Iggy but you have to consider the salaries. We could get Evans and still have GV to flip for another piece.

6'4 without shoes for Tyreke, 6'5.25" with shoes.

I would rather Evans as a 6th man playing all 3 guard positions. But No telling what Monty or Dell want to do with him.
Maybe I'm overthinking it. I'm still getting the feeling that Gordon could still be here even if we sign a guy like Evans. And if you do a sign and trade with a RFA, you may be able to get him on a better deal than trying to outbbid other teams. It probably doesn't make sense if we get rid of Gordon but if we do decide to keep him, it makes it very crowed back there.
I think I like Iggy at the 3 better and a healthy Gordon at the 2 better.
I realize the latter is a mystical creature.
If Tyreke has improved his jumpshot to an average level I'd take him and his reduced price over Gordon. But I want a shooter at 2 next to Holiday.
I also liked the idea of having a great defensive backcourt, and we know Evans doesn't play it.
i really don't think reke could play the 3 on this team, mainly because gordon is already 6'3". it helps jrue is 6'4" but thats still giving up some serious height at the 2 & 3
so in what was possibly AFA's last game as a new orleans basketball player, he had 16 & 20.
...just to be "that guy"

Article about Tyreke's move to the 3 around when it happened.
He really isn't good off the ball at all.
Did he change his name? I'm just wondering because I don't see a post from him in this thread. Did Hornetguru faint or something? LOL!
When did we become such an awesome team? It's like we are looking to add all the players I would love to add to the team! I am totally loving this offseason thus far.
Andre Iguodala
Tyreke Evans
Chase Budinger
Chris Copeland
Kevin Martin
I don't want Evans. And something tells me after their meeting with him, Dell and Monty won't want him either. Iggy please.
What worries me is his ability to play with Jrue. Evans isn't a 3 point shooter and can't really space the floor for Jrue. Their slashing abilities overlap and both require the ball to function well.
Jrue is actually a more than serviceable 3pt shooter. People don't touch on this. He doesn't just do the kicking out. He can actually have the ball kicked out to him and knock the shot down.
Jrue is very rare player in that he can do a little bit of everything. He can shoot. He can pass. He can defend. He can rebound.
I think he can really make our team better.
If they want Evans to replace Gordon there has to be another move made for the starting lineup. There is no way they go through all the trouble to get Jrue, only to flank him with Evans and Aminu. No way.
This is perplexing. Have to be for him to play the 3 or come off the bench.
If this guy will come for a lot less than Iguodala, I say lets take Evans! If he's meeting with us, then he must not mind playing the 3. This bench talk is crazy! If he comes here he will be the starting small forward or we will be moving Gordon at some point. I would much rather Evans and another cheap 3 that can do what he can not. If we can get a bigger, rebounding, good shooting defender for cheap to be his backup, then where do I sign! Add Tyreke Evans and Earl Clark instead of Andre Iguodala and Darius Miller as our two main small forwards. I like the sound of that!
Well... we know for sure that Gordon won't play a full season, so we'll need a SG that can step in and start. I think Iggy will return to Denver anyway, so I don't mind Reke at SG and guys like Webster, Wright and Copeland to play the 3.
Agree, Evans would be a pretty bad fit. At the very least our SF needs to be able to shoot or play lockdown D, which Evans does neither of. Considering he's not very good off the ball and we already have 2 ball dominant guards better than him, potentially a 3rd guy stepping up to be a scorer in Davis, and Evans would have to play out of position...yeah giving the $$ he will command to a guy who does not fit at all is a terrible idea, and us going after him doesn't make much sense
Why would you not want the extra shooter/defender instead of using our cap on a completely unnecessary 3rd scorer/ballhandler who cant space the floor and who's style clashes with our 2 best players. As a 6th man, sure but we have Rivers coming up, and Ryno & maybe Greivis off the bench
I dont think I have a better b-ball mind than Dell, or even Jeff Bower or any NBA GM really, but pro GMs have made tons of mistakes..Im sure Dell has his reasons but outside of being a 6th man, which I kinda doubt Evans would accept, I cant see how it's a good fit

As @ESPNSteinLine reported, Pelicans will meet with Tyreke Evans late tonight. Told they will have an offer sheet in hand--a big one.
:O
wow!!! This is exciting!!!!
This better not mean the end of Gordon then.
Oh boy.....
A big offer sheet? How big is big?
WOW!
I love how we are the only team mentioned that is pursuing Evans. We get first dibs on the free agent I kind of like the most. He is still young, extremely talented, and may come here on a deal that won't break the bank. 20-5-5 is unheard of as a rookie. Lebron's shot wasn't the greatest when he first started and is starting to get a whole lot better. At least he is working on it and his form looks a lot better.
Any idea where they are meeting? New Orleans or Sacramento?
If my computer weren't kaput I'd record something.
"Oh no! The Pelicans are interestered in Tyreke Evans and Andre Igoudala? What does this mean? Could this mean the end of the Incredible Glass Man? Tune in next *insert period of time* for the exciting conclusion!"
