I have a herniated disc myself. This is not good at all.
There goes the playoffs.
By the article, recovery time can be 1-6 months depending on the person and the severity of the injury.
His season is likely over, I think that it's the same injury affecting Okafor
Yeah boys, we're done.
Glad Ryno doesn't have any nerve damage or anything...but we're done.
Just so disappointing, I feel so terrible for Ryan. I wish him a speedy recovery, but hope he doesn't rush back. This season won't be important in terms of wins and loses long term, so I hope he doesn't rush back and do anything to hurt himself long term.
For those looking for optimism, Peyton Manning had a herniated disc and four neck surgeries, and returned to play the best football of his life at 37.
Geesh...what bad luck this season...unbelievable...:s
Philly is probably cheering this injury just as they boo injured Saints players. I hate that entire fan base so much.
For Monty and Dell, this entire season has been the worst case scenario. Most of us agreed that this season is an evaluation & growth year, but this team hasn't been able to be truly evaluated all season because they've never been at full strength. And unfortunately, that will hold true for the rest of the season.
For instance, if healthy we could have looked at the Pacers and Heat games this week as true barometer games regardless of result. But now if we're blown out by both like we should now, what can we really determine??
Can it really get any worse than this?
No, wait, wait, delete that last one.
the silver lining is that although expectations were high this season, this team is still extremely young. building chemistry is going to be key the rest of the way & hopefully develop the younger guys a little more now
Pelicans leading scorer Ryan Anderson out indefinitely with herniated disc; New Orleans 3-7 this season without him: http://t.co/D85NvTRtIn

Pelicans are 6-11 when either Davis (3-4) or Anderson (3-7) are sidelined, but 9-6 when both of them are on floor. NOLA's top two scorers

Someday, maybe, we will get to see @PelicansNBA at full strength. Has never been the case since well before departure of West and Paul.

So if the Pelicans were to (t word that many of us hate), does that mean we'd be in position to keep our pick to Philly? How does that work?
This is a bad day.
Wondering if this might actually save Monty's job.

Realistically, we would have to finish with at least the 5th worst record.
With talent like AD, Jrue, Tyreke, and EG, that's a virtual impossibility.
Is it wrong to cheer for the "t word" in the hopes of retaining our pick now.
Oh God not again.
What if this team rallied and made the playoffs, how crazy of a story would that be.
I got a herniated disk in my back this summer. Sucks. With rehab, I was able to run again in about a month, but surgery really isn't avoidable if you want to be a pro athlete. He could get rehab and play in February or March through the rest of the year, but whats the point?
Do the surgery and hope it sticks. My doctor told me only about 70% of first time surgeries are successful. Manning had to have multiple surgeries. Get in there, get it done. Hope it sticks, and if not, get the second surgery done this summer as opposed to October.
What a tough year for this guy. He's been through Hell and back, and he didn't deserve any of it. I'm not saying Wallace whacked Ryno on purpose, but damnit man you can't be that reckless.
Half empty:
- We lost our leading scorer - 20ppg gone
- We lost our best 3pt threat - Morrow is really the only 3pt 'specialist' now
- We lost another big - With Smith out, we literally have no backup PFs on the team. I'd expect Amudson to be resigned or to see AFA play some PF
Half full (if you can even consider these positives):
- More shots for Davis, Holiday, Evans, and Gordon
- If there was any chance of Ryno being traded, that just decreased to 0%
- We get to see how the players/coaches deal with adversity - Think if this team were contending this year, let's see how we respond when a key player goes down.
That's it. Back to being depressed now.
This does seem rather unfortunate. Wish him a good recovery. But some possible good news is...#AjincaUnleashed
Ajinca is now going to get a great opportunity to develop and prove his worth. Maybe he can turn into a really solid asset. We have him signed into next year. Elite 4th big, here we come.
Wow. First Tyreke steps on someone's foot and wrecks the same ankle twice within weeks, now this worst case.
I hope this team responds and guys like Morrow step up. I'm also holding out hope this disc problem is as minor as possible.
I need a drink. And I don't even drink.
Glass half full take: AD and to a lesser extent Jrue get to extert their personality on this team. I hurt for Ryno and I don't want to see anyone injured especially someone like Ryno, a total stand up guy and class act, but this is a superstar driven league. Our two most likely candidates for that status and catalysts for future success are those two guys. I don't mean to sound harsh in the wake of a great guy's injury, but there was always something out of whack about Ryno being our most important player. Now there are a variety of factors for that: age, experience, Ryno's elite shooting, etc., but the fact remains that in order for us to ascend AD has to assume his place as the alpha dog. Injuries have played a part in this process throughout sports history but I'll give you two recent and relevent examples. Danny Granger and Alex Smith. Both of those guys were the most important players on good teams, their replacements are critical pieces and catalysts for potentially great teams. The difference for us is Ryno can return and seemlessly add his game to whatever has become of our team in his absence. We should take solace in that. I find it very congruent that AD has very recently played his 82nd NBA game. His true rookie season just finished a few weeks ago, his 2nd season begins with some adversity. I think we will emerge from this the better.
Ryno is out the hospital.
Yep.
Finally out of the hospital! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers everyone. pic.twitter.com/9JV2hO1NYm

i know we go on and on about gordon and his injuries and say guys are injury prone and it is a skill to be healthy...but a lot of times it is just a matter of luck..that is really it..and this franchise has only bad luck it seems
Our fifth best players goes down and the season is over I don't think so , what other team would think like that .
