With only 1,300 tickets remaining, the Hornets are expecting to achieve their 15th consecutive sellout at the New Orleans Arena for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks. The streak dates to last season when the Hornets won a franchise-record 56 games.
15th straight sell-out. Keep them coming New Orleans, we will do our part.
This is a great time for New Orleans sports and for the Hornets.

I think the Saints being out of town for 5 weeks helps.. people are desperate for pro sports...
disappointing attendance tonight
please tell me you are joking, the att. was 16,030 during the middle of the week, there were times last year when we struggled to make 13 on a good night, and this is bad???????, dude you need to chill if you really think 16+ on a wed is disappointingQuote:

It is kinda funny seeing some people concerned or even complaining about attendance. Check out some of the attendances at NBA games this week on Monday, last night, and tonight. That's all I've got to say.
16,000 will be close to the average we have this year, it could be closer to 17K but the numbers are not dissapointing. There will end up being a sellout streak just like last year, wait until later in the season for that. I notice a lot of people taking advantage of some decent priced hornets gear which is good, I hope business is good in that aspect. The team needs as much revenue as possible so they can stay and be competitive, I know the people here are doing it but that should also continue to grow.
16K on a Wednesday against the Hawks? Whats the problem?
It wasnt 18,000 duh silly. :hihi:Quote:

Last year at this time we were struggling to get 10,000 for a mid-week game against a bad drawing team like Atlanta. I have no problem with 16,000 last night. People need to relax a little.
All in favor of closing all attendance threads motion by saying "I"

Ticket sales are great this year. They will meet the required average. We don't have to worry like we did last year.
The empty seats everyone saw at the game were mostly season ticket holders who can't make it to a Wednesday game and didn't give away or sell their tickets.
There were times when the crowd was loud. Just its too early to expect the crowds like the end of last season. There are soo many games, four more Hornets Home games before the next Saints home game. We have lots of games, come 2009 people will mostly be complaining about not being able to find tickets, not attendence.
I, with a subsequent motion to send all attendance and relocation related threads promptly to The Dump, where they can be properly mocked and shamed before they are incinerated from existence.
I... just wanted to point out that it's actually "Aye" (as opposed to "Nay").
As in "the ayes have it" when voting.
I approve of this thread!Quote:

Looks like the NBA is going to be relocating a lot of teams this season. :hihi:
:hihi:Yeah I know. If you can't even pass up New Orleans then you should move even DURING the middle of the season. :hihi:Quote:

NAY
I don't worry about attendance, but I'm still curious to know how many people went/showed up on a game by game basis. Pure curiosity.
I dont get why so many are bothered by this thread. If ya hate it, then dont read it. But please dont lock it.
Completely agree LafourcheSaint, if you hate it so much then don't read it. I also like seeing not just our attendance but other teams as well. Speaking of, did anybody notice how terrible the Bobcats attendance was tonight? I wonder if the collapse of the banking industry in Charlotte is really hurting that area?
I have to admit the Jokelahoma was right one time ... they did say Oklahoma city was the next Charlotte. After watching the game tonight I have no doubt that is there future.
NAY!!!
I'm with LafourcheSaint and SaintfanHornet, if you don't like this thread, it's pretty simple - DON'T CLICK ON IT!!! Y'all are acting like y'all are FORCED to read this thread, it is a CHOICE. Some of us like discussing attendance.
Miami Heat Game, 11/8 17,701.. To be honest, I didn't think it was that high so I was pleasantly surprised!
Looked like 17,700 to me. I think 18,500 is a hard sell out and 16,800 is a soft sellout. The lower bowl was pretty packed, even the hub club was packed which i didn't see on Wednesday night.
That's not how you define hard and soft sellouts.
Both the lower level and club level are sold out for the season, there was just some no shows which still counts towards attendance. I always pay attention to the upper endzone, that is where the majority of tickets are available for each games but walk ups usually snag those. This year will be a good attendance year, the support for the team has been great and we will end the season very respectfully with the final numbers, just won't be in the top 10 due to the arena only holding a little more than 18,000 at the most. When all said in done we will be about 14 or 15 in attendance this year would be my guess.
A hard sell out is defined as every last ticket being sold, which is around 18,500. A soft sell out is the official sell out number set by the league and team, somewhere near 16,800. It is called a soft sell out because there are still tickets left to be sold.
NAY
why squelch discussion? attendance is clearly something people care about. and it's relevant issue.
and i for one enjoy talking about it, now that we're selling well ;)
if you don't want to participate, don't. it's a big board.

Via a quick Ticketmaster search, as you would expect, tomorrows game is probably already a sell out.. I did a search for 1 ticket in the 300 level and resulted in none being available. I could not find tickets for the 100 level off court, or club seats.
I did find a couple seats in the BB row of 117 for 800 bucks a piece.
For those that are not familiar, Just because ticket master doesn't have any tickets left to sell doesn't mean that there are no tickets left to purchase. What happens is that the Hornets can block off a group, or groups of tickets to sell over the phone. While they are blocked off ticketmaster sees them as not available. These may get released for sale via ticketmaster. If they are not sold within 3 hours of gametime they get reserved for gametime walk up sale at the arena. However, with all that said, if ticket master can't find any tickets there likely are very few tickets left to bad had not counting 3rd party resellers suck as stub hub or ticket exchange.
With all that jibber jabber out of the way, does anyone here not expect this to be a capacity croud tomorrow night! The arena should be rockin!
I think we should worry about this every single-game of the season. I mean, if people can worry about our biggest games, I expect more people to worry about the crappy games. :hihi:
