That was ugly.
That was ugly.
Hate coaches that insist on small ball when it's clear it isn't working.
Pels need to adjust to the physicality of what the officials are allowing tonight. But otherwise, keep moving the ball, keep sharing, they are getting open shots every time.
Just gonna note, has anyone else noticed how much better the Knicks look now? I'm not saying Miller is some genius coach, and of course the personnel is still subpar, but they're actually running offense and it doesn't look stupid 100% of the time.
Favors throwing it away at every opportunity
Big sell from that small bump for Redick, really getting the refs to call everything
Nice dunk on the drive from Ingram!
Ingram nails the 3 off the NAW pass, he's hot folks
Great touch finish over Taj from Jax
End of the half, we're up 67-61
Ingram: 17/2/5 with a steal, he's 7/9 for 78% shooting
Lonzo: 11/2/4 with a steal and block, he's 4/9 for 44.4% (3/4 from 3)
Favors: 2/6 with 2 steals and a block, 50%FG
Hart: 3/3/3 on 1/4 shooting
Redick: 4/2/2 on 1/4 shooting
Jax: 9pts, 4rbds, 2blks, 4/4 from the field
NAW: 9pts, 1rbd, 4asts, 3/6 from the field, 3/5 from 3
What really needs to change is the defensive integrity, both in terms of execution but also scheme, in the second half. We gave up 61 points in the first half to a bottom 5 offense that's missing its 2 leading scorers. That's not good enough, tbh. They had 24 points in the paint in the first quarter alone.
looked liked Favors pulled a hammy or something. See if he returns.
Fortunately, we have made improvements since the streak.
TO'ing the ball let the back in it. Should've played half court Offense and let the earn their shots. We kept trying to push it for some reason.
We might see Okafor this half! Scary smit....
Pelicans rookies 2, Kevin Knox 0 pic.twitter.com/GtYTZb2YGZ

Pelicans Rookies just bullying Knox.
I kinda feel bad for Knox. He was a developmental player who needed development and got drafted by one of the worst developmental teams in the NBA who have completely failed to develop him.
He was never going to be an all-star or anything but there's no reason for him to be this bad. He could be better than this.
Very astute (and subtle) commentary by AD regarding Ball's passing. Essentially, he said that it's one thing to make a pass, but even more important to provide for the recipient the ability (and spacing) to do something with it. Some of Ball's passes would be better off not thrown. A point guard can't set a teammate up for failure. It simply can't happen.
Lonzo has historically been a very talented and instinctive passer with relatively low creation abilities. Part of that comes from his reluctance to attack defenses and scramble them (this has obviously been much better recently!) and part of it comes from his annoying tendency to pass out rather than forward, almost resetting the offensive possession but with him in the paint for some reason.
It's why assists alone aren't the best measure of playmaking. I wonder how Lonzo ranks in Ben Taylor's Passer Rating?
That's ridiculous, Hayes didn't foul there :hihi:
Great boxout and one handed board from Jax
Jax dominating the boards now.
Hayes is a force and he's only going to get better
The amount of contact they letting the Knicks get away with this game is criminal
Jax into double digit scoring again. He has 13pts and 7rbds in 17 minutes. This is coming off a game where he had 14pts and 12rbds in 23 minutes.
He's doin the job.
Ingram misses the 3 but gets the call. He's heading to the line; Ingram's shooting exceptionally from the FT line at this point.
Mike Miller challenges the call.
This is ridiculous man...
Jaxson Hayes might be a rookie but he rebounds like a grown man

This is that big boy rebounding :hihi:
I remember when some people (not even on this board, just in general) were worried about Jax as a rebounder because he only averaged 5 boards a game at college. The general response was that he needs to add muscle, gain more experience, and besides, Texas' scheme didn't have him hunting boards often.
This has turned out to be largely true: as he's gained more experience and the game has slowed down for him, his rebounding has improved. Once he starts putting on some muscle it'll only get better.
His defense is still hit and miss, obviously, but it's not as woeful as some people like to make out. He can't defend complex multi-action plays and he still struggles in the pick and roll. He's fine in one on one assignments and in drop coverage schemes. He's 19 years old and half the board said he was a redshirt.
Be positive.
We should be blowing this team out
And now Doris Burke is praising Jax's defense and highlighting a lot of his positives on that end.
Would ya look at that :hihi:
Ingram missed Jax wide open on that roll. Jax had his hand up calling for it. That's a high level pass though, feathering in the lob over the defender, so it would have been good to see it.
Great ball movement, 2 dunks and 2 more NY TO's. This team is rolling, put this garbage team away so the starters can get some rest in the 4th.
Please trade Okafor ASAP.
End of the 3rd, we're up 93-84
Come on guys. Gotta get this one because next game is against Boston and that's gonna be a real tough one to win. If we are still serious about trying to make a run, we've got to clean up games like this.
Really want Jax to get the double double tonight
God help us if Favors is injured and we have to play Oak more minutes next week.
Hayes to the line again. He's a 66% FT shooter but he's only 1-5 tonight going into this.
He makes them both, taking him to 3-7.
Totally unnecessary swipe from Lonzo. Ntilikina had left his feet 8 feet from the basket, he was going to be forced into either a scoop shot or a floater because there was no dump off pass available, and Jax had great position in front of him. No need to just swipe the arm there.
Lonzo needs to be banned from taking off the dribble 20 foot jumpers. He's god awful at them, and they're not great shots in the first place.
Hayes up to 17pts and has 3 blocks. His career high is 19pts.
Monster steal from Hayes.
surely taj gibson would be a cheap get for us.
Hayes has 18/9.
His first career 20/10 night is on the horizon with 8 minutes left in the game.
If you took all our guys who are out for injury, they make up a pretty reasonable starting 5 :hihi:
Jrue/Kenrich/Miller/Zion/Favors
