Obviously it was a steal in hindsight, but I was too fresh from those damned Peja heads to think clearly about it. The only bad deal Dell has ever signed was the Gordon match, but I think a majority of us agreed that it was a necessary evil at the time. Even that deal is looking pretty damn sweet for us right now.Quote:

I hope that contract is not so big that it influences Asik's role on the team. It's good to have a guy like him on the roster but there are a lot of intriguing lineup combinations available to the Pelicans with Asik on the bench.

5 years wth? I'm fine with 12m but not at 5 years I feel like that is way too long. If he turns out to be what he should though I guess the 5 years isn't a bad deal at all. We have a legit center who can take the beating off of Davis and will be 33 when the contract expires. So by the end of the contract is right when he would most likely start declining. It's not my favorite deal but it's not a bad one and could be a very good one depending on how he looks in this system.
