Yep, with the minutes Aminu got this season of course he put up some numbers. Most players with those minutes and freedom could do that! The ball has to go in some of the time for the guy wide open in a game of 5 on 5. Nothing spectacular in my opinion, and you can see how Miller could easily do that, and unlike Aminu maybe on a more consistent basis. There is an Aminu on every NBA team right now. Bye Bye, don't you dare overspend on this guy!

Just imagine. Aminu's length and athleticism with Darius Miller's general competency at the entire spectrum of the game.

He'd be some kind of wunderkind, uberminch like that James fellow in Miami. Why can't the fusion dance be real?

I'm pretty sure he is referring to the Non Bird Exception, but that would only apply if the team is over the cap. As long as the team has cap space they can sign Aminu to whatever they can afford.

I'm not sure why people are worried though. People keep talking about upgrading the position with guys like Brewer/Budinger/Chandler all in the $4-$6 million range. If there are about 3-5 guys that are seen as upgrades to Aminu expected to get about $4-$6 million, why is Aminu going to get this big payday that the Hornets can't afford? The middle class is getting hit pretty hard by the new CBA, if you aren't at the front of the line you're not getting much.

That's just it. You're really selling him short. You can easily get a better shooter, but you are unlikely to get someone that gets his amount of rebounds, steals, blocks, FT%, overall defense and athleticism. Despite being a poor shooter, he has respectable FG% to boot. He's certainly not irreplaceable, but he is a better asset than you are giving him credit for.

GMs drool over athleticism. I don't think he starts anywhere from FA, but I don't think he starts with the Hornets next year, either, so he will go with the money.

I think 3.5 is about right. I wouldn't be upset if the hornets paid that.

If this be the case, then Dell did lose this one. But I still trust him and expect a corey brewer/ martell webster type of signing in his place.
But heck, why give Aminu starting minutes at this point in the season? heck, the 'tank' should be on now, no? And those doubting his bball IQ.... it is high, he's young and yes shots like his do start falling. Heck dorell wright, martell webster, corey brewer were all quasi-bust at his age.
vince carter's shot is better, barkley's b. bowen's improved yada yada (it's a high and a high release and will start falling when defenses start respecting it....... for some reason players like him need that defender running at em whereas the shot is more muscle memory than age

I love all the Darius Miller love after one game. He's already been moved in the starting slot SMH. Here's the theme on this site, let's trade everybody that we don't like for players we do like regardless if they help us win or not. The Hornets are not a farm system. What's the sense in working with Aminu to make him better if the bigger picture is to just let him go? If Aminu can shoot free throws as well as he does, his jumpshot is fixable. I say resigning Aminu is a high reward low risk gamble. If his floor is what we see today, I'd be ok with that. We'd have a great defender and rebounder off of the bench. If he works on his jumper over the summer and comes back a 15 pt 8 rebound guy, Dell would look like a genius.

It's not accurate to say this board loves darius after one game. It has been a constant: "Darius Needs Minutes" message from this board. Miller finally does get minutes and delivers. It's only logical for people to swoon over the idea of that game becoming a normal game. However, I don't see Miller as a starter in the league. He's a nice bench player because he won't come in an turn it over, and he makes some beautiful passes.

Darius has shown poise, intelligence, and good decision making since he was in the D-League and then later called up. Aminu just has the "HE'S A FREAK OF NATURE LOOK AT HIS ARMS!" feel.

You are correct sir. D Miller is a bench player. We shouldn't get caught up in the moment. SF is a position of need but I am against the letting go of a talent and replacing him with a player that's not an upgrade. Every SF that's popular on this board, in my opinion, is not an upgrade over Aminu. Those guys are shooters but they lack everything else that Aminu has. Like other posters said, get a quality PG here and Aminu is the starter here until a really better option comes along.

Especially since we have been scoring 90-100 pretty often since the ASG. Our offense is fine, we need a better PG and C for defensive purposes

I'm thinking 3.5 is fair. But I think he is going to get more. NBA General Managers spend like its monopoly money in free agency because there is not enough talent to go around and they all are trying to save their butts.

I'm not the only one that thinks this. I thought I was a minority there. People wanna go bananas over their Websters and Brewers and Budingers. Meh.
