Trade Rumor: EG/Lopez for Bledsoe/Jordan

Assuming we did the trade with Clippers:

Bledsoe/Vasquez
Rivers/Green
Miller
Davis/Anderson
Jordan/Smith

...Followed by moving down with Utah, we'd have three picks and a lot of money over the next 2 years.

What do you target with those picks and that cap space? The need is clearly at SG and SF.

With that line-up we'd be in the lottery on an annual basis. If we're giving up Gordon, we for damn sure need a better option than Rivers at SG and Miller at SF plus the picks from the draft.

It's more of an obvious long-term way to do things, but I wouldn't be opposed at all if done correctly.

Tbh I don't know why ppl keep trying to get a center... For what reason?? All that does is take mins away from Ryno... I would rather prefer the AD and Ryno as the starting front court

i would take either archie goodwin or kaldwell pope and with the 2nd pick take dario saric or giannis, then next year package our 1st and utah's first to get into the top 3 and land wiggins or parker, then u are set with a championship talented team.

With Davis still being a little too light to bang with real centers in the league, someone like Deandre could be a useful body as a better rebounder and defender than Lopez, and because of his FT shooting liability at the end of games, it would open up more 4th Q mins for the Davis Anderson front court

exactly, deandre's contract is only 2 years, if he doesnt develop we could trade him after that or even trade him after a year as a huge expiring contract.

...after this trade we could sign Corey Brewer or Martell Webster at SF...and still have space for a max deal.

I like it.

It also wouldn't surprise me at all if we made a run at Kevin Martin offering a 2 year deal. Or Tony Allen.

i wouldnt wanna give anyone past their prime a contract, only short expensive 2 year deals for players who have a lot of potential like tyreke evans, chase budinger, or someone like that, but i love the deal, its gives us our PG and a center who expires in 2 years, cap space and we still have draft picks to improve, we could maybe luckout and get a very good SG this year and SF next year. if we could get mclemore this year and someone like wiggins, parker, randle next year, we would be set. We are in such good shape, not to mention the cap space we will have.

This trade actually makes a lot of sense for the Pels. They move Gordon's contract, pick-up Bledsoe, and create an extremely athletic front-curt with Davis and Jordan.

If they draft Oladipo, they could have one of the most athletic starting 5s in the league. Very Denver Nuggets-esque. They could even potentially grab a guy like Brandon Rush in FA.

They could role out a starting 5 of:

PG: Bledsoe, Vasquez
SG; Oladipo, Rivers
SF: Rush, Miller
PF: Davis, Anderson
C: Jordan, Smith

They could even go small with:

PG: Bledsoe
SG: Rivers
SF: Oladipo
PF: Anderson
C: Davis

Has anyone actually watched DJ play? He is a horrific basketball player. What's up with the TC comparisons? Other than their mutual post ineptness, such a conversation should not take place. Sure he's athletic, but what else does he do? Jesus, the man gets 10M per and Del Negro doesn't even trust him on the floor at the end of games...

Completely horrible trade. And I haven't even touched on the Gordon aspect. We're giving up the best player in the deal for a below average, overpaid C and an overrated, soon to be overpaid PG.

People have totally convinced themselves that Gordon is a cancer and doesn't want to be here so they'll throw him in any deal. I'd trade him but I'd have to get better or at least not worse after the trade. This team doesn't need anymore potential or projects. This team needs impact players. Rookies and projects aren't going to cut it.

People are going off on DeAndre, but Tyson Chandler was awful with the Bulls. Sometimes players need a change of scenery. You have to gamble on players at times. Jordan has the ability to be a better Chandler.

I'm a gambler too. A deal like this ain't out of the question. I still hope we can pawn DJ off on another team though.

First... It's the lottery. No matter what our odds are going in, you have no idea where the picks will end up after the ping balls sort out.

Second... How do you assume the lottery assignments will be late? Utah will likely be worse next year if they're relying on a rookie PG and losing Milsaps and/or Jefferson. And assuming the Pelicans are going to take a dramatic leap to playoff contention is also being optimistic. Both of see picks could/should be top 10, with a ping pong balls chance of top 3.

Some people are also convinced that Gordon is the next D Wade. Truthfully, Gordon is still a project based on his lack of leadership development and his inability to stay healthy and be dependable for his teammates and coaches.

Gordon might be the most overpaid young player in the league. If we can sign Bledsoe in a year for less than what we're paying Gordon and get 82 games and improvement out of him it's a win.

24 year old Tyson Chandler was not any better than 24 year old Deandre Jordan. In fact, Tyson Chandler was a free row liability with no offensive game other than ally oops even during his best season with the Hornets.

The best thing this team can do, in my opinion is KEEP GORDON, draft Burke and sign Martell Webster. PLAYOFFS and still have cap space.

If I had any confidence at all, or believed the coaches and his teammates had confidence, that Gordon would be reliable and develop D.Wade's leadership and talent, then I'd be 100% on board with that plan.

But he's getting paid $14+ million for the next three years and I'd rather give Bledsoe 2/3 of that salary than to gamble on a work in progress like Gordon.

Second iirc the original NO/LAC trade centered around Paul/Bledsoe (with other stuff thrown in). The clippers said no to giving up Bledsoe and threw in Gordon as a replacement. NOW we couldn't get Bledsoe for Paul but we're going to get Bledsoe for Gordon (who the clippers gave us for Paul)

They wouldn't give us Gordon and Bledsoe. We (David Stern) chose Gordon. They were amenable to giving up Gordon partially because he was an impending restricted free agent. Same reason why they might be willing to trade their backup point guard (Bledsoe) for a player that's under contract and fills their biggest need (Gordon).

Knowing what we know now, does anyone doubt that Demps/Monty might have preferred to have received Bledsoe over Gordon in that trade?

It doesn't matter if we own picks 3 & 4, Parker and Wiggins are the two best prospects since Lebron and any GM trading the chance to draft either one should be fired the second he makes it. How would u have felt if Demps traded Davis last year? Both Parker and Wiggins are considered better prospects, so why would any GM trade the rights to draft either?

Having two picks in the lottery guarantees us a better chance of getting a top 3 pick. Nobody knows who will be picking 1st, 2nd, or 3rd until the ping pong balls do their dance.

I think Clippers fans are as torn on Eric Gordon as Pelicans fans, but I think they'd mostly do this deal. Reading comments from both fan bases, it's undeniable that this trade on paper works for both teams.

There isnt a clear winner, but Jordan/Bledsoe seems like more than fair compensation for Gordon. Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, Gordon is a $14m per year injury risk.

Lopez really is just a throw in. Lopez overplayed his talent this year, but I don't think that's sustainable and I think Pelicans fans believe he's worth more than he actually is. He's a serviceable center on $5m contract. Nothing special.

Lopez is more than a throw in. He's a slightly above average starter on a very good contract. For that, he does have value around the league. As far as not being special...who ever said he was? Seriously. Find me one post that ever said that he was special.

Still lets say we get a center like DJ or even Al Jefferson. There have already been cases when DJ was fussing with Del Negro for not playing in the fourth quarter... And I doubt AL would want to sit out the final mins of the fourth quarter...

And plus with all honestly I like Ryno better starting... Did anybody notice him playing better starting rather than coming of the bench?

The thread has gone deep because the idea is that it could happen.

This thread is 10 pages because its the offseason and we are starving for any news.

I actually wouldn't be totally against the trade for one reason: it gives us an identity. We rip and run.

Jordan would be better on a team that habitually pushes the ball and gets into a running up and down game. He's a killer athlete that's kinda lost in a halfcourt setting. Ditto for Bledsoe, really. They're very out of place in LA.

But bring them here, pair em with Davis, resign Aminu and draft an athletic 2 and all of a sudden you're looking at a team that's athletic as any in the league, that can force a lot of turnovers and rack up a bunch of points in transition. Would also be pretty stout defensively.

You have a point about Del Negro but can't put too much on him. Players play... I think Del Negro AND Jordan are equally turrible.

Jordan's very limited in a halfcourt offense, and while CP3 is a magician, he likes to play a slow down halfcourt game. He's a lot better than Bledsoe, but Bledsoe's more apt to push the ball and try and turn the game into a fast break fest. Jordan probably torments most centers by beating them down the floor in that type of game.

Shabazz Muhamad - 6"8 tall, 37 inch vertical 8'8.5" standing reach

Harrison Barnes - 101.5 + 39.5 = 141 max jumping height
Shabazz Muhamad - 104.5 + 37 = 141.5 max jumping height

Looks like bazz can get half an inch higher than barnes, guess we can give the bazz cant play SF thing a rest.

Yeah, I don't buy that either are better prospects than Anthony Davis. And let's not forget Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, & Dwight Howard in that mix between now and LeBron.
