He's from Syracuse. I don't trust players coming out of that school to not bust spectacularly.
He has some really strong indicators of NBA level talent ... rebounds well for a point, racks up steals, has tremendous, tremendous size and length for the position. Great court vision. His shot isn't there right now, and if its broken like Rondo's then he'll struggle in the pros. But I don't know that that's the case.
I actually really like him, and Weiland (HoopsAnalyst) I think is one of the more accurate prognosticators out there. He gets some wrong, though, and I would NOT take him over Trey. Burke seems to baffles Weiland, who's gone back and forth on him as a prospect over the last couple months.
IMO, Burke would be the single biggest first-year upgrade to us of anyone in the draft. He's coming in with a ton of experience running an NBA system with the pick and roll, he handles the ball a ton yet doesn't turn it over (and this was true in his freshman season as well). Great shot and range. Would shore up a lot of our problems IMO.If Vasquez can play some 3 as well, as Demps hinted at recently, I think a lineup of Burke/Gordon/Grievis/Anderson and Davis could do some serious work offensively (depending on how ready Davis is to take center).
I've said for this whole year that MCW reminds me of Greivis, exactly so. I didn't realize he was so athletic, though. Isn't that all anyone could ever actually expect out of a point guard is an athletic version of GV?
He's very athletic and supposed to be an excellent defender who gets a lot of steals. If Greivis were very athletic and an excellent defender who got a lot of steals- in addition to the rest of his game...he'd be a top 5 PG. If that is what MCW becomes then he will be an excellent player.
