Actually, I think we all know you pretty well here. You've posted far more ridiculous trades that you thought were serious than this one, so I can't say how anyone would believe it was a joke.
I would think that if this does not get finalized very soon, Minnesota will pull out of the proposed deal and move Johnson to someone wanting to take on the salary in order to get AK47 signed. Today may be critical in getting this done or it falling apart completely.
I just can't stop thinking, why didn't Dell just sign Lopez to this same deal before we matched Gordon?
My guess is the Suns would have matched it, not to mention our collection of assets for a S&T were pretty different. At best we'd have been offering Jarret Jack's cap space in a 3way trade plus 2nds. This deal gets them the same cap space to dump Warrick, a late 1st, and a former top 5 pick even though he looks like a complete bust so far.
Yeah, he was probably working on something else. Dell keeps things very close to the vest. I bet this trade was leaked from either the Suns or Wolves side.
I really like Lopez, but damn he isn't worth all of that. They are lucky Kahn is such an idiot.
glad this trade is finally done.
Jimmy Smith: hornets robin lopez acquisition complete. 2 minutes ago
Jimmy Smith: # Hornets also receive hakim warrick. 1 minute ago
Let's hear some more details there Jimmy...
Just read Demps will speak to the media at 2 pm about the acquisitions. Glad this is finally done!
Wonder what the final deal was?
wondering what we gave up. Miller wasn't enough so I'm guessing X and Dyson are included in here somewhere.
John Gambadoro @Gambo620
Deal had to be modified because pick Suns are getting via Memphis/Minn could turn into 3 mill & Suns already have received 3 mill from LA
John Gambadoro @Gambo620
Under new CBA rules a team can not receive more than 3 million or pay out more than 3 million in any given year.

Finally :)
Glad thats over.
Finally a center!
Nola.com first said the Miller contract would now be going to the Suns instead of Minnesota and that was the only change. now their article doesn't mention that.
i'm so confused. what about the CBA issues we supposedly had with going over the cap? was that just incorrect info?

whatever the problem was, i'm happy with the outcome. welcome lopez & warrick!
someone tell me when did we get Brooklyn's 2nd?
Ok, by my rudimentary math, we will have about $10 mil available next year (includes us signing Miller and subtracts Dyson).
It could raise to $12 if the salary cap is raised to $60 as some expect it will.
Edited. Was trying to do it in my head originally and ran out of fingers, so first estimates were wrong.
Anybody have the exact deal?
It was part of the deal for Brad Miller, I believe. We acquired two 2nd rounders in that deal and those are the picks we flipped to the Sunds here.
Here's the trade from the Hornets release:
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired center Robin Lopez, forward Hakim Warrick, and cash considerations from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for guard Jerome Dyson, center Brad Miller and two 2nd round picks (Brooklyn’s 2013 second round selection and Minnesota’s 2016 second round draft choice) as part of a three-team trade along with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Phoenix receives Brad Miller and Jerome Dyson from the Hornets as well as Wesley Johnson and a 1st round pick from Minnesota. Minnesota receives Brooklyn’s 2013 2nd round pick and their own 2016 2nd round pick from New Orleans.
Per NBA.com http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/horn...arrick-phoenix
I believe Lopez will be our starting center and will show improvement from his previous seasons, given the minutes.
What great trade for Phoenix. Thank u eballa
John Gambadoro @Gambo620
With 3-way trade now completed Suns turn attention to signing a backup center. Suns will have 14 mill in cap space for next season.
I found someone that agrees with me!!!! But dude their is a big long thread about this.
Finally!! Didn't have to review 50 page thread to get this answer.
:clap::thumbup::happy2::heartth::grphug:
:)
How is this trade any different from the previous one?
I understand why that first round pick was involved on Minnesota's part. Phoenix is taking back around 10mil in contracts to make this happen.
Great I was hoping this thing would get finalized. Welcome Lopez, Warrick and "cash considerations"!
I also think he will be starting, but hey....
I believed that this needed its own thread since its official now. Like omalakas pointed out it sucks having to scroll through a bunch of pages on another thread when the other thread was still in the process of the trade. Sry about double posting.
what kinda cash we talkin?
It's not lol
The only thing that is different is that miller's contract is going to the suns. In the previous report he was going to minn, which I think we all knew isnt possible.
They are doing a press conference?
San Antonio is going to have a long night come Oct. 31st.
Dyson to Suns. Mayne pick is different.
