Tyreke Evans

I think his past medical problems mean we keep him. I think he balls out and is in the running for sixth man. He is the natural replacement for anderson's 6th man production.

That being said, I would trade him to a few different places if the offer was right.

I think there's a feeling that while Tyreke Evans can still contribute to an NBA team. If he's healthy. And again, this is three knee surgeries that we're looking at in the last year. There are going to be questions about his viability in certain systems and certainly his viability from a health standpoint. So, he's not going to be an easy guy to move. But I think the Pelicans are looking at doing that and they will continue to look at it. There is some question on if he would pass a physical at this point. And we don't know. The hope is that he's ready for training camp, but is he ready right now. Is he ready to be dealt right now? I don't know if that's the case. Otherwise the Pelicans don't have much money to play with right now.

It might be a situation where you start the season with Tyreke Evans and they're still looking to deal him after the season starts.

guys talk like he's already off the team which i dont get. He's only got a year left and you're probably not gonna get fair value for him. Why not just keep him and see what he can do? Doesn't gentrys system strive off numerous ball handlers and he's pretty positionless. I know this system likes shooters but Iggy & Livingston were effective when shots weren't falling for the Warriors. I think he'd be great as a sixth man if he's willing to accept that

It is depressing that there is the likelihood that 2 of our highest paid players (Evans and Asik) have almost no value on the market because their style of play is not in demand in today's NBA. What does that say about Demps' vision?

Pelicans tried to "get fair value" for Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson. Instead they got nothing.

To be fair Monty and Demps thought they could CHANGE Reke, just didn't happen. He said all the right things to get the contract. Asik's style of play would be in demand if he was healthy.

Couldn't you make the same argument for Holiday?

I see Tyreke being on the team to start the season. He has to prove that he's healthy before we can get anything for him.

I don't mind Tyreke, but he isn't a good fit for this team. He wants to be the man, and I respect that, but give the ball to AD. There was also the few times where it was obvious he either didn't listen to the play called or just didn't comprehend it and Gentry had to call TO to go over it again or it just looked like a total botch on the court.

There was a ton of that last year and it wasn't just Tyreke. I remember David Westley and Joel Myer used to get just as p!ssed as Gentry when this happened. That also hammers home the fact that our team didn't have the highest of bball intelligence. Reke was just a small piece of that. So drafting a guy like Buddy, and bringing in guys like Solomon Hill and Thomas will hopefully eliminate those useless timeouts.

What exactly are we supposed to demand in return for a guy coming off his 3rd knee surgery in 13 months and only has 1 year left?

I hate it when people just say Tyreke is the problem...

This team I'll not be good next year if you take Tyreke off this team too we will be worse. Sure we picked up some great fits now we lack talent. We lost 2 double figure scorers and want to get rid if one more. I don't see Jrue being able to carry the offensive load of the team. We will have trouble scoring and creatind shots.

Asik's style is not really in high demand for a primary center. If he were a role player, he would fit. Most teams looking for athletic 5s that can also pass. He is neither. He is a solid role player as a banger and defensive 5.

I agree, which may not be that valuable right now but next summer his deal will be worthy of a late first round pick. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping either Tyreke or Asik but would love to get value for them if we can if that means waiting till trade deadline for Tyreke or next summer for Asik. I like Jrue on this team but if he isn't going to resign then move him too.

I disagree. Certainly those things that you mention devalue Tyreke and Asik. However, even healthy, Tyreke is no longer your prototypical guard. It has nothing at all to do with small ball. Teams (as a whole) have shied away from ball dominant guards who slow the pace. Asik would have a little more value because of his defense, but slow lumbering centers who have hands of stone and are not passers are not en vogue right now. He had almost no demand when he was a free agent. Neither would be negative value if healthy and producing, but would also not be in high demand.

If Mozgov got 16m/ yr I think it shows there's still a need for a big like Asik. Evans still has value too, but I think his lack of BBIQ is more the issue with him.

Which is a shame because Tyreke is fun to watch at times.

All I know is I saw a middle of the pack Pg get the highest contract in NBA history, and a very similar player in Evan Turner get what? $19 million a year? If Tyreke plays this year with no injuries, and does what he has done the past couple of seasons (20, 5 and 5 type of production with PER's in the top ten of his position), he's going to make $20+ million from someone.

No, he's not the prototype Pg, but there's not a lot of guys like him either. Don't fool yourself into thinking there aren't a ton of teams that would love to have what a healthy Tyreke brings on the court.

Like with Ryan Anderson, I agree. We have Jrue and Buddy, so there is no chance we will pay Tyreke what it would take to keep him. We should trade him at first opportunity.

And I think that's what they're trying to do. Just hard to trade a guy that's coming off 3 knee surgeries, and known as a ball-dominant guard that's not the best jump shooter. While he has improved... I think most teams will let him shoot jumpers all day.

In 25 games last year Tyreke shot 39% from beyond the arc so he has improved vastly in a short span. He can get to the rim at will but he just does not fit our system. However, some team will take a gamble on him because he is on an expiring contract (Derrick Rose) and it would be a 1yr gamble. I think the writing is on the wall that he is gone because of our latest additions. For people talking that we will struggle to score, think again... We are forming a team with players who know there roles. Last year we got points but they weren't cohesive. This year AD will get his touches, Jrue becomes more aggressive and Buddy will do what we drafted him to do followed by a great supporting cast. I think after the signing period we are trading a combo of either Tyreke, Asik or Ajincia for another center. (Monroe, Vucevic, Plumlee...)

A team in the East that should be a playoff team and also wants to have cap space for next year, would consider trading for Tyreke.

That's why I keep looking at the Celtics.

They could bench him until he's 100%, and save him for the 2nd half of the season if necessary. That team doesn't want to commit to long term salary with any of the guys still on the market, and doesn't have openings on the roster to sign a bunch of guys to smaller one year deals. Tyreke fits perfectly financially, and potentially as another scorer off the bench.

Best case scenario is he's ready at the beginning of the season and has a 6th Man of the Year type campaign for a team that could be the 2nd seed in the East.

People are eyeing Sullivan in a S/T, and he'd be exactly the kind of player the Pelicans have gone after this offseason.

With Wade off their books, does Miami need to send anything out to bring Tyreke in? Not necessarily saying we should give him away for nothing, just wondering if it is technically possible. With so many player moves and salaries it's not like the ESPN trade machine is accurate. It's not even accurate at quiet times of the year. Mostly just wondering since it would make 3 team trades easier, like Tyreke goes to Miami and we send Alexis somewhere and get back a player from that 3rd team

What about Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans for Goran Dragic and Josh McRoberts? Dragic is on a bargain 3 year $15 million per year contract.

Getting Skal would be interesting. Wonder if it could also throw in Eric Moreland just for good measure. Could easily dump him at some point in the future, but eh. He's a bit light on the scale, but his length is significant.

If we can trade with the Kings, I really want to get Willie Cauley Stein. His ability to defend would slide in nicely with this group.

Yeah, if we could get WCS for Reke, that would just be perfect. The Kings have such a logjam at center, and almost no starter-quality guards, so I think we have a legitimate shot at working something out. WCS and AD would be the most terrifying frontcourt in the league.

If we're going to dream of unrealistic things then why limit yourself to just that. Let's dream big! Reke for LBJ in a S&T where LeBron takes 10m for 4 years. Oh and the Cave have to throw in a 1st round pick too.

They have something like 4 centers, 2 of whom are rookies and one of whom is a superstar, surely they have to give up at least one. And this is the Kings we're talking about man, I fully believe they're capable of making a trade like that. I admit it's not incredibly likely, but its hardly out of the realm of possibility.

I keep telling people this. Langston and Moore and more SG than PG. Moore plays like Delly and Langston is a good defender with a unreliable offensive game. He's not a playmaker or ball handler.

We don't want Galloway to be the backup PG. He's a spot up shooter who can create for himself, but he's not a PG. I can see hime being used a lot in a 3 guard lineup during rotations, but I don't want him to be the backup PG. I really want him to be a SG with Frazier being the legitimate backup PG.

That's the thing - it doesn't look like we've got the money to retain Frazier at this point so my Q is who's the backup PG on this team? Galloway & Moore kind of overlap as backup SGs so if you have a guy who can guard 3s but play the 1 on offense (Tyreke) it at least makes a little more sense to me as to why we got both of those guys. But then of course that opens up questions like what happens to Q-Pon in a situation like that? Seems too short to play the 4

Tyreke, Ajinca, and a 2nd round pick? I like WCS, but he's a backup big on a team with A LOT of bigs. I can't imagine the price is really all that high.
