Exactly, Morrow or Miller when in the game don't get any opportunities to take 3pt shots...

Yes that's right. This team is way too talented to have this win lose record. See what Jeff Hornacek is doing in Phoenix. What record would this suns team have with Monty? And what record would we have with Jeff Hornacek? IMO Jeff Hornacek is like the Heisenberg under the coaches. See thread: http://www.pelicansreport.com/showth...623-Heisenberg
what is amazing about the Suns is that their defense is 11th in defensive efficiency and they are very young as well
coaching is important in the nba; there are some coaches who really make a difference in the W/L record (probably around 6-8) and it appears hornacek is one of them...if monty is not the answer (and I don't think he is), then hopefully we can get one of those guys...but those guys are VERY hard to find...shaka smart would be the best bet like MM has suggested
One key reason that the defense is worse is because the Pels play a faster pace this year so the opponent has more chances to score. The slow pace that the "Hornets" played hid a lot of the defensive woes..
I'll speak for MM here. I don't think anybody's saying that better coaching won't yield better a W/L record. What we are saying is changing coaches mid season does no justice for the old coach, the new coach or the players. Unless we hire a coach with very similar coaching philosopy as Williams. Also there aren't many coaches who will leave their jobs mid season. So if we hire a coach we either hire one who is out of coaching now or we promote a assistant as an interim HC(and if that's the case we might as well let Monty have the rest of the year.)
Question: You repeatedly state that you would like Monty gone over the summer. What is the benefit of waiting? You state that he is only part of the problem. So why not begin fixing it now?
This is not a 5 game over reaction a la Mike Brown-Lakers. This is 3.5 years of the same thing, plain obvious, bad coaching. We have basically mortgaged our future in win-now mode right? Well don't you think we need a coach capable of winning now for that to happen? Yes I know Monty has been dubbed the next great young coach, but based on what? Seriously... he has earned nothing. He has proven nothing. He may be brilliant, he may be whatever you want, but my eyes and I believe most others see the same thing, someone who is not ready now, and may never be ready. Why do we have to suffer through his growing pains?
Quick fixes do happen by the way, and they are certainly not rare. You are a sports reporter correct? Here is a quick one for ya. 2 years ago, Golden State had two more wins than us. Now look at them. Will you state that the drafting of Klay Thomson and Harrison Barnes made them go from our level to ACTUAL CONTENDERS. The FA signing of Iggy? AD, Jrue, Tereke and Ryno have been brought to the Pels during the last 2 years. Is that not at LEAST an even swap of talent? Does Mark Jackson not have anything to do with their quick turnaround?
Typically landing a once a decade talent like AD kind of ensures a quick turnaround.................I wonder what is slowing us down?
I agree with a lot of this but I'm ok with him being gone after this year is done as well. He has shown no growth over the last 3-4 years. It's the same mismanagement of games I've been seeing since day 1. He refuses to give certain guys playing time cause it's his philosophy. Frankly I'm just sick of him and his inept coaching abilities. He's a good guy and I'll root for him to succeed at whatever he does. Just doesn't belong as a hc at this juncture of his career. Much better suited as an assistant coach IMO. Our offense is an absolute wreck right now. It has no direction and it's ISO ball every game. Guys are just sitting around looking Lost at times out there. Smith will shoot 20 long jumpers a game if he could and it's ridiculous. Well the other side might say "u think Monty draws the play up for smith to shoot those". Let me say this. It's one of 2 things and both are horrible. Either yes he is drawing it up for him or no he isn't and smith just continues to chuck it time after time and don't care what Monty thinks or wants. Both are equally horrible. Same goes with aminu when he continues to shoot ill advised jumpers time after time. Long jumpers at that. I admit he is improving but when we need a basket at a critical juncture of a game. I've seen this happen way too often. We need high % shots being taken and either of those are not that and the problem is that they continue to happen. This is on the coach!!! Either he's ok with it or his wishes are not respected by these guys. I honestly believe he is being muted by these players. Their body language out there speaks a thousand words. I'd be shocked if Monty is not gone by end of year. Benson don't have much life left to live and be wants to see this team make a playoff run before he goes. I can guarantee u that much. He will eat some $$$ to see that it happens.
Congratulations guys, we're officially competing against lakers fans and knicks fans for most delusional fanbase in NBA.
I can't believe how many times did I read "we're too talented" or "this team is every coach's dream".
First, the talent thing. Quick question who's the most talented 5-man line-up : Nash/Bryant/Artest/Gasol/Howard or Holiday/Gordon/Evans/Davis/Anderson ? And am I the only one who remember that this lakers team barely made the playoffs and that they were completly irrelevant before the ASG ?
Second, the "all coaches wants this team". Guys, do you know that most coach dislikes young players because of the many mistakes they make on the court ? Jeff Van Gundy in his last tenure at Houston played only one players 24 or under for more than 2000 minutes a year, the player was Yao Ming, exact same thing with his brother with the magic, only one and his name was Howard. For reminder, Davis, Holiday, Evans and Aminu are all four 24 or under and at least 2 of them should play more than 2000 minutes this year (Aminu and Evans are borderline). And last thing, do you really believe that every single coach dream about stretch bigs and combo guards ? This team is build in a non-conformist way, that's not the dream of every single coach.
I mean, I don't know if Monty is the best answer, but I can't blame him for the fanbase expecting a 20-win improvement when there isn't 5 coach in the history that accomplished this with such a young team (I see only one, Mark Jackson and it was because the warriors tanked pretty hard to avoid to give up their pick the year before).
I don't really see a problem either way with letting him finish out the year or an interim coach. I think if you get a temporary guy you might see something different which might yield some new info, so that could be helpful.
None of what you said matters... people think this roster is the best ever, and Monty is the worst coach ever.

The thing that makes this roster desirable is Anthony Davis. And Monty is just in over his head. That's all. The next head coaching gig will be when he really makes headway.
if anyone is traded before monty is fired this team never got a fair chance. more games that pass the more games i think the coach is becoming a bigger issue
...Rivers out.
Withey out.
Oh well.
So ridiculous for people clamming fire Monty already such a joke. We have the youngest team in the NBA with a bunch of players that are very good put together right around pre season. people need to pump the breaks and let this be a learning and gelling year with players mastering and developing other skills while learning to play with each other. O yea our "superstar" is freaking 20 years old!!
Look at Doc Rivers and how he was until he was able to get a bunch of all star vets who aren't the youngest players in the NBA. Phil Jackson even had struggles with veteran teams loaded with talent. This team is loaded with young potential that is still developing and if you can't enjoy the ride go be a heat fan then jump to the next team Lebron goes to.
nobody can figure out how roberts gets more playing time than rivers...people say that pierre jackson is not a monty player, but somehow roberts is?? doesn't make sense..so frustrating...roberts dominated the ball that third quarter so gordon got no touches...gordon played well once roberts got his 2nd foul in the first halve....it is the same story when roberts is in with reke...come on monty!!!!
This right here is the only thing that has me questioning Monty right now. Everything else I think should let be played out with a little bit of time. This whole Roberts over Rivers crap really has me pissed off. Tom Thibodeau would be a perfect fit here. He plays his starters to many minutes which is something we could use. He consistently gets his teams to play their butts off and actually coaches non stop all game that he has no voice at the end of every game. We would be one of the top teams in the league. Another plus is that he loves Austin Rivers from his days being under Doc. He was a big believer in Rivers before the draft and I'm sure he still is. Thibs and Chicago hierarchy are rumored to not get along and get stand each other. I really believe he would be a Sean Payton type of hire for this team and be the perfect fit.
