Who should become the first person to be drafted to the pelicans?

First post in this thread. I want Burke and I don't care if we have the 1st overall pick we need this kid. He just single handedly won that game for Michigan

Just saw the highlights, and Burkes is coming along.

Burke hit the shot when it mattered. But even that long 3 wasn't as impressive to me as the couple of times in OT he took it to the basket and split the defense. The long 3 was a miracle shot, what he did in OT was carry a team.

Shame McLemore didn't get the ball in his hands with the game on the line. He had some good moments in the game. I'd be happy with either.

Burkes shot was a 25 footer not 30 btw at least that's what espn is calling it

I didn't watch the mich game. But he was 9-21. I see 10 assts and 4 to. I know he sent it to OT. But what makes this game so special for him. I'm a fan so don't take it as bashing. Just wondering

Trey take those shots all the time (and has received some criticism for it as well) so to say that's a luck shot just shows a person ignorance to Burke's skill set.

He rose to the occasion when the game was on the line.

It was entirely in the second half and when the game was on the line he didn't back down from putting the game on his back. What you don't see on the box score is his drive and kicks and facilitation tonight.

He scored all his points in the 2h and overtime. He single handily carried the team into the next round. Simple as that really. They were down 8 with 1:20 left.he then started ot nailinga 3 to give em their first lead. Mr clutch

0-4 first half, rest 2nd and OT.

I would take Withey in a New York second. That kid isn't going to be amazing, but he isn't going to kill you when you throw him in with the 2nd unit. His def is what pays the bills, and guys like Pryzbilla, Thomas, Collins, etc. have made careers just as Withey will.

Not even close. Don't see anything I like in him. Not saying he'll suck, but eh.

I wouldn't say that he is Noah, but his problems early on we're that he wasn't strong. The guy got pushed around, and so Self went with stronger guys. Withey dedicated himself to getting stronger and not getting pushed around. Because of that his defense has come through. He is a throwback center. He isn't a high flyer, but his defense is what you are signing up for. In short, take him and you 2nd team def is fine.

If we draft a Center I want a low post scorer, so we can play inside out and high low with AD.

Isaiah Austin would be intriguing if we were in that range.

But fletcher said we wouldn't draft Burke. Haha. I like his skill set. If we can't get smart, porter, oladipo I want Burke.

Numerous times Burke made huge shots tonight, guy has the clutch gene. Reminds me of a poor mans CP3, just put his team on his back against a 1 seed

Burke had a nice game, but he really has to thank Elijah Johnson (and Bill Self) for boosting his paycheck next year. If Self had used Tharpe/McLemore/Releford at the end of the game, we would have played better defense on Burke (as we did in the first half when Johnson was on the bench and Burke went 0-4) and not made so many silly turnovers and decisions on offense.

Johnson was just too slow to defend Burke. Michigan realized that and started calling all sorts of plays to take advantage. Self didn't realize that and left Tharpe on the bench. That was the game, in a nutshell. Our poor coaching let Burke do his thing, and it was entirely preventable. We beat ourselves.

We could do a lot worse than Burke in the draft. I wouldn't mind drafting him at all, especially mid-lottery where we'll be. But his defense worries me. Is he a big enough upgrade to improve our team on that side of the ball? Keep in mind that our offense is already above average, and that's with a still-developing Davis, a 75% healthy Gordon, and Aminu (enough said). Our defense is putrid and needs help.

Not true. Withey will rebound and defend much better than Lopez could ever dream of.
