If it helps us resigning Boogie, that increases the value of Rondo.

We also don't have very much playoff experience and Rondo has played significant playoff minutes and is an NBA champion. It's also hard to judge this in a vacuum without knowing if anything else was really available. It's easy to throw out guys like Ian Clark, but Clark may have no interest in coming to New Orleans on a one year deal for what the Pelicans are offering.

Who knows.

There are worse PGs in the league than Rondo.

Why can't he not like Rondo as a basketball player? Are the national writers who don't like him on the court letting their emotions get in the way? Probably not. It's probably okay to accept people have different opinions. In fact, this would be a great time to try and figure out what it is about Rondo that he doesn't like, or why the fit would be bad for us.

No. It actually has everything to do with his skills and basketball. As a person he seems hyper intelligent and funny. And connect 4 is dope. However, he has never displayed a willingness to take on a lesser role on a team without throwing the locker room into disarray. And he commands no respect from outside which will make our already cramped spacing even worse. And he hasn't played good defense in years, he's somehow still riding on a reputation that he hasn't earned in 5 years. And the ball sticks in his hands more than anyone this side of Westbrook and Harden. And his effective shooting percentage the last few years was around 45%. That's astoundingly bad. He can't finish, shoot from 3, or hit ft's.

Please don't forget that we hired Finch for a reason. The ball belongs in the hands of our big men and our guards should be able to play off them. Not the other way around. JAMEER NELSON looked incredible last year playing in an offense like that around Jokic. Now multiply Jokic by 2. Rondo serves no purpose on the court with this team. Sign a stopgap that plays his role if we can't get anyone else this year. But don't sign someone contradictory to the type of basketball would should be playing.

I'll take it, I just get the feeling Gentry is going to lose this locker room and this season will become the 'Cousins and Rondo play for contracts show' while AD and Jrue just cruise through the year.

History is not going to remember that we talked to Swaggy P, Talked to Detriot about Jackson, and tried to dump Asik in the middle of a Melo deal we weren't getting any assets from. History will remember what was DONE. Any GM can call up any other GM and talk, means nothing.

Who will feed our bigs? Who will attack the defence & create? If Boogie is up top with the ball creating (per finch) who's gonna double team him there? Does that heart our spacing? Did Jokic have a AD on his team? Boggie can get more assists but we still need his low post offence or no? How many points does AD get on lobs? Is Rondos defence better than Tim Fraizer?

I never said he was a point guard. I said that the point guard in our system has a different role to fill than the one Rondo can adequately provide. Jrue can absolutely play respectably at either guard position and has shown a good chemistry with AD when both are healthy. If we have to play this season with Moore as our starting 2 it wouldn't necessarily be ideal, but he's a more than adequate contingency plan.
Also, who said the only place to create from is from up top? Did you watch any Nuggets basketball? Because they put the ball in Jokic's hands all over the court.
The rest of what you said is hardly intelligible, but whether its through a trade or signing (or just staying put with Moore) we have much better options than Rondo.

There has been a massive amount of selling going on around the league and Dell hasn't gotten anything done. That's what I mean by sitting on his hands. He may have had a few ideas he was pushing to other GMs, that's just speculation. The fact is that other teams were very actively looking to move pieces that could have helped our team and Dell lost out or didn't bother. He had an 8mil MLE to use that he could guarantee a player a starting role at SG or SF with and couldn't get anyone, now hes signing a guy off the back of Cousins' work/recommendation who has a long history of being in the middle of team drama.

Like I said, I'll take it, but Dell just isn't looking like hes well received around the league. The only reason we got Cousins was Sac's vested interested in acquiring Hield. Nothing to do with Dell's ability as a GM.

But it is not certain.

His last deal in Chicago was for 13,4 millions (3 millions guaranteed).
So he earned for the 2017/18 season 3 millions already.

During the season teams wanting to tank will want to part with good older talent to get younger but worse to lose games. Then there is next off-season. IF we were to sign Rondo, it would be nice to have a high bbiq player who can feed the bigs. shooting is not something you would put in the plus column. I think the real question is the regular season motivation - he is a smart guy, he needs to challenge himself and the team to perform together. Whatever it is going to take to work night in and out. Being that the team has two big stars and real potential, could it burn a few internal embers that this could be a real opportunity to do something? A locked in starting unit of rondo/jrue/hill/ad/boogie on the defensive end alone would be a nightmare to deal with, but that takes hard work. Whether he even comes on board is the first question, getting ahead of myself haha.

There's a difference between "not doing anything", and "not getting desired results".

He has not been "sitting on his hands", as you put it. The deals that he was trying to get done... he hasn't gotten it done. That doesn't mean he has not been doing anything.

In your words, Dell has been out on the beach chillin while other teams have been making moves. That's not the case. Dell has been trying to get things done, but he has not gotten any results from his work. The reason could be many.

He could be turning down moves because he feels we may be getting screwed in a trade.
Or a player may be asking for too much money.
Who knows? He's not gonna make a move just to satisfy you. He's gonna do what's in the best interest of the Pelicans.

Its been reported he has been trying to get things don, but I wouldn't say that he has been "sitting on his hands".

I'm not gonna put Rondo in a Pel uni until he actually signs.

Dell has never sat on his hands at anytime as our GM. I think most will agree on that. His criticism by most is that he tries to do too much. Personally I like his activity because he will blindside you sometimes ala boogie.

It has nothing to do with defending Dell. You're wrong and instead of just accepting it you dig in further and deny. There is a reason multiple people have stepped in now to correct you.

How many players have we heard about Dell talking to? How many rumored trades is he working on? The way I understand it is that Gentry's still running his particular offense. I mean, Finch came up with the Jokic offense because Jokic is awesome and can play that style. And Cousins can run a similar style...

I agree theres going to have to be a lot of pick n roll offense when Boogie is off the court. AD is probably a better passer than we give him credit for since hes been #1, #2 and #3 best option on offense for so long and we haven't had great cutters. But I can see problems with Rondo, Jrue and Hill starting games as far as spacing goes. Defenses will live with Hill or Rondo shooting wide open 3's and I don't think they'll be efficient enough to punish it. Our best shooters are Moore and Crawford and they'll be fighting each other for minutes or playing out of position.

I think (hope) Frank Jackson is gonna be productive for us sooner rather than later.

That is a COMPLETELY different argument than Dell has done nothing. Not allowing Jrue to walk in free agency has a drastic effect on the team whether you agree with the move or not.

Ok, we get it, you're pleased with our GM for retaining a free agent. I think the Pels GM should get more done at this critical juncture. Thanks for sharing.

I for one would be really happy with Rondo on a one year deal. Checks a lot of boxes for this team:
+tight with Boogie which increases trust with him to re-sign here long term

+championship and playoff experienced veteran player (have to have a least some players who've been there before)

+true floor general pass-first PG. Point-Center Boogie is a cool element of the offense they can incorporate sometimes, but having a PG who can get everyone involved with a deep intuitive understanding of game flow management would be a big plus

+Frees up Jrue to mainly focus on scoring on offense and more energy to lead the defense

+has just enough crazy mad dawg streak along with Boogie to give this team an edge that's crucial to winning teams (Dray, T.Allen, etc.) And this team has enough of a good nice-guy lock room and staff to balance him out and keep him in check

+he will probably be motivated to make it work here, best team situation he will have been in since Boston champ teams, with two mega stars who compliment his skillset and a real opportunity to go deep in the playoffs

Do agree that 3 point shooting of supporting players would be even more crucial now. Jrue, Solo, and Moore (and Crawford and Cunningham?) will have to be really dependable from 3, and ideally one or two more 3-point specialists (Dudley, Barbosa, G. Green, Speights come to mind).
