We dont need Rivers to ever be a starter
If Green was drafted where Barnes was drafted, and vice versa, I do not believe that any person on this planet (save for Barnes friends and family) would advocate for Barnes over Green. But because he was taken #7 and has the pedigree, the excuses for his inability to be a good player never end.
Correction he shot 32%
Green is a guy who you gotta watch to appreciate. Looking at stats only just does him a disservice. Homework assignment: Try to find one GS fan who is not in love with the guy. I doubt you can do it. In fact, I would bet that he has a higher approval rating amongst GS fans than Klay
if parsons is unrealistic to most, and from what I hear so is Gordon Heywood then who besides PJ Tucker would be a realistic good fit?
((first I must declare Ariza would be perfect, he is a bit older with the playoff experience the club needs and brings the best of all of them in regards to 3's, defense, boards, and steals))
all i can come up with are
wesley johnson (same stats as PJ, much better upside, 3 years younger, but less aggressive)
marvin williams?
it's going to have to be a trade
No ur right, my buddy is die hard warriors fan and absolutely loves green, but says unless you have offensive players surrounding him he shouldnt be a starter. Says he is incredible off the bench and does stuff that doesnt show up on the stats sheet. I just like tucker more
Draymond Green could be a rich man's P.J. Tucker in a year or two. I think the front office and coaching staff would love him.
Would love either Green, GS's or Phoenix's.
Can we trade Gordon to Golden State for Barnes? How would that work?
