Yeah I doubt it would be easy. I just like that he's a big that can stretch the floor. In addition everyone gets abused by the Joker but he's at least girthy enough to be serviceable against him.

Murray and Zion are both ball-dominant offensive players that operate mostly inside the arc. A well balanced offense would add someone into the mix who is an elite deep shooter and can play off ball. We have 2 guys that fit that description: CJ and Trey Murphy. BI is another ball-dominant player who operates mostly inside the arc.
7 3s a game last year from Murray
Now, we are the only team who could possibly be intersted in Lauri;)
Things are heating up with Ingram trade talks. :hihi:
Vegas odds Ingram gets traded this week? Better later then never?
I'm getting very nervous now we won't find our trade partner for a starting 5
Jose to Paris, GG GTA
I watched a clip earlier today that included 2 local guys (Christian Clarke? I think and another guy), and they were talking about why BI hasn't been moved yet. They both feel the Pels will need to move BI... The guys said that BI and Murray won't work/fit together for various reasons, mainly they both need the ball in their hand, and neither can play off the ball. Wouldn't be a good fit for both of them AND Zion on the court.
Whether they trade BI or not... the state of the center position as of now is trash, and the guys mentioned a few options that the Pels had to solve their center issue(s). Wasn't really earth-shattering info that they gave... we've discussed it all here on PR, but just for shiggles...:
Trade for Jared Allen
The guys brought up some analytics that said the Cavs worse lineup included Jared Allen and Evan Mobley on the court at the same time, and that Evan Mobley played better as the 5 when Allen was out injured. They gave other data but that stuck out to me. They feel that Cleveland needs a wing scorer (BI) and allow Mobley to be the full-time 5. They think Allen and Levert for BI should be the deal and the salaries would match.
Trade for Wendell Carter Jr
The guys brought up the fact that pretty much every big on the roster got a new contract EXCEPT WCJ, and the Magic will more than likely look to trade him.
Trade for Deandre Ayton
The guys feel the Blazers wouldn't really need BI because they have young wings that need to develop, so Ayton may NOT be an option unless we can get a 3rd team involved.
Sign a trash heap center out of free agency
If for whatever reason we can't trade for a center we have terrible options for free agents. No need to waste time naming them, but they all suck.
We have a lot of time to fill out the roster, so I'll just wait to see what Griff can do.
I defend BI so much to counter the ridiculous negativity that gets thrown at him but I would be stoked to see him traded for Ayton. Our offense would be well spread out and solid at every level. Woof.
Also, keep in mind that with that JV trade exception we can now trade TMIII and Hawkins for Jarrett Allen.
Just my opinion but I think TM3 is not option to trade. His game fits better with Z and Murray, and he'll get paid way less than what BI will get. Better fit for less money just make sense. I think they would trade Herb before TM3... and I don't see them trading Herb either.
If they cant pull off an unforeseen trade to turn BI into a starting center, I think we will start seeing more small ball minutes with Zion at the 5. It's not a bad idea depending on matchups, and it would allow Trey and/or Herb to get on the floor.
Alright! Everyone back to work! The holiday weekend is over. Essence Festival is over. Back to work.
Daniel Theis
Free agent C Daniel Theis has agreed on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, sources tell ESPN. Theis, who?s entering his eighth NBA season, will lead Germany into the Summer Olympics. https://t.co/fhOkSAHzoe
Here is one of the cheap options at C. I would hope the other is coming in a trade.
I mentioned him to Dae a few days ago. He's not a bad cheap option.
HoopsHype is reporting that the Pels have strong interest in JA, and WCJ, so some of you may still get your wish.
pretty happy with Theis. I'm not sure if he's a Willie guy, but he's a smart player. Could do worse for a backup.
That had to be strictly to replace Zeller. We aren’t done yet.
I think the Pelicans were waiting to sign a big because they wanted to have more flexibility for a BI trade. I wonder if this signing is acknowledging we are less likely to see a BI trade in the next couple of weeks.
I reckon at this rate we will probably roll with the current lineup and see how it fares and sign players on the cheap. Then we will look for trades during the season and hope somebody is looking for a title push and bites on one of Ingram or CJ (potentially Murray but less likely). If I had to guess, we want to inflate CJ’s value as much as possible and look for an expiring swap. I find it hard to believe that we can get value out of a BI trade at this point. I can see us letting him ride out the season and taking a chance on FA if we can’t find the right deal. It’s about as tough a situation as we can be in. Willie has to make the most out of this roster if things come to that.
I think a big will get to New Orleans eventually. Griff knows he can't sign a free-agent bench center and ignore a starter. That is a recipe for failure on this team. He would have been better off keeping Nance and V. and rerunning it.
Ah ok. Y'all are right.
You're absolutely right. I've been here for decades now and Harvey Hornet was only person I've ever seen break something and that was before the Bensons owned the franchise. Since then we have NEVER had inside info and most of the people who do cover the team has this weird bitter hatred that comes through in their reporting.
No Ingram in this photo. So it looks like Ingram will get moved eventually
But teams in touch with Utah say the Jazz are looking for at least a first-round pick in return for Kessler in these conversations that had gone on earlier in the offseason.
Could be asolid and young C in the starting position but the problem would be signing Kessler and Trey next off-season
I don't think I have seen so much skepticism and gloom around a roster for the Pelicans in a while. It is like the season is lost before it starts. Griffin has opened Pandora's Box by talking about his sense of urgency, but something will give eventually on the center position. At the moment there are a lot of frustrating things about this organization. The Smoothie King Arena situation, the injuries, the turnovers/lack of basketball IQ at pivotal times, and the damn lack of accessibility for regional fans to watch the Pelicans, etc. al., but the roster will be fixed. Play smart, reduce the turnovers, and find on-court chemistry and you have something.
