That won't be the backcourt. If anything it'll be Burke and Rivers if not Burke and Gordon.

Lack of draft workouts and now this?Hmmm...
I don't buy that they would leave him out just because fans do not like him. I would think they would include him to try and improve his image. He really is fan friendly if you meet him. I would have him at the draft party for the fans to mingle with. Also, as fragile as his ego appears to be, it would be odd to exclude him just a year after he was touted as the star of the team (and even included in the draft workouts).
Is this really a shock? We know Eric does not want to be here. The Pelicans said a long deal that they would listen to trade ideas. Hopefully PHX wants him again.
I'm sure Indiana would be interested to talk too. Perhaps we are much closer to a Granger deal than people think? John Reid is on it. Especially if Gayle and Tom want a local player on the team.
Taking a wild guess here... But I have a feeling Benson and his guys does not like Gordon. My money is on Lauscha, Looomis, and co. They have been emphasizing the need to have a team the fans can be proud of. They've been consistently saying this since last season. I think there's a chance that he isn't part of the team by the end of the year.
I love Granger, but if we get rid of 24 year old damaged goods I don't want to replace it with 30 year old damaged goods. He doesn't have quite the history like Gordon does, but in the last 2 seasons he has missed 97 games. And the 5 from last year shouldn't even count but I included those.
TBH, if we got Granger it wouldnt be the worst move in NBA history. Grangers game is very Grant Hill like. While he has been hurt the last few years; his career has shown he is a gamer, and that his game is his shot and defense, not his athleticism. He has aged well.
It is strange and perhaps they were informed to not market EG because he will not be here long. However, that seems like a pretty big jump to make. While it could be that for sure, it could just as easily mean nothing at all.
TO answer the question, Yes he is.
Perhaps it was the shooter on the grassy knoll ?? Jet Contrails?? or the cover up in Roswell????
While they excluded Gordon, they included Vasquez. Does that mean that Vasquez is part of the long term while Gordon isn't? After so many people here thought we were going to dump GV for any trade that comes along. Smdh
I've been saying this since Benson bought the team. Gordon IS NOT a Benson/Loomis guy.
You realize Gordon's contract is the 2nd highest contract Tom Benson has ever paid??? Drew Brees had to negotiate til blood was drawn to get a few million dollars more than Gordon is getting a year, and this was AFTER winning a championship and breaking records.
I know people will say it's apples and oranges, but it's the same man picking the fruit and signing the checks!
The highest paid player on a Benson team needs to be a winner, a leader, someone who shows up and performs night in and night out, and not the least of all, someone that is committed to this community.
We all remember Benson threatening to leave N.O. after Katrina (hell, all of us thought about never coming back if we're honest with ourselves), but Benson really did have a "come to Jesus" moment with the assistance of many people, and he's done a 180 in terms of his commitment to New Orleans. Making sure the players are committed to this city is part of the organizational culture the Benson's and Saints have built.
Ask yourself this: What football player is Eric Gordon most like? Would Loomis/Benson invest in that player as the highest paid player on our team? Would they cut him if he had the same lack of leadership skills that Gordon has demonstrated, was always injured, and never embraced the orginaztional culture and local community.
If I was Dell I'd be thinking about what could Eric Gordon and the #6 pick get us and see if I can package them together, clear the only bad contract on my books, and pick up a better asset or assets than I could get at 6.
can we just trade Gordon to Phx for the 5th pick already?
then we could draft burke and porter and sign either tyreke or oj mayo.
or draft burke and oladipo and sign iggy or budinger.
Perhaps the "Big" picture is that it's possibly a no win situation in reguards to Gordon with some fans. Maybe if he was included, the same fans would be gripping that he's included and he hasn't played half a seasons worth of games for the team in two years, why should he be included?
There are a lot of teams that have a lot of the cap space in a relatively weak free agent class. They will consider trading for Gordon. Teams like Wolves, Bobcats, Pistons, and Jazz that struggle to attract difference making free agents might consider Gordon. Pacers and Bulls, teams that need a SG to be really elite, may be in the market for a risk like Gordon.
If your PR staff and coaches can't even mention the guy because the community doesn't like him, it says a lot...
Matter of opinions. To me it seems almost common sense to have your highest paid player on a presser. Unless it's a wierd situation where your team took on a huge expiring contract. Gordon was sold to us a the franchise when we matched his contract now he's not on a presser. That's a huge change in just one year. Again IMO leaving him off is a big deal adding him is nothing. How many people here want Vasquez either gone or on the bench. He made the thing.
I am completely over Gordon. I just want the team to get a legitimate return for him. If the best they can do is a single unprotected lottery pick, then so be it.If the best they can get is a couple of solid bench players, I'll take it. Just get him, his high salary and his injuries out of New Orleans.
Gordon to Pacer for 23/Granger.
Gordon to Bulls for 20/Deng.
Gordon to Wolves for 9/Williams.
And would MJ do this... Gordon/6 to Bobcats for MKG/4....! (Bobcats draft Bennett.... Pelicans draft McClemore, Len or Noel!!!!!)
The Wolves jump out at me. They need to impress their franchise player. They may lose Pekovic and we could couple Lopez in the deal. They are trying to dump salary. Rumors were they were trying to trade up so making a splash at the expense of their draft pick is on their radar and they might not be impressed with the potential prospects at 9th. They could take on Gordon's contract and re-sign Pekovic if they move Kirilenko and Ridnour and/or Barea.
A team of
Pekovic/Lopez
Love/Cunningham
Williams/Budinger
Gordon/Shved
Rubio/Barea
Could be a tough team next year maybe even competing for home court in the 1st round of the playoffs tough.
Would you invite Gordon to your party? Serious question.
Only if it was a pity party.
I agree a million% and I think you might be able to get MCW or Burke at 9, freeing you up to do any number of things at 6, including trading up, trading for a vet, or picking Porter or Dipo. And you make Wolves use cap space so that if you come back around in July and sign Pek to an offer sheet, it becomes difficult for them to match.
Something like 9/Williams for Gordon. Keep 9. Use Williams and 6 to move up and grab whatever player you really want.
Supposedly, LAC is interested in Danny Granger. What about Gordon to Indiana, Granger to LAC, and Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan, and Indiana's 1sts round pick to us?
Draft Oladipo, and sign Iggy.
That said, I'm not a huge fan of trading Gordon.
I posted this a few months back....

We say Gordon is anti-social. Is he really though? How 'social' should he be? Should he talk more? Smile more? Is he 'anti-social' or is he 'quiet'? I was just reading Darius Miller's twitter and someone he knows is apparently visiting him in New Orleans right now. This is what the guy tweeted 2 hours ago...

Last night was mad real @TheofficialEG10 funny AF lol
Surely he can't be talking about Eric Gordon right? Funny? Gordon? Imagine that.
WE might not invite him to our parties but it's not like he'd come to some random fan party anyway would he? :hihi: We don't KNOW Eric Gordon. All we KNOW is how he APPEARS TO BE.
About a couple weeks ago I posted nearly the exact trade Slim just rolled out:
http://www.pelicansreport.com/showth...-Granger/page2
Minus the 1st pick, would be a nice penny to pick up along with as well. It's honestly the most likely trade I see, even more likely than my Minny trade. I don't really like it as much tho. Can't stand Jordan.
@ThreeMVP
Exactly what I was saying. You force them to go cheap for their center which pushes Pek to FA. You could even get them to do a move similar to how we got Ryan Anderson last summer where we sign and trade with the Wolves for Pek by offering them Lopez.
I liked the Bledsoe\Jordan trade then and I still like it now. The Minny trade is good too, would love to end up with porter and KCP.
Also if Gordon is gone, I'm all in on Iggy.
Could be that Gordon is still rehabbing in LA and doesn't want to lose focus, or make a trip back to NOLA just to see fans for one night and then turn back around for rehab on the following Monday. He could just be cheap, the team may pay for a lot, but they don't pay for everything. Also, maybe they asked and he declined, or they just keep silent on him because they know that whatever they say, positively or negatively will impact his value. Excluding him for public appearances may work to keep him focused on his rehab and also work to put other teas on notice that he can be had for the right price and that Gordon would be amenable to that.
Some of yall are being a tad bit jumpy lol. Remember how Gordon missed a game with a hand injury and the board went trade happy? Chances are this means absolutely nothing; you arent going to sell fans on Gordon. Vazquez brings an international fanbase while players like Anthony give us hope. This dont mean poopdiddlysquat.
