If Gordon isn't the one traded this offseason is a bust and Demps should be fired. And I love Demps.

That all depends on who is on the floor for the Pelicans and the opponent. Young will not see significant minutes his first year anyway. Withey even played the 4 in short spurts on occasion last year. We would still have a roster spot to bring on a pure 4 or a swing 3/4 if needed (6 front liners on the roster would not be unusual).
Again, if Ajinca's contract is needed to make the trade for Asik work, none of this matters as obviously Asik is much more important than Ajinca. However, if there were a way to keep him, that would be my preference. Young 7'2" centers who actually show some promise do not grow on trees.
I agree. I would rather keep Ajinca than not if we don't have to sacrifice anyone else. But of all the possible guys/assets to sacrifice (Ajinca, Rivers, Withey, Bird Rights, BAE, MLE), Ajinca would be the first one I chose to move by quite a bit
So I assume that until we hear of a move of some type to free up some money the Asik trade is not complete and thus dead in the water...???...
The way free agency is stagnant and everything, fans are going to freak out :hihi:
Sorry if already posted, no time to search threads.
Remember when the Houston Rockets had reportedly agreed to a trade that would send center Omer Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a first-round pick?
Well, it appears as though things are about to get very complicated.
"Now, that set of transactions leaves New Orleans $102,228 shy of having enough room for the trade."

So, did we sign asik yet?
has LeBron, Bosh & Melo stopped holding the NBA offseason hostage yet?
If MM is to be believed, which I have no reason to doubt, it hasn't messed up our moves. They just won't be announced until the 13th.
I'm just wondering why not announce now if it's a done deal. Unless, Dell is trying to the last minute to move Roberts/Smith instead of Rivers.
for anyone worried about the Asik trade after some article popped up today saying there were issues w/ it on the Pels side after the official salary cap was announced...
The news may break beforehand, but rest assured the Asik to #Pelicans move will go down right after the clock strikes midnight on the 13th.

Mason is not looking for attention. Like everyone on our site, he is just trying to help. For free, mind you. Unlike Sheridan, we don't have ads being shoved down your throats. We have had several chances to make a quick buck. Don't do it.
So, if you talk to Mason, say thank you. All that is needed.
Tell Mason thank you on my behalf, and I hope he is right.
