As long as we keep Gordon, I'm excited to add Evans. If it leads to us trading Gordon, I'm against it. Saw Stein's tweet that the Pelicans plan on keeping Gordon, so I'm actually excited about adding Evans now. Plus that post from Bee-fense has me less worries about his efficiency. Under Monty, and our organization I expect Tyreke to thrive big time. Who has Sacramento developed in the last 10+ years? Peja??? I honestly can't think of one player they have developed in the last decade but I could be missing one. Bottom line, if we keep Gordon I want Tyreke, but I'm not getting my hopes up because I do expect Sacramento to match because they are undergoing a culture change and they are under a new regime and they need all the talent they can get.
I'm torn with my opinion with Tyreke as well. It's disconcerting that he hasn't noticably gotten better from his rookie season...but he also plays for the Kings, not the best coaching staff ever. I fear that he's a guy that might not be self-motivated to improve, and he will be in his prime.
Also, with this lineup (EG, Jrue, and Tyreke), someone will have to play off the ball from time to time. I believe Jrue could do it, but I don't know how successful EG or Tyreke will be doing this.
If these players like being w/ the Pelicans and work to adapt their games to fit the team, we could have one of the most talented backcourts in the entire NBA.
Is no one considering ego? Holiday, Gordon, and Evans have shown they can do great things in this league already, yet all 3 still have a lot to prove. I cannot imagine 3 shooting guards (equivalent to WR in the NFL, aka divas) willing to share minutes and space so much. Never mind Davis will need his looks.
If Evans signs one of them (Gordon) will probably be on the outs. I'm not a fan of that before they get a chance to play.
Only Demps knows this answer but I think he does have value now and any value is better than the 0 value he'll have when he starts missing games next season. I just don't trust him and I don't see any reason why Demps or Monty would. If his value is 0 like you think, of course we keep him we wont have an option. But if he does have value now and you hold him until the trade deadline next season with hopes of increasing his value, you're playing with fire.
Are you serious... The fact that ppl crediting this man better then what he really just surprises me... Its like we give stats, scouting reports, but ppl still dismiss it... The dude is good but ppl putting him on the peddle stool saying that he is great... the dude is a slasher who's court vision isn't all what its cracked up to be a lazy defender, and a person that can't shoot And his best season when he as playing point guard...
Without any new information, this thread has all become "I HATE TYREKE" vs. "I LOVE HIM TRADE GORDON." Wake me up when Tyreke signs/Kings match.
I am not too worried. One way or another I think we end up with Tyreke. I wouldn't be surprised with a sign and trade at worst. With more moves to come. Probably a guy like Copeland or Brewer in addition to Evans once all wheeling and delling is done.
Some people don't realize that being a good GM is finding a player and locking him in at a price before he peaks and letting someone walk before they decline exponentially.
Obviously Dell and Monty are on the same page when it comes to Tyreke. They believe that he is going to peak soon and that it would be exponentially more on this team which justifies his price.
There jobs will be determined based on the aggregate of these moves.
Sometimes you have to take a risk and weigh the advantages/disadvantages.
Dell had done well to earn our respect up until this point.
We could be talking about this in a year or two and we will either be saying, Dell screwed up or Dell is a genius but we won't know unless we take that leap.
Rotoworld reporting form the Bee that it seems they won't match.Quote:
The Sacramento Bee does not expect the Kings to match the four-year, $44 million deal the Pelicans have offered restricted free agent Tyreke Evans.
Evans isn't done traveling the free agent circuit yet, but the Kings appear prepared to let him move on. They've been linked to unrestricted free agent Andre Iguodala, who would fill more of the classic small forward hole they have. Evans, meanwhile, has already met with the Pistons, Pelicans, Kings and Hawks. He'll meet with more teams, but we doubt he'll find a better deal than the one New Orleans has offered.

at the end of the day the healthy man plays
The plot...stagnates.
Are we stuck until Evans makes his decision? I mean can we try to sign Brewer at the same time for example?
Webster is gone now...
Demps.. demps.. demps... smh
What's the rush? Can't do much until the 10th anyways.
Does this remind anyone of last year's 3 guard lineup on steroids? Everyone seemed to be clamoring for more Gordon, Vazquez, Roberts at the end of last season. Gimmie some Holiday, Evans, Gordon.
Also, while only one is "elite" at shooting, how often do teams have 5 guys who can space the floor and have respectable jump shots. Jrue, Gordon, Evans, Anderson, Davis is a beast to guard.... remember, everyone's worried about floor spacing with evans but this is really the opposite of the normal model, with the guards diving to the hoop and the bigs popping out for jumpers. Lineups like these take bigs like hibbert out of the game defensively.

Don't worry if you're confused, #NBA GMs right w/you. Bidding fever sees Kings think about maxing out Iggy after #Pelicans offer Tyreke $44M
Please. Do phones not work when you're negotiating? Whether Tyreke says he's signing with us today or tomorrow they know they weren't priority. Means the same thing if i offer you 2 million more today and you agree versus saying if Tyreke doesn't sign i'll offer you million more. I'm sure they're going to hold out for that call for the extra 2 million. I'm sure Tyreke will get back to us in a timely manner. I completely understand that there's a wide gap, but there's also a lot of wiggle room.
I wonder who else we will woo this week? This weekend is Essence weekend!
