I'm not sure if the Kings would match. I suspect they'll look hard at it, if for no other reason than to try to deal him during the season.

If I am Dell, I sell them on sign and trade with Roberts going back to them. Get a solid young guard on a great contract and a 10 million dollar TPE that they can use in a trade. Better than paying a guy not in your plans just for the hope you can flip him or losing him for nothing

Didn't we have to wait a whole year to trade Gordan after we matched. Or is that something Gordan had put in his contract?

I don't see the Kings matching. When those meetings happen usually it comes out that they intend to match, which did not happen here. I'd imagine they said they want him at X amount (8-10 I'd assume) and he is mulling it over. At the end of the day, they may, but I just don't see them matching. S&T will end up being worked out because we have to move money and they want something in return. Win Win.

What makes you think they'd take Roberts over Vasqhez? Unless your last sentence refers to Vasquez instead of Evans. And isn't Roberts 28? Not exactly "young," but not ancient either.

Roberts is a little cheaper and doesnt have expectations of being a starter. Also, it looks like Dell is looking to move Vasquez in other deals that net him more, so he will push for Roberts and tell Sacto "It's better than nothing, right?"

You get Roberts for nothing and flip him for Tyreke the same way we did with Goose and Anderson. I love it. I can only hope they go for it.

Not exactly. We are really just throwing them in. Getting Roberts has zero to do with whether they match or not. We are throwing money at these guys and rubbing their old team on the back, it's not a straight trade.

2. Good fit or bad fit: Tyreke Evans and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Dubin: Good fit. Evans quietly turned in the best shooting performance of his career last season (though he still shot only 33.3 percent from 3-point land) and is versatile enough that he can play small forward next to a Jrue Holiday-Eric Gordon backcourt as well as some shooting guard with bench-heavy units. For a team whose current small forward rotation last season consisted of Al-Farouq Aminu and Lance Thomas, this is a perfectly reasonable move to make.

Foster: Bad fit for now. Add up last season's usage percentages for Gordon, Holiday, Evans, Ryan Anderson and Anthony Davis, and the total number is 124.1 percent. Unless the Pelicans get to play with two balls as a parting gift from David Stern, that's going to leave some folks unhappy with their touches. Trade Gordon and it's a decent fit, but it's a bad one as is.

Haberstroh: Good fit. Not a fan of the reported price tag of four years, $44 million, but as long as Evans is on board with a role off the bench and possibly playing a little small forward, I give this move two big thumbs up. Also consider the fact that Eric Gordon has an iffy health record, and Evans can serve as insurance at 2-guard. Another big thing: Anything's better than Austin Rivers.

Koremenos: Is interesting an option? Hard to say whether Evans will be a good or bad fit without seeing what his role is and who plays next to him. A Holiday-Gordon-Evans lineup has a lot of offensive potential, but if Evans balks at playing the 3, it would have probably been better for New Orleans to spend its money on someone who winds up being more than a sixth man.

Schmidt: Good fit. The Pelicans have the luxury of one of the best shooting big men in the NBA in Andersen. If any team can get away with a nonshooter at the 2 or 3, it's them. Evans will also have a clearly defined role next to Holiday that he never seemed to have in Sacramento.

They have money to spend, but I just don't see it. When they want to make a commitment to a guy they tell him we are matching the offer. They surely said they still want him, but noting came out about matching. I don't know that they want to tie up $11mil/year in him when they have an excess of swingmen. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they did...good thing about this deal is I'd be happy with it or happy without. We'll see.

And....he would still be either their best, or second best pg option.

Kings are posturing about matching to try to get a better S/T offer for Tyreke.

Tyreke is still talking with other teams because he's doing his due diligence and has a good agent. He knows the Pelicans really want him, and he's either trying to get a more favorable deal from them by creating the appearance of competition for his services, or hoping someone else jumps in and offers more money.

I hope they don't match it I really don't. I think Evans could thrive with the Pelicans and grow to the potential we all know he has.

That has been said about him before. There has been some more recent comments that indicate he may be maturing. Hopefully with a more structured lockerroom, he will not have those issues.

He is lazy on D. A guy that athletic with that wingspan should be DPOY considered every year, but he is very young and hopefully Monty can keep him engaged on the defensive end. Sac writers have said when he is locked in he can defend.

Can't speak for him but when I said I agreed, I meant expect. I am really hoping they don't match. Team would be really fun to watch next year. I also hope we keep Gordon unless we can get an elite SF somehow.

I'm surprised nobody thinks that we will roster BOTH Evans and Gordon next season, and when it gets near the deadline we will trade a (potentially) healthy Gordon for a lottery pick and a league average wing, allowing Evans to step into the 2 role. Our GM knows that Gordon is not valued right now, but everyone knows that a healthy Gordon will be a hot commodity come trade season.

I was about to say if we do keep him... I hope Ej stays... and let him run the first gaurd off the bench
