I'm sure they would like a practice facility that is not owned by someone else and they are not kicked out of half the time for a jewelery show.

Some of this and more are raised here: http://www.bourbonstreetshots.com/20...-makes-normal/
Back in the late 90s the Alario Center would have been fine. The Clippers and many other teams had to go bounce around their city borrowing university courts and such. Now most teams have these dedicated facilities so you have to compete. This is long overdue to get talent to play here.
I'm sorry the Alario Center didn't work out. It really wasn't bad for a practice facility, but like luckyman pointed out, today's athletes just want more. I really liked them practicing over here because it made me feel like the team was connected to the West Bank. Yet, I understand they need a place they could call their own, some place that won't be used as a food stamp distribution center. But :bfight: don't be dissing Westwego as if Kenner/Metairie area is some hot vacation spot.
Well, I'm in Harvey, just a spitball or two away. I only rag on Westwego because I literally NEVER go there unless it's on my way to cross the Huey P or if I'm going...well...west.
I'm not from Westwego. I just feel like I got to stick up for another West Bank city lol.
How many other professional teams share a facility with the rest of their parish/county? Having their own facility, no matter where it is, is what counts the most.
This will feel more permanent and at home to the players/coaches.Quote:
When you walk through, because you've been in so many other players, you can envision what it's going to be like to have our own spot where we can finally just leave your shoes and leave stuff for a long time and not having to worry about Big Shot (equipment manager David Jovanovich) taking it downtown.
Now they get to see beautiful Airline Drive.
This is my last thread hijack FlyGirl, I promise. But real talk, if anyone is on the Westbank, you should check out Nola Motorsports Park. It is right down the street from the Alario Center (as you go towards Lapalco not the Expressway). It's listed as being in Avondale not Westwego, though. Anyway, if you like driving go-karts or you have your own motorbike or like to race cars in general, you should check out the tracks. The karts go like 70 mph. One of the best kept secrets on this side of the river.
I was there Saturday for something unrelated.
It's a great facility.
Don't forget the TPC golf course. Does Chris Paul still do his golf tourney there?
Saw it as I passed Saints camp yesterday. It looks pretty much done except for some minor detailing&landscaping. Looks small from the street view but goes way back almost to the Saints cafeteria.
The iron fences are now up around the parking area at the Pels facility. Looks like I'm going to have to find another spot to watch the fireworks on Friday nights during Zephyr season.
