Why can't Kobe (A top 10 player ever) hit a 40% clip from 3 once in his career? His career average is .335... Is it because he didn't level the freak up?
What about Michael Jordan (the greatest ever) who shot a career .327 clip from 3 and had the benefit of a few years with a closer 3 point line?
Okay, so I ran the numbers. If Tyreke just finished at the rim at the same exact rate he did last year. Nothing else changed, he would be shooting 44.8% this year and averaging 13.4 points in just 24.7 minutes of play - giving him a per 36 average of 19.5 ppg.
I would take that and be happy to give him the 11 mil when you combine it with the assists and rebounds. Yes, an improved shot would be nice, but if he just finishes at the rim the way he has shown he could in past, he would be well worth the $$ in my opinion.
I know people are thinking Tyreke is playing awful right now, but the way I see it is he only has one issue. His shot isn't falling. Take last night for example. In 25 minutes he took 13 shots and only made 2. Awful I know. But he also had in those same 25 minutes 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 block. If he even shoots his season average and makes 3-4 more shots everything is fine and we aren't complaining. Combined with no fouls being called for the Pelicans last night his game was doomed. The other team sold out protecting the basket because we didn't have anyone else doing anything outside of the paint.
Look back at his last 10 games which was his "slump", he is averaging 10-4-4 in 22 minutes. He just gives us SO much more than getting to the rim. Few people talk about that aspect of his game. I have no doubts on a fully healthy team, Tyreke is getting us 15-5-6 every night with his current 25 mpg. Increase that and he's beast mode on a healthy team.
I've never seen Tyreke finish this poorly at the basket. I would've ranked him right with LeBron for players above 6'5" at finishing near the basket. Always had a great touch there, but this season he's just been off the mark save for that brief period in December.
His past 2 seasons he was finishing at the basket at a 55-56% clip. This season he's currently at about 47%. I know it should be easier for him when he has other threats on the floor to kick it out to. But still, even when he gets to the basket his layups just don't seem to be falling as much. Also, we don't know how that ankle feels on a nightly basis.
IMO Everything comes down to reek being uncomfortable with his role. He is accostumed to playing with the ball in order to create for himself and others. That's not what he's doing here. While I agree Reke should adjust, work on his shooting and become a more complete player, Monty should do the same. Adjust. Make better in game adjustment. Be flexible and understand that not all player can be mold to his wishes. Realize that using the players to their strength will get better results than forcing them to play to their weakness and benching them if they don't play"Monty's way".
I'm no expert but it seems obvious that Reke should on the court with shooters yet I'm constantly seeing AA on the court with him. I will put 35% fault on Reke for his struggles. He's a professional and should be able to adjust to whatever is thrown at him. 65% of the fault is on the coach. Use your players to their strength and stop being so stubborn.
I feel the Evans signing is hard to put your finger on so far, but the Pels are in deep with him (both financially and expectation wise)...it looks to me that he is still a tad bulky and just isn't displaying the undeniable quickness, strength, and finishing prowess he has displayed in the past...as pointed out, this was his one true calling card all along, and something seems to be amiss right now.....This one has the potential to haunt the Demps/Williams regime.... p.s. I could have used other words. but amiss just seemed so appropriate at the moment...
Evans needs to play with a fast break team. He is the classic example of Monty and Dell not being on the same page. Evans can not play in any half court system whether the coach is Monty or Larry Brown. It is like asking Bress to be an option quarterback.
You know, I'm watching vids of him right now and I'm saying to myself, he definitely thrives in fast break transition. Most times your team has to get defensive stops though in order to go on a fast break. Our defense hasn't been anything to write home about lately. He CAN play half court but he just seems to thrive more in fast breaks.
question, did we sign tyreke before or after we traded for jrue?
thats weird, if we woulda signed him before jrue then i would understand, no way we would have known jrue would have been made available. But to have 36 million tied up between 3 guards is a little crazy, unless dell truely thought he could move gordon, im not spending 11 mil on a 6th man who gets 24 minutes...
Tyreke sucks

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at this point. Not concerned at the moment.
also I cant imagine he will be happy here much longer getting less minutes than Brian Roberts
