What I've been saying all along and I got accused of wanted to blow up the team and not being a real fan. I was just saying it like it is.

The Pelicans need to tank. They need to sign Harrison Barnes, Mike Conley, Terrence Jones and Festus Ezeli. Let Gordon, Anderson, and Cole walk. Draft Jaylen Brown and trade Jrue holiday and Asik as a salary dump. . Starters: Conley, Pondexter, Barnes, Davis, Ezeli. Bench Evans, Brown, Babbitt, Jones, Ajinca. This team would be great defensively.
Mission impossible?
I am against tank, reason 1 in 2-3 weeks we will have everyone back unless we have other set back we will finish 500 even if we start 0-10
reason 2, lotto is never a sure thing I rather trade that #1 + filter for DMC and hire JVG. Reke, EG, Q, AD and DMC
I'll put this here again but the best team in the league in a similar situation:
Curry
Brandon Rush
James McAdoo
Draymond Green
Festus Ezeli
With Klay Thompson on a minutes/b2b restriction. So he wouldn't have played against us back on 10/31.
Backups:
??
Barbosa
??
??
??
Fact is that we need a young stud.
This is the perfect year to tank and get a top 3 pick.
I have two fears:
1. This team is bad enough to get a top 5 pick.
2. Dell won't accept that and trades away our pick before the trade deadline.
If this season does turn bad which I don't think it will then I would love to get Simmons of course. If we don't land the first pick I would rather trade for Boogie Cousins or Paul George. Either one of those guys would be exactly what we need. Cousins would give us the most dominant big man duo hands down and even rival some of the best of all time. George would be great giving us one of the top SFs in the NBA at our weakest position. I think both could be had for a lottery pick and the only way I wouldn't move it for them is if we had the 1st pick with the shot to get Simmons. So I guess I would hold onto the pick until after we see where we place in the lottery but like I said both players I think could be had for a lottery pick towards the top and would rather go that route instead of hoping one of those players turns out to be what is expected. Trade for Cousins and sign Barnes now that would be one hell of an offseason giving us a championship contending team if you ask me.
I think both Paul george or cousins would cost more than a lottery pick, regardless a jrue tyreke george ad asik lineup could be devastatingly good, both offensively and defensively.
What lineup is better?
Jrue tyreke george ad asik
Jrue tyreke qpon ad cousins
Trade for cousins, sign bradley beal
Jrue beal tyreke ad cousins
Championship.
Damnit people
We lost 3 games we shouldn't have.
That's not the end of the world.
Yes it's tank time. Go ahead and move Ryno and Gordon. Get younger and faster by any means necessary. Get whatever you can for them. Don't be picky. Let Tyreke rest until he's fully healthy. Keep Jrue on the minute restriction. If the team makes a run because AD starts going off then that's cool. But this team needs to start finding their true identity. Most of the guys on this roster won't be here when the team is ready and if they are playing like this it doesn't make since to keep them around. Try to groom/find ADs true supporting cast

Another fail from demps, how long it gonna take until we realize he is part of the problem?
Jrue or Noel and Payton?
We all know what the correct answer is.
What's the point in battling back to a 37-45 record?
WHY is the prevailing thought we would've drafted Noel?
I'm anti tank because in all likelihood Dell is gonna trade the pick for an injured young vet. I'd rather build with what we've got
Tank/Total rebuilding=Unhappy AD
Unhappy AD may fly away from NO like CP3 did. Because he wants to win.
I see the scenario when Dell trades away the pick to help team short term. To remain as a GM.
Indi might trade PG but only for AD.
GSW will match any offers for Barnes.
Our only chance to add quality pieces like Free agents is to play good...
That's going above and beyond the realisim spectrum.
Yeah, we did that with Jrue, but Philly played us with some seriously shady crap. You make it seem like we did it on purpose. And absolutely no way if we won the lottery would we trade that pick unless we are doing some kind of sign and trade deal to get Durant.
Let's say we don't get fully healthy until we are 20 games in, and are 4-16. We'd have to go like 21-41 over the final 62 to have a realistic chance at a top pick.
Is that enough logic to stop this silly thread or are you guys gonna continue with the overreaction?
But logically speaking the odds of this occuring again is so slim. Besides the Spurs what other situation and how often has that acutally happen? The lateral normally points to a disgruntled superstar, a overhaul of management, and new regime/growing process which sounds very familiar to this organization. What was the result of that?
It's been like that.
And it's no better on SaintsReport today. Or TigerDroppings.
*sigh* Just a miserable weekend. Been a while since all three of my teams lost at the same time.
I don't want my team to tank, I want to see them as a fully healthy team and watch them play good basketball!
I don't think we'll be in position to tank however this is looking like a wasted year.
No year is wasted. Within the vacuum of the year, maybe. But there are always things to learn and individual areas to improve.
I mean, where do we draw the line on whether a year is "wasted"? 29 teams don't win the title. Do we say that all playoff teams had a worthwhile year and the rest wasted one? That doesn't seem right to me. Can't be that simple
I've always been of the mindset, that I either want my team to make the playoffs or tank for a top pick. Worst case scenario to me is we get healthy and are a .500 team from that point on. Bad enough to miss the playoffs, but not bad enough to get a legit star in the draft.
In theory, that is worst case but it depends on your situation. Losing begets a losing culture. Winning, a winning one. You put THESE guys in a position to lose, and it won't matter what star 19 year old you bring in, they won't have the type of mentality you want.
I don't think people are truly thinking about what ranking would do to these players and this franchise in reality. You are thinking about it like it is 2K.
I don't think advocating for a top pick, because our team is playing bad basketball, makes someone unintelligent. Impatient perhaps, but not dumb. I'm not throwing in the towel and on the tank train. I sincerely hope we turn this thing around and get healthy and start winning games. I'm just not very optimistic at this point, mainly because of the coaching staff/system. It's not because we're 0-6. I wasn't happy with the hire when we made it. I really wanted JVG and when I saw we hired Gentry instead, I got pretty upset. I calmed down and decided to see where things went, but in the small sample size we've had so far, I thinks my fears well legitimate. We don't have the guard play to effectively run this system. I think Reke and Cole will improve things, but not drastically. As long as AD is healthy, I don't think a top 5 pick is realistic, so I'm still hopeful we can turn things around. If we haven't turned things around by January, then I'll get on the tank train. I'm not there yet.
It's a year wasted if the team doesn't show significant improvements. The decision to trade away draft picks put us on an accelerated clock and marginal improvements or even worse a slight step back is a wasted season. I dont subscribe to the thought that you win a title or you failed. However each individual franchise have their own goals based on several things.
I didn't realize that my silly thread would be taken so seriously. That would be like implying that you seriously expected the Pelicans to go 0-3 when you made that prediction last week on the "In The NO Podcast and just wasn't being silly. Or that you seriously believe Ryan will decipher one of your obscure Hip-Hop references and aren't just having fun. BTW, I prefer the Jarron Benton and Run-D.M.C.'s Adidas references to yours but I wouldn't criticize you or race you to the top of Timpanogos Cave over it.
I 100% agree that it is a wasted season if the team doesn't show improvement. But not making the playoffs doesn't necessarily go hand in hand with that. Let's say we were an 80 by the end of last year. Now, we have taken a big step back due to growing pains, and mostly injuries. We are a 65. However, over the last two months we are playing at an 88 level, but we didn't make the playoffs because of the big hole that we started in.
In your opinion, in that exact scenario, is it a wasted season? Because that is what I am talking about when I say I don't think a non-playoff season is necessarily a lost season.
Exactly.
Lets face it we only made the playoffs because AD hit a lucky shot against OKC to take the series.
Because we made the playoffs last year everyone's expectations are playoffs this year and maybe even getting out of the first round.
These guy's have a steep learning curve and the injuries AGAIN aren't helping.
I think with everyone healthy we would still only be 3-3.
