Based on what? This guy just got healthy for the first time since he has been here and what issues has he caused? Being injured from day one? Signing a max contract with another team when we didn't offer him one? He has done nothing wrong in my eyes.

Having big money sunk into a non-productive player (if you aren't playing because you're hurt, you aren't producing) would be quite the hindrance to the team's future. He's only healthy now. Reasonably so anyway.

The big idea is that "Oh, wait until we have him for a full season." Which I bought into this time last year when he'd only played in like 9 games. Then come next November, he's out indefinitely. Not going to be suckered in anymore.

If we aren't fully committed to him or Gravy, if there are any doubts, move on ASAP. Both's value can and will depreciate over time if the same reasons persist.

I'm with you on that but I consider this year to be a continuation from last year since he never fully recovered apparently. So I'm willing to give him more time. The injury did get us another top 5 or 6 pick so it wasn't all bad.

What if Gordon plays a full season next year?

Now hold on because I know that it's a fool's chance of happening, but his value could be at a all time high with his age. The only thing is he is a almost guaranteed 20-game absence a season it feels like.

This was not a healthy season for Gordon. He still missed a significant amount of games.

Whether or not you or I feel Gordon has done something wrong isn't the question. The question is will his situation help this team moving forward. For this answer to be a yes EJ has to

a) Stay healthy something he hasn't been able to do.
b) Accept the organization and city.
c) He must have his level of play and consistency matches his contract.
d) He doesn't opt out and/or be willing to sign another contract with this team.

If any of these things go wrong we are in a bad situation.

Really only a and c are important. If those two are true we are without a doubt a better team so why would he leave. And even if he does he earned his contract and we really have nothing to feel sorry about. And we still could get full market value for him if he playing that well. I understand there are questions and concerns but I don't understand the need to get rid of him after we are just starting to see what he can do.

I might be in the minority but I think the better Eric plays less chance we move him.

I don't want to rush and trade him for peanuts this offseason. I think the smartest plan of action is to listen to offers and if something sounds good take it. If not keep him. I don't want to trade him simply because he was injured in the past and might be injured in the future. His value will be highest next year before the trade deadline, so I wouldn't want to move him for a bad deal this summer. The risk is worth it.

Heck lets be honest. The hornets are going to only REALLY start competing on the tail end of his contract anyway. Worst case is we take a risk holding him and we are stuck with his bad contact two extra years or less. I don't expect us to have a team ready to compete until after next season anyway.

If Gordon isn't happy here why would he stay? If he opts out we will only have him for two more years(provided he doesn't force his way out before than).

1st this assumes we will be winning. 2nd we have witnessed several players in situation where they were winning and still wanted out of town. We were winning when CP3 left. Lets not act all naive like where players play have no bearing on there decision making process.

Well if we not winnings than everybody will want out. And maybe I should say contending cause while we were not a bottom feeder when cp left we were no where near contention and we all knew that. Name one player making max money on a contender with other good players getting good minutes that's unhappy?..... Don't worry I'll wait.

Man this is so tough. Can't say I didnt see this coming. We all want him gone until he reminds us of how good he can be, and how he's exactly what this team needs... I say trade him if the value we get back is legit, but if not we should hold tight and hope for the best. But I just don't think I can handle another season of waiting for the team to be good, I'm sick of making excuses. It's time to focus on building the team around AD, no more drama, no more excuses... Im ready for some winning Pelican basketball!

I agree. I don't think Gordon balling out increases his value all that much. His injury history will always prevent getting full value, so if he is going to play well, it might as well be with us. I'd like to move Gordon, but I think Vasquez is the more pressing concern.

gordon for deng straight up? if he was 2-3 years younger i'd do it without blinking but at his current age I wouldn't.

Also if everyone is so concerned thinking Gordon doesnt have value because of his injury history how did monta ellis, someone who averages 21-6-4 get traded for andrew Bogut? someone who has an even worse injury history than our own Eric Gordon

Think we are blowing this out of proportion, why would dell demps, one of the best GM's in the league and a beast at player evaluation, give gordon a max contract knowing his injory history? Because there are only a handful of player in the league that can shoot, score, facilitate and defend. Gordon's trade value is plenty high!
