Hayward's reported contract is for the full max. Boston will have work to do clearing salary. Almost has to be Smart just due to #'s
— Nate Duncan (@NateDuncanNBA) July 4, 2017
Now the chips can start to fall
Would be nice if we could get Smart and Nick Young somehow. Not sure how we could make it work though.
Wouldn't punch you into the upper echelon but it would make one of the more cohesive teams we have fielded in the AD era.
Agent Mark Bartelstein, who reps Hayward, told me he & Heat are "working on something" for James Johnson, will talk with Riley tonight.

Would be nice if we could pry Avery Bradley away from the Celts but who am I kidding we have nothing to give

With Gordon Hayward now agreeing to a four-year $127M max contract, Celtics management now has a series of transactions to do in order to create cap space. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade). The Celtics would be left with $27.6M in room and likely need to move the contract of Jae Crowder, Terry Rozier or Marcus Smart. Trading Rozier would have the Celtics short $1M of a max salary a lot.
thought I might point this out on the Smart front:

Boston has renounced restricted free agent Kelly Olynyk, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent, league sources tell ESPN.

Indiana and Atlanta on the short list of interested teams, I'm told https://t.co/zSw2oXp5QE

There will be a strong market for Olynyk, whose cap hold needed to leave Boston payroll to create space to sign Gordon Hayward. https://t.co/0HTdpBmwYa

Well according to Zach Lowe at ESPN, Swaggy is expected to make a decision today or tomorrow on who to sign with out of us & the Warriors. But the Warriors are looking at Jamal Crawford too, but won't be able to acquire him supposedly until he gets bought out after the Hawks acquire him via trade. Who knows when or if that will happen tho. I hope Swaggy picks us cause he gives us what we need. A scorer with the length to play the 2 or 3 and shoots the 3 at a 40% clip. I guess a 3 & D guy would be better, but I'll take a 2 & 3 guy lol. Hopefully a 2 year 11.5 million dollar deal will get it done, but it will probably be more like a 2-3 year deal for 12-18 million. Hopefully he doesn't want anything more than 3 years and I'm hesitant to give him more than 2. Who knows? He made something like 5.4 last year, declined his 5.7 option for this year, and had a good year. Plus he actually looked to have gotten better on D last year, but it was a contract year. He better not be looking for anything more than 6 a year!!!
Names keep falling and Dell keeps busy doing...emmm...he is trying to...uhmm oh well.Another great offseason.
Olynyk has been released it seems.
Doubt the Celtics will move Crowder. Beyond value contract, he's still the piece that lets them play successful small-ball.

Source says Boston has already begun contacting teams about picking up Marcus Smart.

So, when does Calipari's plane land?
Flurry of action surrounding Olynyk, with multiple teams gauging his price point in unrestricted free agency now, league sources tell ESPN.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 5, 2017
I know it probably is extremely unlikely, but if we traded for Bledsoe, could we maybe try for Crowder as well? That starting 5 would be awesome defensively.
Lol not sure if joking but where has there even been a hint of him leaving Kentucky? I mean as a Memphis fan, i can certainly picture him just bolting but he keeps going out of his way to keep saying he is not leaving Kentucky. Oh wait, he did that with Memphis too. I dunno.

I'd expect #Celtics to trade Jae Crowder. Not sure if they'll be forced to choose between Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart as well.
— Adam Kaufman (@AdamMKaufman) July 5, 2017
So am I the only one who wants to smack the ish out of these celtics fans for saying "trade for AD!" Or "Hopefully the Pelicans are stupid to trade us Davis" every single time I type in "pelicans" on twitter's search bar.
It makes me so mad. I trust that the team has a plan to keep Boogie and AD happy.
See my trade for Bledsoe, land Wall post.
It's like sure, Celtics, we'll give you AD. Give us Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, Hayward, and all of your firsts
I guess they aren't comfortable with playing Hayward and Crowder/Brown together. Doesn't make sense to me. Bradley has to go regardless, why not move him now? Crowder has more value between the two given his contract and position. They should keep him as ammo for a bigger trade.
Free agent guard Derrick Rose will meet with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, league sources tell ESPN.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 5, 2017
Hmmmm.... If only I could think of a scenario where they move both Crowder and Smart for cap space and future picks.....
Oh, and our future picks are worth more to a guy like Ainge, because he would bet that we will have imploded 3 years down the road, ala Brooklyn.
Fire and Ice working together today

Works on trade machine:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycn6y2qp
Just sub out Crawford for Toupane (can't trade him for a few more days). But it does work as a 3-team trade.
Maybe we do pull something off with Celtics but it's for Bradley?
Think boston wants Brown to play more SG than SF.
RFA Otto Porter has reached agreement on a four-year, $106M max deal with Brooklyn Nets, league sources tell The Vertical.

Free agent forward Patrick Patterson has agreed to a three-year, $16.4M deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources tell ESPN.

Really nice deal https://t.co/eACvjifA9f

Deal includes player option on the third year, league sources tell ESPN. Patterson gets a starting job on contender in a tough marketplace. https://t.co/RsRCa4sR1G
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 5, 2017
Did Patterson just set market for Dante Cunningham?

DC: 6.6 pts, 4.2 reb, 39.2 3FG% in 25.0 min https://t.co/9NDG6wX4mA
Always liked Patterson and that seems like a steal imo. Good stretch big off the bench who brings some strength and toughness.
