cant aggregate TPEs. they can take in a player that makes Jv's salary or less with it, but they can't combine it with players to add a larger salary.

HoopsHype is reporting that the Pels have strong interest in JA, and WCJ, so some of you may still get your wish.

He's okay for a backup. Nothing to write home about.

pretty happy with Theis. I'm not sure if he's a Willie guy, but he's a smart player. Could do worse for a backup.

It's more of an observation than a criticism. It's also not just this tweet but a very long history of local reportors not having any inside info whatsoever about moves the team is exploring or, as in this case, already made and never reported on it.

Guillory was taking a nap when the Pelicans made the trade (eventually) with Atlanta, thus he reported it long after others. I get it. I take naps. Might want some alarm for breaking news given you are a team reporter. lol.

I think the Pelicans were waiting to sign a big because they wanted to have more flexibility for a BI trade. I wonder if this signing is acknowledging we are less likely to see a BI trade in the next couple of weeks.

I reckon at this rate we will probably roll with the current lineup and see how it fares and sign players on the cheap. Then we will look for trades during the season and hope somebody is looking for a title push and bites on one of Ingram or CJ (potentially Murray but less likely). If I had to guess, we want to inflate CJ’s value as much as possible and look for an expiring swap. I find it hard to believe that we can get value out of a BI trade at this point. I can see us letting him ride out the season and taking a chance on FA if we can’t find the right deal. It’s about as tough a situation as we can be in. Willie has to make the most out of this roster if things come to that.

Most of the local reporters get their info from Twitter it seems. Which is where I see most of this stuff first reported.

I think a big will get to New Orleans eventually. Griff knows he can't sign a free-agent bench center and ignore a starter. That is a recipe for failure on this team. He would have been better off keeping Nance and V. and rerunning it.

Much better than Nance, but not his specialty. In 19 minutes a game, he averages about 1 block a game.

You're absolutely right. I've been here for decades now and Harvey Hornet was only person I've ever seen break something and that was before the Bensons owned the franchise. Since then we have NEVER had inside info and most of the people who do cover the team has this weird bitter hatred that comes through in their reporting.

It’s more on help defense than 1 on 1, but surprisingly he averages 0.9bpg for his career on only 19mpg. He can get up.

I’d be estatic with either. But what does a trade package for WCJ look like, what are we giving up? Bc it certainly doesn’t involve BI, can’t see Orlando paying Wagner, Banchero and BI huge salaries.

"PelicansPress" is anything but actual press/journalism. It's just a fan page and isn't a reliable source. Zero inside information and a complete clickbait account. I feel like they have duped people because of the "press" moniker.

But teams in touch with Utah say the Jazz are looking for at least a first-round pick in return for Kessler in these conversations that had gone on earlier in the offseason.

Could be asolid and young C in the starting position but the problem would be signing Kessler and Trey next off-season

I don't think I have seen so much skepticism and gloom around a roster for the Pelicans in a while. It is like the season is lost before it starts. Griffin has opened Pandora's Box by talking about his sense of urgency, but something will give eventually on the center position. At the moment there are a lot of frustrating things about this organization. The Smoothie King Arena situation, the injuries, the turnovers/lack of basketball IQ at pivotal times, and the damn lack of accessibility for regional fans to watch the Pelicans, etc. al., but the roster will be fixed. Play smart, reduce the turnovers, and find on-court chemistry and you have something.
