1. and 2. are literally the same thing, and of course he's not perfect, but I think he's make great strides in that department lately. He's been pretty ok on forwards/wings, moves his feet well enough now to at least stay in front of guys. That's really all I can ask for at this stage.
3. No, he doesn't. Give me at least a recent example of him consistently getting beat backdoor. Again, he's not perfect, but SVG has his players roaming off ball on d A LOT, they have to cover a lot of ground on rotations, naturally young players are going to make mistakes trying to track man and ball at the same time when they're required to help so much, but regardless he hasn't been godawful in that department. It's not like he's the only guy that falls asleep off-ball from time to time.
4. and 6. are bull. He averages 3 fouls per 36, and has never fouled out yet in the NBA, but somehow he's always in foul trouble :hihi: Reaching and picking up cheap fouls isn't something that's exclusive to him on this team, and that's to be expected with youth anyhow.
5. is also wrong, he's been one of the more active and engaged players when it comes to rotations, if anything the problem is that he overhelps at times.
The last sentence is garbage and I'm going to ignore it.
Ingram actually driving now and not kicking out. Keep doing this and feeding Zion and Josh Hart on 3s and we win.
BI playing smart tonight. He's a max player and that doesn't neccessarily mean scoring but rather elevating your teamates play. He's doing that so far.
I like to see that the ball is in Zion hands more often now.
Zion is str8 up dominating this game right now.
No matter timeouts you call...you do not have anyone to guard Zion. STOP IT.
JJ doing the only thing he is good at: flopping like a **********. Whatever.
Edit: He heard me. lol
Apparently the Grizzlies have woken up JJ.
So JJ apparently got the sense knocked backed in him
Geez, I'd have thought with Zion in the game, the pels would be down by at least 40. I mean, how could anyone win anything with a player that plays absolutely no defense
We own Memphis
The Pelicans just match up better with the Grizzlies no matter what. I wish they could match up with everybody else like that.
And I said, sure, he can get caught ball watching, but I generally don't think it's to an exorbitant degree, both within the context of players his age and the players on this squad. And that guy I was arguing with literally said he's a train wreck defensively, it's right there in the thread.
Ingram just bodied that dude with a crazy block
Nice win!! Only player to play more than 30 minutes was BI. Bodes well on a back to back.
Do we still get free fries?
MM where you at ?
Can we petition the league to play the grizzlies every other game?
Sooooo good to see Kira take more and more of Bled's minutes, even with the caveat that Bled was pretty good this game.
So. Zion is firmly #1 in NBA history in scoring through his first 50 games. And it sure as hell isn't on volume.
But he'll be nothing special tho. I'm told.
good things happens when zion,,gomez and hart are on the floor together....
good game pels...
Lmao at you once again calling it a fandom thing. You realize I was genuinely quick to criticize him when he was absolutely awful defensively earlier in the season, right? But god forbid I make the claim that he's improved from that point, god forbid I point out the progress he's made, god forbid I don't scrutinize every little mistake he makes on D and conflate that with him somehow being this imaginary 0 effort, 0 IQ player that sinks every lineup he's in because he provides nothing on that end, according to you :hihi:. Go sit and spin, seriously.
Like, we win in dominating fashion, and for some reason the conversation for you is, "Zion is a train wreck defensively." Really?
Zion: 31p, 7r, 6a | Ja: 28p, 7r, 8a

FROM @EliasSports: They are the first No. 1 and No. 2 picks from the same draft with 25 Pts, 5 Reb, 5 Ast against each other since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Neal Walk did it on February 26, 1972.
Zion Williamson is now averaging 23.6 PPG on 60% shooting through his first 50 career games. Among players who debuted in the shot-clock era (Since 1954-1955), Zion Williamson is the first player to average 23+ PPG on 60%+ FG through their first 50 career games. #WontBowDown

Now I got it.....
If you deem it appropriate, you will call him out defensively...and it's even okay, if I call him out...but it's got to be on your terms.
Nobody, least of all me, denies you your ability to point out anything you want to point out. It's you, son, who wants to limit others' thoughts and observations.
Bottom Line: if you are satisfied with his defensive play...that's on you.
Good win, felt like Zion closed out well on Anderson on some of his corner 3 makes, not gonna hold that against Zion. The team looks so much better with more drive and kick happening. I think as things evolve more we're going to see Ingram dribble drive less and post up more, and vice versa for Zion. Ingram just doesn't get calls when defenders bump him off his drive and Zion can get by his man easily without needing any switches.
Points about Zion being the best scorer (in the 3pt era, at least) ever through 50 games are all true and great and everything, and God knows I appreciate them, but I feel like putting this ''within the first 50 games'' caveat on things downplays a little bit how great Zion has been offensively.
So far this season he's averaging 36.8 points per 100 on 65.5%TS. Here's the list of players who have ever done that before for a full season.
- Joel Embiid (this year)
- Stephen Curry x3
- Amare Stoudemire (2007-08)
That's the entiiiiire list. This is historic scoring in terms of the balance between volume and efficiency, for any player of any age.
