True but its not simple, say you have a PF ranked as 1a and a SF ranked at 1b on ur big board which one would u take? I'd have to go SF, point is if u have 2 players ranked the same u go need, and in this draft there is no clear dominant player
He is 6'6 with shoes on or off? :D
I wouldn't mind him here, but move him to 2 and keep Aminu in to take up for the def. that we will lack with Bazz in there.
bazz's defense isnt bad at all
Personally In 3 years which player would I want the most:
1. Smart
2. Mclemore
3. Burke
4. Muhammad
5. Porter
6. Oladipo
7. Noel
8. Bennett
9. Zeller
10. Carter-Williams
Was very easy. I actually had a hard time thinking of anyone worth the 10th pick. I sure hope we pick top 7 because the rest don't interest me, but I didnt feel like I had to debate much.
Also the Bazz love on this board is ridiculous. But I suspect where we pick we won't have a shot at him anyway.
So, maybe I'm a sourpuss. I like seeing us improve as a team and individually, but at the same time I want to get the tank on. We need that for our future. More of Monty's losing at the last moment magic would be nice.
I understand what you are trying to say, but the reality of the draft situation is much different....you can believe that each franchise will have their version of separation between who they see at 4 and who they see at 10.....no matter how slight it might be and how they arrive at it
From what I 've seen of the NCAA Tournament so far, Marcus Smart, Porter, Shabazz, McLemore, Zeller, Olafdipo, and Bennett did not shine. The player who looks the most ready for primetime is Trey Burke. A point guard like him is so important in today's NBA. Make it happen, Demps and Loomis!
No not true...especially in this draft...there are no players that r head n shoulders above the rest..if mclemore is there then yea he can go as bpa. The rest of these guys that are slotted from 2-6 are all in the same grade range. U don't draft a guy just cause his grade might be a hair above the guy u need for that position. That's just silly to think that way. I'll say it again. U draft bpa when that player is no doubt much better than the next guy and is a sure fire type of guy. Sorry none of those in this draft.
I don't care where we pick, I want Burke.
Glen Robinson III is winning me over. He is playing so solid and he has been really efficient scoring so far this tournament.
Except 7 turnovers. Ouch
I agree I'm not saying that ain't true. Your missing my point here. This draft does not contain that type of player that u can say without a doubt they fit that bill over the next guy. At this point is guaranteed mclemore is going 1. After that there is not that discrepancy between the next 2-7 guys.
Absolutely. Burke is mr clutch. Lives for the big moment. I don't get the ppl who claim this kid to be slow. Lol..he is pretty darn quick. Not Parker or rose quick but def not slow by any means. Just nitpicking at this point to me. I'm all for drafting this kid. We need pg bad!!!! Next up would be sf which is safe to say we can upgrade in fawith all the cap room.
Just relaying this
@McNamara247: I see there is a lot of love for Trey Burke out there in Hornets land. Don't wanna be a Debbie Downer, but there is 0% chance Dell takes him
@McNamara247:
Hornets want to pressure the ball at the point of attack. Burke is an average athlete that will be a liability on D in NBA
@McNamara247: @MichaelHart912 I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. Wanna bet? I'll throw in Anthony Bennett too - 0% chance. Let's do this!
Interesting anyway
To predict where a player is gonna be in 3 years is a little off base also. You can't lay down a 3 year prediction plan on every prospect and draft off that. If that worked we would have a million psychics. You absolutely have to draft off current skills and contribution with some potential sprinkled on top especially when your drafting in top 5.
So far this tournament glen Robinson III
Game 1 - 21points 6rebounds
Game 2 - 14points 9rebounds
Liking him a lot if we wind up with a pick in the 6-9 range
The only PGs that are good defenders that I can think of are Rubio, Holliday, Westbrook, and maybe Rondo and Conley. There aren't many quality PGs that come out that are also good defenders. Yet, there are still teams that put out good or great defense with poor defenders at the PG position (i.e. healthy Howard, Garnett, Duncan teams).
Hell, the Suns competed for a while and they had both Nash and Amare playing heavy minutes. Granted, they were never better than average defensively but it should be obvious that PG defense does not count for much in the league today. I don't see why it should stop someone from drafting a PG high (ie: Lillard).
To have a terrific defense, you typically need one superb big man and one superb wing defender. Miami is kind of spoiled with James being able to do both along with Wade being able to guard most SGs and SFs. Along with Battier. And Bosh's help defense. They are a special team in many ways.
I am a fan of Burke but I did see something that concerns me. It seemed a few times he was trapped in the backcourt and couldn't get around or split, not comforting. I don't know if you contribute it to lack of speed or good defense or lack of an outlet. I don't know-just made me worry what pro athletes will do to him. Not writing him off, just noting the concern.
That kid Harris on MSU will be a fast riser in a lot of teams boards. He is fundamentally sound and coached by Izzo for a year. Might be a Top 3 pick dependent on the team.
Here's the thing. The Hornets/Pelicans don't play one-on-one defense. It's lots of hard hedging, traps, doubles, rotating from all 5 players. If they keep that style then being cat quick plays no role. If anything they want players capable of defending different positions and able to read passing lanes with long arms. Don't need to be turtle face (Westbrook) but Burke would seem quick enough for this style.
He can also help the defense by helping the offense be more efficient.
Olynick, what is the NBA to do with you? Are you Psycho T, or are you Jason Smith?
Any info on this kid Russ smith? He looks really nice.
I also like withey a lot he can flat out defend block shots and rebound and he can score good enough
Russ Smith from Louisville? He looks real. 6'0 junior. Having a solid tourney.
Blue is coming alive.
My two real favorite players in the draft are Tim Hardaway Jr. and Larson if they come out. I know we will draft early and that would be a real reach for both players but maybe we can trade down and get those two guys (wishful thinking). Hardaway gives us a wing that can create his own shot and shot the 3 ball well, and Larson seems like a true floor general that can create his own shot (which is something most guys on the team lack). If I had to pick one player early in the draft I would say Shabazz because he seems like a legit scorer which we need.
I know people say that Bazz is a scorer. And that he has skills like Melo. But I don't see it.
