Well, we bought the center needed and I think Lopez is a good choice. Now it's only an SF missing: will it be Matt Barnes ?

It's not that bad: Lopez, Davis, Anderson, Vasquez, Gordon.
I'd imagine with Lopez now in the mix, the lineup is going to look something like:
Vasquez/Rivers/Roberts
Gordon/Henry/Rivers
Aminu/Miller/Henry/Thomas
Davis/Anderson/Smith/Thomas/Warrick
Lopez/Anderson/Smith
There should, however, be a ton of lineups with both Anderson and Davis playing together. Whether that's at 4 and 5, 4 and 3, or 5 and 3, will depend on the opposing team, and the rotations Monty comes up with.
I could see it. Davis' unique skillset might allow the Hornets to start three bigs if they so choose, since he might be able to play the 3 due to his guard experience prior to his UK time.
His offensive 'wing' skills, I can't imagine any drop off from Aminu for sure, so we wouldn't be sacrificing much.
EDIT TO ADD: Not to mention the fact that Anderson's ability to shoot better than a 3 or 4 makes this alignment more possible.
Anderspn(possibly), Aminu, Thomas, Miller, Henry can all play SF, no need for a SF. Another guard is a much bigger priority.
Dell wasn't lying when he said they wanted to get bigger.. Robin Lopez, Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson, and Jason Smith is bringing size and length to the big easy.
yea sifting through 50 pages is a hassle, but I think its amazing that this board managed to generate a 50 page thread on Robin Lopez. That thread just goes to show how excited and reenergized the fanbase of this team is. The forum activity over the past few months has been awesome. Never thought I'd see this many people posting and browsing but its great!! Is it wrong of me to be more excited about the upcoming NBA season than the NFL season?!?!
if we get a decent backup 2, our lineup is pretty much complete.
We're really long from the 3-5. Makes up for our undersized back-court.
Now we need to move Henry for a more dependable backup SG. If w keep Henry, he will just be a slasher who gets to the foul line and nothing more. If that's what Monty thinks is a good fit, then I'm all for it. It just seems we need someone to have a more reliable shot with so many bigs.
Hopefully Dell can find a taker for Henry, we can dump him on a team with cap space for a 2nd round pick to free up cap space. Then we can sign Jodie Meeks to a cheap 1year 2mill deal. We can probably get Hassan Whiteside and Meeks for about 3mill total at this point in free agency.
I agree. There's been quite a few big threads lately. Shows that people are obviously excited and have lots to say. And no it's not 'wrong' of you to be more excited about the upcoming NBA season than the NFL season. You can feel excited about whatever you want to feel excited about. :D
True. He will be nice to have if we need to get someone's big in foul trouble. I like the size he put on but obviously he has not worked on his shot. He is more of a 3 but do we even have money to get a true backup SG? He is arguably the most expendable piece we have.
Just realizing how fun it's gonna be watching J-Smoove and Lopez play against the Clippers... :hihi:
Usually I'm way into my posting on saintsreport, approaching 9,500 posts there kind of shows that, but I'm still going strong here. Feels good to be excited.
I thought J Smoove was Josh Smith. I must have missed the memo...
@JimmySmithtp:
Source says #Hornets G Xavier Henry had minor knee procedure. Details to come.
Aw welp that just made his trade value null and void even more, lol.
But on a serious note,Hope he recovers 100%.
Suns fans seem excited as hell about this trade. To them Lopez and Warrick were the worst players on their team and they were able to dump them while getting a 1st rd pick in return.
Increased minutes will improve Lopez greatly. I can't wait.
Love the trade. We don't give up anything important to the future of our team while adding a legit 7 footer, and another big who I'm sure Dell can turn into an asset. Oh by the way, Lopez is only 24. We now have a ton of quality bigs in Davis, Anderson, Lopez, Smith, Warrick, and Thomas. When I look at this rotation of bigs I see shooting, quickness, defense, and youth. Very solid.
^^ That is one crazy play. I heard he doesn't have as much athleticism anymore from injuries though. God I hope he can still do that.
He will get his opportunity. The last this Williams wants to do is put his star rookie in a position where he's guarding guys with a 20 to 80 lb weight advantage on a nightly basis. At least at power forward there are a lot more players who use a face up game.
Either Smith or Lopez starts at center. Anderson has to give points to our 2nd unit and in crunch time.
How hard is it to understand that they got the #1 for taking on Johnson's contract. The only benefit they got from trading Lopez was getting the Hornets to take on Warrick's contract (which assisted them in doing the Johnson deal). Your trolling is getting old. It is hilarious for a Rockets' fan to talk trash after the offseason the Rockets have had so far.
Yes if I was a Suns fan I would be happy with the trade as well. They received a fist round pick created cap space and didnt have to pay a backup center 5million dollars. Which I dont mind paying 5million for Lopez for the Hornets because we dont have that luxury of having a starting center on the roster like the Suns with Gortat. So I love the trade for the Hornets because we didnt lose anything but some cap space, but gained a possible expiring contract to possibly move, cash and a 7footer whose contract will be up once its time to pay our top players.
Only loser in this trade should be Twolves fans, I really dont understand what they are doing over there. Nets were just offering AK-47 the NBA minimum and they KAHN comes in and just offers 10 million a year off the bat, lol and gives up a 1st round pick.
His athleticism certainly improved from two years ago to last year (two years ago was horrendous, last year below average).
Maybe this year he gets closer to rookie Robin Lopez, who at 5 million a year is an enormous steal.
Jim Eichenhofer @Jim_Eichenhofer
Demps on Lopez: "He fits in with our timeline, a young player with experience in the league. We felt we needed to fill the center position."
Jim Eichenhofer @Jim_Eichenhofer
Demps on Warrick: "A veteran who will add to our frontcourt depth. He has the ability to score, athleticism and quickness."
I see Lopez starting, even if he only gets 20-25 mpg. I like the idea of Anderson coming off the bench early and often and creating mismatches. It could also be fun/interesting to see a anderson-davis-lopez front court. This team is shaping up quite nicely, maybe not this year, but we'll be perennial playoff team for years to come.
Jim Eichenhofer @Jim_Eichenhofer
Demps said decision on Anderson playing SF will be Monty's. Hornets will put best talent on floor; not preoccupied with naming of positions
Jim Eichenhofer @Jim_Eichenhofer
Demps said possibility of Warrick shift to small forward - where minutes may be more available than PF - will be determined in training camp
Your Hubig's Pie Avatar just burned up today :( Hope they rebuild
