The rockets get our pick if we fall between 4-19. Which if we finish as an 8 seed I think it goes to them. If we finish much higher the trade moves back another year and we keep the pick. That's what makes it hard to trade a first cause it might not be for a few years potentially.
Feel free to go look at those teams schedules and tell me how we come out on top of them. We beat the Thunder with a limited Durant and with both of their stars getting back from injury. They will be a different beast in a couple weeks. They will be a different beast when we play them again on Sunday on the end of our back to back.
Portland is currently 20-6. I don't know how you can argue they are a worse team then us. Or how they will drop enough games, barring injury, for us to not only catch them but to surpass them.
Green is a utility player. He is good at almost everything but rebounding and not great at anything. We have too many specialists on our team. We need a player that can open our offense consistently and play good defense. He is three and D with a little lagniappe in that he can get to the rim if the matchup is right.
So now you answer why don't you like him?
I don't watch Boston unless they play the Pelicans but he has size and can shoot. His percentage may not be awesome but I'm assuming he can shoot well enough to keep teams honest when he is on the wing (while Reke is on the floor) and more athletic than Babbit for fast breaks. It's the same reason I'd want Wilson Chandler, more rotation options.
And Evans off the bench? How does that closing squad work? Jrue, Evans, Green, Davis and Ryno? It would be a defensive joke and I think Davis would become an odd man out with Green and Evans tendency to dominate the ball in the fourth. But I don't think Evans will even entertain going back to that role.
Have you seen our defense now. He has to be better than Babbit who is starting.
Also Green or Chandler are versatile enough to play SG if needed, Babbit or Cunningham can't do that.
He is an ultra high usage guy who is a mediocre three point shooter(32%). Only 31% catch and shoot % despite playing with an elite set-up guy in Rondo. He's a below average defender, he's not a great rebounder,(average a little under 1.5 rebounds every 10 minutes) he's inconsistent(though gotten better), he arguably lacks court vision, isn't a good distributor, and has questionable BBIQ. The teams also plays better with him off the court(that has been argued because he plays minutes with their abysmal bench so this one may not be fair).
Nothing about him screams 3 and D. He is a slasher with questionable IQ that should be a better defender then he is given his size and lateral quickness. He is like Tyreke Evans 2.0 with a slightly better jumper. and no real passing skills. Except he actually has legitimate SF size. Why should we want to give up a first for him and consider him the final piece to our longterm starting roster?
I would rather save the first round pick for a better offer or go after someone like Chandler or Green in FA and keep the pick.
First off. Someone mentioned a trade that involved sending Gordon to the Hornets Lance to the celtics and green to us. So it's not beyond the realm of possibility to imagine a three team trade that sends Gordon elsewhere and the first that Boston is looking for. Which is something that is far more imaginable. Never did a suggest we send celtics Gordon straight up for Green. I just argued that if you include Gordon in the trade somehow you pretty much have to pull the trigger.
Second to use some logic for a second.
There is no way that we trade for green without sending out some kind of salary. It was already confirmed that tyreke was not going anywhere after shutting down a few inquiries about him. And if Dell trades young Reke for a much older Green he deserves to be fired. No way we trade Jrue or asik for him, so the only plausible way to get the salaries to match with out getting rid of our entire bench is sending out Ryno or Gordon. So take your pick which one you want to send away.
I think he would be a better fit right now than gordon. I think we as fans want a traditional SF but there is t many good ones. There are a lot combo players around that size but not many are available.
We ain't trading for anyone. Anyone substantial anyway.
Anderson and Rvers
for
Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Phil Pressey.
If they wanna blow it up and get young guys playing time; might as well send Bass back home. We'd be losing a PF anyway in the deal
we get a starting five and depth, while losing The Marksman
yall are funny sometimes
I doubt anyone thought a team would take on the Ariza and Okafor contracts, let alone both of them simultaneously...so while I agree that Gordon's contract is up there with the worst of the league, its not necessarily impossible that we find a third team willing to take on the atrocity that is Gordon's contract. It is however, highly, highly highly unlikely UNLESS we give up significant value in exchange. Chances are nothing gets done until Gordon opts out (which is never happening) or his contract expires. Perhaps next year we'll have the ability move Gordon to another team since he'll be an expiring then, but anyone who sees Gordon's contract as a trade chip at this point of time is cray cray.
Gordons deal has 1 year after this. Not every team is looking to spend big next year and needs the cap space, his trade value is negative but he isn't immovable
The first 14 picks in the draft belong to teams that had missed the*playoffs; the order was determined through a lottery. The lottery determined the three teams that would obtain the first three picks on the draft. The remaining first-round picks and the second-round picks were assigned to teams in reverse order of their win-loss record in theprevious season. As it is commonplace in the event of identical win-loss records, the NBA performed a random drawing to break the ties on April 18, 2014.

Because of how weak the east is, if we make the playoffs we will keep our pick.
Gordon for green isnt too far fetched and here is why. If u are a rebuilding team it gives u a year to tank and get a good draft pick and will free up 16 million in cap the same year durant will be a free agent. Boston is about to go total rebuild mode
Keeping Green does the same thing. To a lesser extent.
If a late first is all I have to give up to clear 15 million on my cap for next year. I'm in. I've always given EG a chance and I'll root for him as long is he is on the team, but I'm ready to move on. Green or Chandler or any decent SF is icing in the cake.
That's just silly. Gordon for Green straight up is just about as far fetched as you can get. Green is a B- level asset. They can get far better offers than Gordon for Green. Worst case if they wanted to tank they could just GIVE Green away and not have to have a horrible contract in Gordon.
0% chance a Gordon for Green straight up trade ever happens.
Gordon and a 1st for Green and Bass makes so much sense. The Celtics save $3M this season and get a pick. Green absolutely is not down with the tank and is frustrated with losing. They're going to have to move him soon and nobody is giving them an expiring AND a pick for him.
They didn't get much for rondo which was crazy. If your Boston and can get a 1st for green and next year trade gordon for a first as an expiring. That's not a bad deal if they want to stockpile 1's. Granted if I was Boston the only way I'd do it is if I'm tanking and trying to load up on picks.
Boston has 18 combined picks the next 4 years, how much more do they want?
Have you not learned anything never commit to anything 100%. That way you can never be wrong.
I agree tho it would have to be a three team trade sending Gordon elsewhere like the one with Hornets or Boston shedding way more salary like sending Wallace out (maybe the blazers)
If Dell manages to get Green then it is more than likely to be pretty complicated
Green has a player option next year. If he moves, it'll probably be a sign and trade.
I think he is too old to wait for the new tv deal. He has one long contract left that's why he'll opt out after this year. Then he'll sign a 3 year deal next year which will put him into his 30's, at least that is what I would do if I was Green.
See a number of detractors. Understandable. But I think Green's faults are primarily a result of him being the...primary offensive player for them.
I mean, we complain about players with high usages like those are absolute and unchangeable qualities. We complain about not having enough offense out of our 3 spot, we target a talented scorer with tools to be good on defense as well...but he's not perfect. So he'll bring our team down?
I'm not gungho about the move. But ONLY because of the potential cost.
The Celtics didn't get much for Rondo? Really? Dude is an UFA this summer and they got a ton for him.
But, Let's follow this insane logic. IF it were possible to hold onto Gordon and trade him this summer for a 1st round pick, WHY WOULD WE NOT DO IT? Why would we trade for a guy who has the ability to leave this summer instead of just clearing the cap space, sign a FA SF, AND gain a 1st round pick?
These ideas that some of you are proposing are bonkers. They're so far gone.
It is 100%, impossible, that Dell could trade Gordon for Green straight up like Guru suggested. I would bet any amount of money on this.
Edit: trade machine not working correctly with links. Test it for yourself and you will see Green simply doesn't make enough to allow for a straight up trade for Gordon.

Jeff Green has 1000 times more market value than Gordon. WORST case scenario is they can just give him away and tank while gaining a huge trade exception. We cannot just give Gordon away.
This is the EXACT reason he will wait. Why would he leave for his last contract one year earlier? He will be 29 years old if he waits until the end of his contract. It makes zero sense to not wait before signing his contract unless he is worried about injury. He would basically be leaving 9m on the table.
Oh weird. The link somehow glitches and gives both teams huge trade exceptions that could fit both players. This isn't a correct one. I just retested. Try and trade Gordon for Jeff Green. It's impossible because Green's salary is not large enough to handle trading Gordon for him straight up.
Yeah I figured trade machine just messed up. But bottom line Green probably isn't coming here and honestly I don't want to give up anything other than Gordon to get him.
No way I give up Ryno, and def don't want to empty our bench. And lose what little depth we have.
Besides all Cunningham needs to do is develop a consistent three point shot and we have our sf of the future [emoji16]
I agree with most of this.
I'm not opposed to getting Green, but I'm not moving one of our top 5 to do it unless it's a bigger trade. If they want to take a bunch of our bench guys for him sure. But thinking trading for Green magically fixes out team is silly. We will either be weak at the 3 or further weaken our bench. We can't really help this until the summer.
As far as Cunningham goes, I really like him. Hope we are able to get him signed longer this summer. I don't know that he will ever be our long term starting SF, but he should be a great guy off he bench no matter what.
Why give up assets for a tweener forward that doesn't fill our need (defense) and will be needing a new big contract when we just signed an effective tweener forward on the cheap (Cunningham)?
This is not to say that Cunningham is the answer, but that the combination of Green and Cunningham seems redundant. I think the SF we end up acquiring should be more of a specialist player that and is closer to being a 2 than a 4 if he were to be a tweener of any kind. In a perfect world, this would be Jimmy Butler. Realistically, I'm hoping for Demarre Carroll, Jared Dudley or Mike Dunleavy to fill in the needed role.
There is no need to rush this. Realistically our chances of making the playoffs are very slim this year and even if we do make it, we're not going to get past the 1st round.
Adding Jeff Green and figuring out that chemistry mid-season for an already growing team I don't think makes this team better enough to give a good enough chance of making the playoffs to warrant the assets we'd have to give up. Just wait and get a player that won't require us to forfeit assets.
First the trade machine doesn't take into account the trade exception or 1st round picks. Boston has a 12 million exception so they can take a player worth 12 million and give nothing back. Now I'm not a math genius but 15-9 is well within the 12 million. I'm just saying it can be done not saying it's perfect. There are other players if like but if Boston is the only one willing to deal I'd do it.
As for opting out we had West opt out coming off an ACL so coming off a good year Green WILL opt out and hope to get 9 million or so for 3 more years verses just one more year.
Rondo TE is $12,909,090 according to the trade machine. this means Boston can only take back that +$100k and nothing more. This is effectively store credit they can use, from a previous transaction. It is not a new transaction. you can't combine this with another salary to take on a higher player salary.
