story on MM's tweets
I hate this trade, bradley is very overrated, while he is a good defender his offense is absolutely terrible. Rather bledsoe x100000
It seems like anyone can make up a trade rumor and post it and as long as you are not posting a rumor about trading Hilton Armstrong for LeBron James, you will get at least 3 pages of analysis from everyone on here.
The only rumors people need to take seriously are the ones that comes from the reliable big name media.
When you talk about a high profile team like the celtics and a high profile player like Gordon, you would expect it to hit the national guys before it reaches the local guys or even bloggers.
Except Chris Broussard...his you have to rethink before believeing it.
But you are 100% right. If there is a rumor that is legitimate, it will be a professional journalist that will come out with it.
And in this case, if there is a trade to be done involving Paul Pierce, i am 95% sure that the Boston media will get wind of it before some dude in a tshirt and boxers posting to Pelicans Report.
Some sites even ban these kinds of posts. If you post a rumor it has to be backed up with a link to a legitimate news organization.
if avery bradley, anthony davis, and victor olidipo played on the same team....picture the defense
This story made it all the way to Bleacher Report, wow! As to the others, does McNamara throw out a lot of crazy ****? Yes. But he's not being a troll. Just calm down. The guy means well.
Bill Simmons (who, unlike Jimmy Smith, does have Celtics sources) spent a lot of time on his podcast with Zach Lowe discussing a Gordon for Pierce deal. He never mentioned Bradley (did mention their 1st rounder), but from the way he brought it up and kept on the discussion, you could tell a Gordon/Pierce framework was something that the Celtics have talked about.
Gordon for Pierce and their first would be disastrous.
I had dream of us moving Gordon and/or Vasquez for a high 2014 lottery pick. Just gotta find the right team. In other words, a grade A sucker. Hm. Like, Charlotte or Washington
Also, everytime I look at AD23forMVP's sig it makes Davis look like he packed on like 20lbs of raw muscle. I wonder if it's prophetic in any way. :huh2:
I'll take Pierce. Not sure if he'll take me.
It's also funny to watch people defend their initial knee-jerk reactions in the face of ever-growing information.
Not necessarily. Bill Simmons love to speculate about trades. He loves discussing real and fantasy trade possibilities. He writes whole columns multiple times a year about trades that have happened or should happen or could happen or are even never a possibility. Just because Simmons dicsusses it does not mean there is actual official discussion.
I'm curious..what did he think about it, because he has said many times that EG's contract is one of the worst in the NBA.
Our contracts have made his columns several times. EG's is one of his worst. Vasquez's deal is one of his best. Lopez was on his honorable mention list of good contracts, calling him a "decent cheap center". On Ryan Anderson he has kind of been all over the place. In one place he called it one of the better deals, a little high on the dollars but with great value from the player. In another column he insinuated (didn't say it but kind of suggested it) that in a vacuum it is a bad deal, except that Anderson puts up numbers that every team would kill for. It is certainly a contract that has his attention. I think he thinks that Anderson is slightly overpaid, but the kind of guy it is worth you overpaying for.
I understand all that, that's why I mentioned about the way he brought it up and continued discussing it...it was dramatically different from one of his "so and so trades their first round pick for Boogie Cousins" let me throw this out there hypotheticals. This was different and more substantial than that, like he was trying to talk himself into the reality of a) trading Pierce and 2) taking on Gordon. It wasn't hard to read between the lines that this has been discussed by Boston, especially with the earlier info from MM.
He seemed to begrudgingly be interested, hoping to unload a contract like Terry, Lee or Bass along with Pierce. Talked up Gordon's run with the Clippers at the end of the season before the trade.
Do i need to repost my Mike Singletary clip...

A this point, even worse than being an unreliable teammate because of his frequent injuries, Gordon has shown coaches and management zero growth as a leader. Look at the guys Loomis and Benson give big money to on the football side. They're leaders. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the organization is ready to trade Gordon for cap relief and an asset. Essentially taking a mulligan on last years deal Phoenix forced them to sign.
I think we can do better than a late pick from Celtics. But I'd definitely do any trade that allows me to reinvest the $14m I'm paying Gordon into another player that will be a reliable contributor and leader.
I'd rather pay Iggy, Tyreke, and a handful of other player $14m or less, than pay Gordon.
I'm wondering if it'd be a three way trade with the Clippers. Pierce has been linked to LA all year.
Maybe (just throwing it out there) it winds up being this...
Pelicans Trade: Eric Gordon
Celtics Trade: Paul Pierce, Avery Bradley
Clippers Trade: Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan
Pelicans Recieve: Bradley and Bledsoe
Celtics Recieve: Gordon and Jordan
Clippers Recieve: Pierce
*Shrugs*
