This would be a huge gamble that could turn into an albatross contract if Dinwiddie doesn’t regain his pre-ACL tear form. It could be the move that builds a contender or forces Zion out in 2 years. This is the type of gamble that McNamara has been pushing for. Can Aaron Nelson and Fred Vinson mold Dinwiddie to earn their paychecks?
More: John Collins and the Hawks are NOT close to an agreement

Feel like John Collins to the Mavs just makes sense on both sides?
Dinwiddie meeting with the Wizards per Shams
I'm not totally against the idea after thinking on it all day. I do think the media types won't be a big fan of it though not that it matters. The terry rozier deal of a few years ago comes to mind as one that people didnt like much but looks alot better now. I guess when your a team like pelicans sometimes you gotta swing for the fences.
WHY HAVEN'T WE SIGNED ANYONE YET?!
Chris Farley was funny as ********. RIP.
BI is about 3 to 4 years away from his prime....Zion about five to six years. Dinwiddie, even if slightly lessened, is a decent vet to lead through those years and his explosive skillset matches well with Kira.
...like....NAW and Kira need a vet to lead them. Lowry would be perfect for that. Dinwiddie is the next best.
If my only concern is how to win next season, Dinwiddie doesn't excite me. If I'm thinking about the development of our youth, I really like him. And a three year contract fits in to where he can help us progress and then we can move on as our core is entering into their prime. He fits the timeline like a glove.
You guys know I like me some Lonzo. I prefer Dinwiddie because of this PG leadership for Kira and NAW angle.
Lonzo Ball has agreed to a four-year, $85 million deal with the Chicago Bulls, CEO of Klutch Sports Rich Paul tells @TheAthletic @Stadium.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball is landing on a four-year, $85 million contract with Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade agreement, his agent and @KlutchSports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN.

And Woj adds that it is, indeed, a S&T
so who the sign and trade is for with lonzo?...who we getting back?......
side note..lavar spoke the ball brothers on the same team in existence lol...
Per source, veteran guard Garrett Temple will be going to the New Orleans Hornets on a three-year deal, with first two years guaranteed at $5 million per.

maybe?
We’ll regret losing Ball.
The Chicago Bulls are sending Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple and a second-round pick to New Orleans for Lonzo Ball, who's signing a four-year, $85M contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Conley gets his $20m+ a year also
Free agent forward JaMychal Green has agreed to a two-year, $17 million deal to return to the Denver Nuggets, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Deal includes player option in Year 2.

Pretty good value for Denver here
the heat are giving butler a max contract so does that mean robinson is out?...
Boooooo
Surely there is more to this deal
I guess we'll see what we do with the cap space to know for sure. Feels like a loss, now, but if that space is filled with something good.....I dunno.
That is a joke of a return on Ball. Nothing good to say about this from NBA channel. There has to be something else in mind here (expiring contracts?)
Now to sit and wait to see what else we do.
Tomas has a 10mil expiring which is fine, Temple was an UFA though so wonder what kind of coin we threw at him.
*Constantly leaks that we won't resign Lonzo*
*Lonzo only want to go to Chicago *
*Leaks intensify*
*People surprised we got table scraps instead of nothing *
Have we not seen how Rich Paul does business? He always sabotages trade value.
I'm fine with Tomas. He's as good a player as Hart, and he's expiring so he doesn't bog us down with bad long term value.
Similarly, I don't expect Temple to get any real playtime.
The question isn't ''am I excited by these individual players in a vacuum'' because that's not how these kinds of decisions are made. In reality we had three main choices with Lonzo.
1) Pay him $20m+ a year.
2) Let him walk for nothing
3) S&T him for any value we can get.
We did 3. I think that's the best option, because I do not think Ball is worth $20m a year and losing players for nothing sucks. So what did we get back in the S&T? Well, $15m of extremely tradable salary including an expiring, and a second round pick. $10m of that salary is Tomas Satoransky, who is a good and productive NBA player - just as good as, for example, Josh Hart, who will probably cost more than $10m this offseason, so that's saving us money elsewhere as well.
Do I think it's a magical move of genius that makes me thrilled beyond belief? No. But I'm fine with it, and am willing to wait to see what else Griff does before having a tantrum over it.
Garrett Temple
LSU LSU LSU LSU
The contract is meh, but those two players aren't going to cut it for me
Well free agency just started
im just going to assume that rich paul does not want his good players here...so matching lonzo offer would have been a bad thing for us...
I'm starting to believe that David Griffin was brought in to sabotage the organization
We traded Ball for two people who can’t even shoot. Griff is trash man.
