The issue is that the two deals (Rivers being let out of his contract is one and Garnett for Jordan the other) appear contingent on each other (and in reality are). So, now they have to divorce each deal to give the illusion they are not contingent.

I just got an email from a friend that says the subject on Scott Van Pelt's podcast is that CP3 is saying that "He demands the Clips get Doc or else he won't resign". Can anybody confirm that?
So glad we don't have to deal with this crap anymore. I don't want him back.
But the Clippers’ stance raises questions about why they would include an asset in an earlier form of a proposed deal — one that turned out to be against league rules — and not include it in a deal that could work. “The Clippers want to make an effort without really having any chance of getting it done,” a league source said. “Chris Paul’s camp wanted Doc and KG, and [owner] Donald Sterling and the Clippers did not. But they can’t come out and tell [Paul’s camp] that they don’t want to win, so they’re trying to dance around it and play both sides.” Boston Globe

League sources said, though, that if it was the Clippers’ intent to only give the impression — in other words, bluff — that they were trying to make a deal for Rivers, it’s unlikely Paul would re-sign. “I don’t see how that could possibly work and would not bite them in the [butt] with public relations and Chris Paul,” a league source said. Key in all this, league sources added, is Sterling has been reluctant to part with assets, such as the first-round picks, and is wary of paying Rivers a high salary when the Clippers could pay another coach less. Boston Globe

“Sterling, he’d rather die with billions of dollars than have a championship,” a league source said. Another league source said the chances of any deal being completed between the teams were slim. Boston Globe

Doc Rivers never planned to be a part of the Celtics’ rebuilding process, and the club was basically aware of that fact when he signed his latest contract, a source told the Herald yesterday. Boston Herald

That person further insisted the coach did not initiate the process that may yet send him to the Clippers for compensation, though that possibility seemed to be growing more distant last night. The Celtics have stated consistently that they want Rivers to remain with them and that he has been discussing with president of basketball operations Danny Ainge how best to transition the team with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in their latter years. That is so hard to read :hihi:
I stopped after the 2nd paragraph lol
CP just saw his buddy win 2 titles in a row too??? Good luck Clips!
lol
He's the best PG in the league. He wants to win. He has been with two very poorly run franchises so he is trying to get his teams where they need to be for him to win. I don't understand why people hate the guy so much. He played his a** off here. Put yourself in his shoes, why would you not want to improve your team. People sound like nerds who got dumped by the prom queen. Get over it.
Also, "I don't want him back...?" People would take CP here in a heartbeat if he were considering it. I don't understand why any Pelicans' fan would not like the guy.
It's like holding a team hostage when these stars demand things. Glad we are out of that mess hopefully AD doesnt turn into that type.
Ding Ding!! He's done this twice. Both times it was for the team to improve or he will have a problem. I'd do the same if I were a player. They are maxed out money-wise right now so they need to make moves. That's what he's pushing.
What Howard did is holding a team hostage, this is not.
I cant say Chris Paul is squeaky clean in all of this mess, but he has been forced to deal with two very miserly owners. Its hard to look at him and say i hate the guy for trying to make his team better; hes giving the Clippers every opportunity to keep him. The guy wants to see some progress.
This is the last time Chris Paul can make any demands and have leverage guys..
Geez, let's just get it over with. CP3...go play with Lebron so you can guarantee yourself a ring.
Chris Paul is all about Chris Paul and his loyalty level is a big fat ZERO. Ask him how he treated his former bodyguard and others who worked for him down here. The media gives this guy a pass as the humanitarian of the year but once the media is out of the room CP3 is the equivalent of a guy kicking dogs and old people because he doesn't care about anyone but himself. CP3 will never win a ring.
Sterling is a dope, CPME is well CPME. I'm glad we don't have to deal........wait we have Eric Gordon. Well I'm hoping the best for E.G. and if we re stuck with him then he better live up to the hype THIS SEASON coming up.
He agreed to go to Clippers, so he knew what type of owner he was going to.
It's hard to take anybody serious who says they want to win and want to play for the Clippers in the same breathe. Paul left because he likes LA had nothing to do with winning. Now his confidence may be so high that he feels he can win anywhere, but Sterling may be on of the worse owners in league history.
he got traded to the clippers, big difference
yes, he agreed to the trade, but in reality it was either that or stay here
not much to agree to there
now he finally has leverage and can choose his team
i dont blame him one bit for taking charge of the situation, and will be happy for him if he bolts to a better situation
i'm sure all 29 were interested
what would you have done if you were him?
wait it out and roll the dice, or accept a trade to a team in LA with a former #1 overall pick
i recall no other serious offers other than the lakers & clippers
if you know of others, i'm all ears
