So what would it take to get Jae Crowder from Ainge?
Hayward, Tatum, Brown, and Crowder is a pretty crowded depth chart at wing.

I'd LOVE to snag Ojeleye from them.
We trust Gordon and his agent that no decision has been made. Good communication all day and a great relationship.

Why are the Pelicans having such a hard time getting any players interested??
The Kings and the Wolves kicking butt

What amazing to me is why the Pacers haven't gone after him. He has stated that was he childhood dream to play there where he is from.
Not really excited about Smart. He is a terrible shooter but good defensively. I guess the defense is what interests them. Could someone like Rondo be somewhat similar and be had much cheaper (i.e. without giving up a 1st rounder)? Not that I am a huge fan of Rondo either, but would prefer not to give up a 1st for someone like Smart.
As posted earlier
If Cook and Crawford look impressive in summer league then we will be okay for those positions.
We need to get Cumminghan back Badd
My ideal choice is Bledsoe but Smart aint to bad of a choice.
Welp...

Its an older tweet that got lost in the shuffle, guy seems reputable but I have no clue on his track record.
League source tells me "Gordon has changed his mind four times in the last four days"

To expand on Smart a bit....
He was 20th amongst Pg's in real plus minus. 13th in defensive real plus minus. Jrue was 14th in real plus minus and 3rd in defense.
In other words, we would have 2 of the 20 best pg's statistically, and 2 of the 13 best defenders.
Solomon Hill was 16th amongst SF's defensively, and AD was 2nd amongst PF's.
That's a hell of a start towards an elite defense.
And we're back on!
Another free agent expected to make his choice today or tomorrow: Nick Young, with GSW and Pelicans among leading bidders, sources say

Zach Lowe > Dave Miller.
He has never been a decent shooter in college or yet in the pros. Not sure if that is going to change. If he is indeed our target, I am curious as to how we make it work for Boston as they need to clear the space and we cannot just take it on. Even if we included non-guaranteed contracts of Cook and Toupane, would not be enough. We would have to acquire another non-guaranteed or trade Crawford as well. Would not be crazy about losing shooters like Cook and Crawford.

"Veteran guard Jamal Crawford's preference would be to join rookie Lonzo Ball in the backcourt with the Lakers if he can get bought out of his contract, a source told The Undefeated. With his family based in Los Angeles and a solid relationship already in place with Ball, the current Los Angeles Clippers guard would like to sign as a free agent with the Lakers if he were bought out of his contract by the Atlanta Hawks after an expected multi-team trade that is expected to send Danilo Gallinari to the Clippers. The Lakers have strong interest in signing Crawford as well, a source said, and have the money to offer a respectable contract. Crawford could possibly start at shooting guard for the Lakers and be a big help as a mentor and shot maker for the assist creating Ball."

I was a huge fan of Smart when he was coming out of college, but I'd definitely prefer Bledsoe over him.
I have a credible sauce from the front office saying we are very very likely to sign nick young any day now. More playing time and more money matters. If we get young I will be excited.

I agree to an extent. You could argue it goes against what Boston does as well though. Finch is truly known for innovative offense. Not just playing through the big man. But obviously they do want to actually play through Cousins.
Smart does bring a second ball handler and good defender. Checks a lot of boxes.
I would have more confidence in Smart if we weren't already trying to force Solomon Hill in there. The combination of Hill and Smart is hard to envision offensively.
Which sauce is it?

It has become quite evident the cap is a major issue for the Pelicans, and the free agency period was all about Jrue. Everything is a tease.
