Lol okay. People agreeing on a conflicting point= teaming up against you. And we're the children. He was talking about your attitude, not the literal words you used in your response. And it's an attitude shared by a number of posters here, he wasnt targeting you specifically. No need to take offense. Take the advice or leave it.
You said that Okafor would be good on offense and AD would be good on defense. There are people on other threads who were discussing how good ADs offense is, it's not out of the realm of possibility that you were implying AD's offense wasn't good so when you start with "oh brother now I've heard everything" I don't think you're starting off with a tone that is conducive for a conversation. As for being a crybaby, if you're saying that me having a position of "hey, you're acting rude, be nicer" is being a crybaby then I'd again say you're part of the problem here and please rexamine your life.
I don't post often, but I 100% agree with this. I think Okafor is the best realistic scenario for pick 6. We are all SUPER excited to actually select someone at 6 since we haven't made a first round pick since 2012. But, if we can get a 20 year old center who averaged 17 and 8 you do it without hesitation. He is guaranteed not to bust. A team in our position (lack of assets) needs to make sure we get real value from our pick. Every last player in this draft is an unknown in the NBA and will have a weakness. We know for a fact Okafor can ball offensively. I've heard alot of people say no to the idea of trading for Okafor, because of defense. Which is obviously a preference, but also a legit cause for concern. But, what I don't get is the thought process that he can't improve at 20 years old. What has shown you he can't improve? His one year on a glorified D-League roster? He has decent foot speed and has shown flashes. Watch his match-up with Towns this year, the potential is there. And for everyone questioning his fit with AD, please tell me who would be better fit and better overall player that we could put next to AD realistically. Would you settle for a lesser talent if you perceived it to be a better fit, like a Noel?
Jabber lets just end it here. My bad if u took what I was saying wrong but I'm not trying to bicker with u over basically nothing lol. We were talking ball and it was all I'm trying to do. Basically someone saying AD isn't good at offense would baffle me and that's all I meant by it. So let's just drop that part of it dude.
Yea I do not want Noel. His offense clearly isn't going to improve and everyone can see that. He will never have a jumper. It's just so ugly that it can't be possible for that thing to improve lol. Anyways in the NBA tho. Better offense will always be better defense. Plus I love how thick Okafor is and can be a force for years to come under the basket.
"Didn't know you could predict a 20 year olds career and how much he can improve. Maybe you should be in an NBA front office." -kclayboy504
Okafor is the exact opposite of a good fit on offense for AD. You can't just say "he's good at offense", and leave it at that. Okafor is good at one facet of offense, and that is low post scoring (co-incidentally the type of scoring most devalued by modern trends in the NBA) that also happens to be literally the only NBA skill he has. He is a sub-par rebounder, and has very little jumpshot to speak of, with unspeakable defense. I just watched a whole season of seeing AD be less effective as he is pushed out to the perimeter, and have no desire to see more of it. Getting Okafor would clog the paint and ensure that AD spends even more of his time on the perimeter, wasting much of his potential on offense. Unless you want to see AD turn into Chris Bosh-lite, spending his time sitting around the three point line, I'd give Okafor a pass. In addition to that, I don't see how you can say that Okafor has a chance to improve his defense, and Noel has no chance to improve his offense. Noel has good hands, and become quite a threat as a roll man, as well as a jump-shot that has improved every year he's been in the NBA. Okafor doesn't fit this team's supposed to philosophy, and he for sure doesn't fit with AD at all.
I was just being facetious on Noel's offense cause his shot is so ugly. Nobody truly knows the future but Okafor averages 18 and 7. I'd say that's not a bad rebounding guy. Rookie year he's grabbing 7 boards a game. Also I can show you plenty of times Pkafor has nice touch for a mid range-short jumper off the glass. It's pretty sweet actually. I'm just of the opinion I'd rather gamble on Okafors defense under Erman rather than Noel's jump shot
It's not just about the defense, although that is a major factor. Okafor will always operate in close proximity to the basket and stop the ball. That's just who he is as a player. Okafor being close to the basket will inevitably push AD out to the perimeter, where he is far, far less useful and dominate. I suppose if you think Okafor's max potential on offense is greater than ADs, its all OK. I, however, believe that AD has the potential to be much better than Okafor could ever hope to be on offense, and it is simple fact that acquiring Okafor would considerably hurt that potential. All of that alone, in my opinion, disqualifies Okafor from being a target, saying nothing about the defense (which does not help at all). Also, just by the way, Okafor's TRB% was 12.8, well below the average for a player his size, as well as being an at-best average rebounder in college.
Tonight is the night Buddy-mania will reach NOLA! I'm predicting Hield will fall to #6, opening the door for the Pels to select a future superstar in the making!
Okay, enough optimism... I am fully prepared to embrace whoever the pick is at #6 if it's not Hield, Dunn or Murray. I have a feeling Bender could blossom into a terrific stretch four down the line so I wouldn't mind it if the Pels took him. After that, the only prospects I like are Chriss, Poetl and Valentine.
Expecting at any second a trade and we lose the 6th pick. Even if we selected at 6 I'll have to wait a day to feel comfortable that we are keen on keeping it.
I'm not as worried about a trade before we are on the clock. I think any deal we have in place is dependent on who is still there at 6.
Also, if someone wouldn't mind PM'ing me a stream link once this thing gets started I'd appreciate it. I cut the cord last year and it hasn't been an issue at all (heck the NFL streamed their entire draft with commentary on NFL.com) but it looks like only ESPN is airing it (and I don't get ESPN 3 through my ISP).
If Kris Dunn's gone at No. 5, Minnesota's Tom Thibodeau has Oklahoma's Buddy Hield next up on Wolves' board, sources tell @TheVertical.
Murray bout to fall into our laps
This is my preference for what happens tonight for Pels:
1. Murray
2A. Trade for Russell
2B. Dunn
3. Bender
4. Hield
5. Trade for Okafor
...
500. Brown
What do you guys think?
