Zion has 20 for the 12th straight game, extended his all-time record for most consecutive 20pt games from a teenager.
Blake Griffin's 14 consecutive 20 point games is the most by a rookie of any age since 2000. Zion closing in.

Good defense on Zion, using his bodyweight to stop Reid from getting closer to the rim despite giving up plenty of height.
Moore fouls :hihi:
Zion is super effective. How would've thunk?
Wow
Zion's line tonight (26 minutes played)
25 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 1 block. 10/16 shooting (62.5%). Some good individual defense.
He's gud, folks.
Zion didn't foul there, imo. He didn't foul to make McLaughlin fall, and he fell into Zion's knee. Unless they expect Zion to phase out of reality to allow McLaughlin's head to pass through that space, that's not a foul; there's nothing he could have done, and it was entirely a basketball play.
The full 48
Zion's 12 game streak of consecutive 20pt games is the 3rd longest in Pelicans history.
Anthony Davis is the only player with longer; one streak of 13, and another of 20.
Still pretty terrible at help defense. Do you think it's just cause he's 15 games in? Conditioning? Will never have the brain for it? Or doesn't have the lateral ability/wing span for it?
I'm praying for a future where he is one of the most feared help defenders in the league.
Man this team stinks at home.
Jrue always split FT in the 4th man...
Jrue... make a god damn free throw.
Jrue...
So, if we lose this game, is this week setting up to be the death knell of our playoff chances?
We're going to lose this game, aren't we? Hahahaha
Pick and roll is about as basic a thing as it gets and we just cannot guard it.
This game is smeling like a loss...
This is freaking ridiculous.
16-3 run for the Timberwolves? Pathetic!!!
12-19 at home.
This team can't make the playoffs.
I don't want Gentry passed this season more than playoffs.
Zion was a really solid help defender in college. Menace in passing lanes, had great timing, great weakside help anticipation for blocks.
I think it's a combination of a few things that's stopping him in the NBA so far. Part of it is that you have to remember that he's actually still only 16 games in after tonight; defense always takes the longest for the game to slow down. So that's part of it.
Another aspect of it appears to be foul trouble. There are a bunch of times where he's sort of in position to go for the big block and you sometimes even see him tense to go for it, and he just doesn't. I'm guessing that's out of fear of fouling, although obviously I could be wrong.
The final thing (and this is just total guesswork) is that when he played in pre-season, his problem was overhelping. He would often shade so far to help that he'd lose his own man. It's possible that the coaching staff has told him to basically just stick to his man and play the basics, rather than do that. No idea for sure, but it seems possible.
I feel like with a full offseason to get in proper conditioning, and with a training camp to really learn the scheme (we have to remember that he basically came in and just got told to figure things out; he had no training camp or anything due to the injury), he will be much better next year.
Gentry ball at it's finest. Fire that idiot. After 5yrs team still don't know how to run a pick-n-roll so they don't know how to defend it.
Wanna talk playoffs?
The TIMBERWOLVES.
This is the equivalent of losing to the Washington Generals.
Doing dong
Gentry supporters where are you?
Ingram MIA again? + we gotta give this guy 25% of the cap next season.
FOR **** SAKE
Jrue Holiday is a dumb player
Losing to the Lakers was annoying, but fine.
Losing to Dallas tomorrow would be annoying, but fine.
Losing to the Wolves at home is not fine.
Our defense has been a dumpster fire all year long, and it still is. For a long time the excuse was injuries. First to Favors, then it was that Zion's out so Ingram has to defend up a position, etc etc.
Everyone's healthy here. We're playing a garbage team missing its best scorer in KAT.
Where's the defense? Why hasn't it been fixed? Some of it is chemistry and recognition, some of it is individual players, sure, but all of it? All year long? Regardless of the lineup? No way. There's an obvious thread running through all of it.
Holy god we have the lowest cumulative BBIQ in the league... starting with our coach
Pels blowing their playoff chance very disappointing
Team can't hit a three to save it's life.
EDIT: NVM
Zo needed motivation
Yeah, I refuse to accept that the entire problem is just crappy defenders.
Jrue's an excellent defender. Favors is an excellent defender. Lonzo's shown he can play good defense when put in the right position to do so. Melli is a smart enough team defender. Zion sucks as a team defender right now but he's fine 1v1.
We aren't asking for this team to be top 5 on defense. It's clear that we don't have that in us. But we shouldn't be this bad, this consistently. It's a disgrace, and while some of it goes to the players, there's clearly a systemic element here.
Disgrace
I can't believe we lost to these jokers.
This is pathetic effort... They should stay after the game and start practicing defence!!! :bah:
Paging Lonz4 Mvp
Hack a Jrue for the win
