22 points career high if i looked correctly
22 is his career high in points.
His career highs in rebounding are so much better. 23 TRB there.
e: Kurgan's link is better and easier to use.
Any points Asik gives you is totally lagniappe.
Exactly. I could care less if he scored 5ppg. What he does on the glass and in defense most certainly makes up for whatever points he may not score. But with all the distributors on our team, I don't think it will be hard for Asik to get some easy dunks. Kind of like what Steamer was supposed to bring.
I can tell you this much, losing Steamer and starting Asik our offense certainly isn't going to get any worse, so I don't know why people are freaking out about this. The cap hit for Asik is only like 8 million right? Centers are criminally overpaid in the NBA anyway so if anything he is actually on a pretty great contract for the service that he provides.
Well since they already have a two proven franchise changing player they aren't as desperate for the third. We have our owner telling our GM to win now. Is Morey under that pressure? And even if so he still has a much better team than we currently do. Sure he would love to turn Lin and Asik into Anthony and/or James, but if not they are still viewed as a lock for a first round home playoff series and still viewed as a team that can make a deep run. Even after this Asik deal we are likely just still fighting for a playoff spot. I would say that the overwhelming amount of pressure lays with our front office not theirs.
As for Asik's asking price naturally it went down. He only has one year left under contract. So that's a push in my mind. It's the same principle of being food on clearance. Sure it's cheaper but, it also expires sooner.
I think we gave over just the 10th pick just this past draft because teams wanted to be bad or at least didn't care as much last year. Plus of the 9 teams that finished with worse records than us only 3 were in the West. The bottom 3 teams all in the East. I get your point that we should be much improve just by the virtue of not looking like an episode of Mash. However I expect ever team in the West to be almost just as good to significantly better barring their own injury situations.
Ok I get it.... But idk much about hill but isn't he undersized, okafor is hurt and he was terrible when he was with the the hornets plus undersized as well.I like Blatche but isn't he a 4, dalembert is old as cheese who can't really rebound, and I like hates especially his range but he defence is terrible but also he is about to sign with the clippers so that's that... But all in all we should be happy with what we have... We have a defensive center who rebounds exceptionally well... I rather be down just a small forward than to be down a small forward and a center... Plus AD won't have to take a beating like he usually do against opposing centers... And gonna say it again we are definitely a playoff team just look how we match up against everybody....just saying
Just had a look at some Asik video on youtube, he's a real classic centre. By that I mean he's not an athletic freak, isn't super quick or have guard-like skills, which shouldn't be a big deal for us on offense. curious with the defense though, he's not as quick as I'd hoped, if we still end up practise hedging defense will this become a problem for him as he might not be able to recover in time.
I believe on P&R defense Asike makes up for his slower feet by hedging strongly. He blocks the guard's path allowing everyone time to recover.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong
Omer Asik headed to New Orleans, per source. Paperwork done July 15.

Those two franchise changing players can't get out of the first round. I think Harden is he most overrated guy in the league. Plays ZERO defense, and in the playoffs it's harder to get to the line and that's where about 1/3 of his offense comes from. He disappeared in his only finals appearance - on a team in which he was clearly the 3rd best player. The fact that he was 1st team all-nba is a joke.
he probably thinks chandler parsons can't jump too.
Asik is very light on his feet. It's kinda uncanny. People that big in general don't move so well.
Another fun thing about him is little wasted motion. Very decisive and knows what he's doing at all times.
My concern with Asik is his horrendous free throw shooting (it's Shaq like). Hack Asik?
