So... Do we fire Griff now or later...
Great contract for Graham, but why did we have to send them a first? We get scraps for Ball, but ship out a 1st for a worse player ? That’s just bad negotiation. Why not 2 seconds ? I guess we need to sell those. We could possibly be giving like the 17th pick in the draft which is still very valuable.
Go get Dinwiddie!!!
Haha, jokes on Charlotte, we won't make the playoffs /wrists
Yeah, very mixed bag of a deal. On the one year it's good value and cost for Graham, solid yearly price and I like him as a player in a vacuum. But giving a first is obviously not desirable and I'd have hoped for a top 20 protection instead of just lottery.
With all the players ?linked? to the Pelicans the last week or so, it?s comical not one has signed with the team

That tends to happen when you have a career 3PAr of .640, including .713 last season, and a notable creation burden https://t.co/x1IY01ARMh

Basically this.
A lot of people pointing out Graham's low FG% which of course is bad, but you have to remember that his FG% is basically the same as his 3PT% because he takes - overwhelmingly - more 3s than any other type of shot. More than 70% of his shots are 3pt shots. That's why his FG% is about the same as his 3pt% - the Field Goals Attempted are almost all the exact same shots as the 3 Pointers Attempted.
For a contract like that, we had to send a first so Charlotte would not match. This is basically half of what Lonzo got and we are getting basically the same production...
So... We potential won't have a pick at all next year. I'm sorry, but this is a fireable offense.
So dumb. Just match Lonzo if you’re going to do this.
On the plus side, Zion/Graham PnRs will be very fun to watch.
On the one hand, you have one dude who is definitely going to the paint and will shoot absurd percentages there.
On the other, you have someone who will not step foot inside the paint but will launch with even an inch of daylight and hit at a high clip.
Pick your poison.
Still, hoping there's another move in store.
Remember, Hart is still sitting there as an RFA. So something's going to happen with him, whether it's him getting retained, or just being allowed to walk, or being S&T'd himself.
Still got the MLE, also.
Graham AND Dinwiddie?
I’d take Graham and his contract over Ball and his contract all day, but giving up a very real 1st is a bad move.
devonte + zion is going to be crazy

Oof that's a lot.
Dude, Dame has to be so mad. They are now committed to even more money and the only upgrade they made was Cody Zeller at C.
Griff started off the off-season with such promise, that Memphis trade was pure gold. Today we blew it all. I'm done with him.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with the move. That FRP loss, only lottery protected instead of top 20, is galling. And I still think we need to make one more move, preferably S&T'ing Hart.
But I just think getting ready to throw the franchise in the bin at this point is a bit much :hihi:
Lonzo Ball last year (his best career year as a driver in percentage but lowest in volume): Free Throw Rate of 9.1%. Has shot 259 total FTs in his entire career.
Graham, also last year: Free throw rate of 23.6% - shot 158 FTs that season. Graham took 233 FTs in 2019-20 alone, almost as many as Lonzo's entire 4 year rookie contract.
Lonzo's career FTR is about 10% - Graham's is about 24%
Griffin just loves being fleeced when teams are trying to give guys away
You guys are comparing Ball and Graham like we gave one up to get the other. But If my numbers are right we could have kept ball, kept hart, and still signed graham with the remaining cap space.
