CP3 and Clippers

I can't see any way that he returns if he is serious about contending for a title. Even with a good coach, they don't have the pieces. That isn't even to mention that several of their best players are on their way out of the league. But where they really screwed up was giving Jordan that contract.... Bad move.

Who do you consider their best players that are on the way out of the league? The ones that would be considered heading out of the league would be in this order, imo.... Grant Hill, possibly Chauncey Billups, Willie Green, Caron Butler, Lamar Odom...... I certainly wouldn't have called them the Clippers' 'best players'. Their best players, Paul and Griffin certainly aren't on their way out of the league. I remember Paul saying something about Chauncey being his best backcourt mate since he's been in the NBA but what exactly has Chauncey done since Paul has been there? LOL. I just don't really remember him making a huge impact on the court since Paul went to L.A.

I'd say several of their 'role players' are on their way out of the league, yes.

Yeah im not buying it either. Im not going to say whether he stays or goes, but people overreact to failure too often. I would be fine with us going after Paul, but i would actually rather give a young guy a chance. Whether it is Burke, Bledsoe, Shroedder i think we are better off growing than rushing for a title with CP3. Our lineup would be sick with Chris Paul though...

Perhaps I should have said "better" players, as the Clippers truly only have 3 good players. However, guys like Billups, Hill, Green, Butler, Odom, and you could even throw Barnes into that mix, the Clippers were relying heavily on them this season as a supporting cast, and they all fell flat. DeAndre Jordan should be on the way out of the league just because he sucks so badly. The point is that they haven't done anything, but they were expected to do something. That's why they are on the way out of the league, because they just aren't good any more.

Role players like Rivers (6th man), Vasquez (trade bait), Roberts (spacer), and Miller (spacer). I even think we could get a guy like Matt Barnes to follow CP over to our team at the vet minimum. He'd give us a nice defensive veteran presence, and he can space the floor as well.

If you think all those comparisons are accurate that's your opinion but it's not one that I share. Other than Gordon over Bledsoe and EJ has missed so much time and hasn't been very sharp the last two seasons that may even be debatable. The only other that's debatable is Anderson and Odom and that's when Odom is unfocused and/or out of shape.

Yep, and to think at one time I remember thinking how I'd like to have him on this team. Surely not anymore. And I started feeling this way BEFORE this season began.

No debate between Odom and Anderson. Anderson has been way better the last two seasons.

I would say Jordan and Lopez are comparable. Jordan is much better defensively and rebounding while having a limited offensive game other than dunking. He has potential to be a Tyson Chandler lite. Lopez has more game offensively.

Jordan doesn't have the brain capacity or basketball I.Q. to ever be the player he should be. They are screaming for his head on the Clippers boards.

He shot a whopping 45.5% good for 3.7 ppg in the series, 30% FT, and 6 rebounds per game. Jordan is awful. And not worth twice the money of Lopez.

DeAndre Jordan is 7' and can jump well.

That is the extent of his basketball skills. Which aren't even basketball skills, mind you. Worthless. His career was on the way down before CP3 went there and let him have some highlight reel moments.

Because people watched him play and thought "Good lord, this mother****er has to carry his entire team because no one else can do ****."

He doesn't like the name, he wants to win a championship in Lebron's prime and the pels are rebuilding. Chris Paul was my favorite player before he left the hornets. Sorry but I don't think he will be a Pelican maybe when he is at the end of his time in the nba but not know. I just hope he doesn't go to the Laker or Rockets

Bill Simmons is a Clippers STH and is one of the hosts of the ESPN NBA show with Magic and Wilbon. I think his opinion holds more water than you think.

I think most of us know all that but he didn't actually say anything concrete in that tweet. Even he himself said "it's wide open".

EG/EJ was sharp in the 9 games he played two years ago. He also played regular 38/39 per game minutes. Not so much last year which honestly needs to be forgotten going forward. Otherwise you will make odd ball assessments based on an odd ball year. It's not debatable overall skills wise between Bledsoe and Gordon at all.

As far as CP3, the Clippers should be able to rotate in more talent to keep him happy there.

There's no doubt when EJ is "right" he's better than Bledsoe. It just that Gordon has had so many issues and those things tend to add up.

My gut feeling says Paul stays with the Clips, but it's nothing more than a gut feeling. I don't see the cap space or enough tradable assets to get them over the hump though. I could see Chris in Dallas with Howard you know the Mavs need to recover from missing out on D-Will.

CPME will be on the move again. That's my gut feeling.

I think it's too early to know what Paul is going to do or wants to do. But if you let Matt Barnes tell it, CP is recruiting him to stay. Take it for what it's worth, which, right now, may not be worth a whole lot. Too early.

Nobody knows anything concrete at this point, but IMO, there's been smoke to this fire for months. When the news came out that CP3 wasn't happy with Griffin and Jordan's attitudes or competitiveness, I figure that meant unless they did well in the playoffs, he'd leave. At the end of the day, it's still the Clippers, so the odds of them getting him to sign an extension when they traded for him were slim.

People give CP3 heat for leaving, but I can't blame him. During that time we had no owner, no young talent, was in a horrible cap situation. But all that has changed we have a great owner who got a practice facility built, something the old owner couldn't do for a decade, with young talent to put around him in Gordon, Davis, Anderson, and hopefully another top 5 pick. It is a night and day difference in this organization from when CP3 left until now, and I think he will notice.

I don't want him right now. He can come back after his next contract is up in 4-5 years when the hornets are in the thick of competition and he can get a ring in a Jason kid type role. Let him retire here if he wants but I want a young core to build around.
