It's not hate if it's true. I guess you can lump me in the hater bucket because I don't see him as anything but a journeyman. If they are building the future around Rivers then our future is bleak. If Vasquez or Aminu had the same exact season that Rivers had, all of Rivers' defenders would be here bashing them. Actually, they had better seasons and they are still bashing them. I know he's only 19. Well guess what? He should have stayed in college if he wasn't ready. He's a fan favorite so everyone chooses to ignore the bad and focus on the marginal improvements that he made. If the NBA was a 100 story building, Rivers started out in the basement and made it to the lobby. That's how marginal his improvement was. Furthermore, I've asked this time and time again. If he was was a Bobcat, how many of you would be saying that he will be a quality player in the future? The answer is none of you. You'd be just like the rest of the sports world pointing out how historically bad his rookie season was.

Rivers shooting will improve and when it does, watch out, and a little more strength thru contact will get some AND 1s

rivers final 16 games, 49% from the field, 43% from 3. I say he gonna be fine.

You're judging a 19 year old rookie based on his first season? Even after Demps and Monty told you he would be a project? That's just not intelligent.

I don't expect Rivers to break out until his 3rd year. I think he needs at least 2-3 years to really become a consistent performer. Aminu was pretty bad his first two seasons and made big strides this past year.

I'm saying give the kid a chance because he is so young and has a lot of room to grow, while he is saying Rivers had a bad rookie year, so all he can ever be is a journeyman. There is absolutely no truth to this. There is a world of difference between a 19 year old rookie and a 23 year old rookie. And those last few games that "don't count," haha, that's all that matters man, and that's why you are missing the point. Rivers' goal wasn't to produce last year, it was to improve, which he did.

if he is gonna get better he needs to be baptized by fire, I say get what u can for GV and throw Rivers in as the starter, in 2 years he could be a stud.

what isn't intelligent is comparing a player who wasn't that great or efficient in any aspect of the game in college, in his short nba career, or in any real higher level of competition, to Tony Parker. Expecting him to be a 6th man, to be our clutch player down the stretch, our scoring punch starting or off the bench, or our floor general are expectations based on hope more than his actual potential. Where are all these expectations coming from? Comparing Austin Rivers to Tony Parker is insulting to Parker and unfair to Rivers because that is a ridiculous comparison. He has shown nothing at all, that highlight reel of him? 5-6 plays dispersed around hitting wide open threes or fast break layups, because he never showed the ability to hit a contested shot from anywhere on the floor consistently. People always spout out these stats from a short span of games where he did alright. He shot well during that stretch yea but only managed to get to double figures twice (11 and 10), with about a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, also fouling more than he would assist or rebound as well, still getting over 20mins a game, that isn't that good where as people are talking as if he balled out for a couple weeks. I think people are literally blindly cheering and chanting for this guy.

I don't think he'll be terrible but I mean come on, he isn't good, and won't be for a year or two if he ever does get good

I don't necessarily praise Aminu but I do point out the hypocrisy that people always say that Aminu's jumper is forever broken but Rivers' is fixable. Aminu has better form and can shoot ft's. This is just one instance of Rivers' fans being hypocritical. To stay on point I do criticize Aminu and I believe my entire stance on Aminu has been get rid of him if its an upgrade. I just don't think that Buddinger, Evans, Chandler, etal are that much of an upgrade. To be quite honest, I'm pretty rough on all the Pelican players because I frankly believe that this team lacks talent. We have a bunch of good locker room guys that hustle. I want the dude that might be a ****** bag but he'll go out and get 25pts and 10 rebs. The Spurs and Grizzly have a bunch of good dudes in the locker room but at the end of the day, they have ballers. The Pels only have half of that equation.

It's really an easy concept, and I've explained it multiple times, so this is the last because I know your M.O.

Demps and Monty both said Rivers would be a project when we drafted him. They told fans like you and UptownFuz to shut your mouths for a few years while he develops and to stop crying about how bad he would be at the beginning because it would take time to develop him. Still, you people are complaining relentlessly about how bad he did his rookie year, and how he didn't perform statistically, yet you continue to ignore the steps he took prior to his hand injury. It is what it is. You enjoy it, so go and have fun. Like I said, I'm not playing your game. I said what I have to say, and I'm standing by it.

There are things he shown in his rookie season that lead him to believe that, things that wont just go away, as far as his negatives, i see them as easy fixes

Rivers playing PG next year is a upgrade over Vasquez. Vasquez just can't guard most starting PGs..They always blow past him. He is a very good backup tht can create off the bench and dominate backup point guards. Rivers will get better every year bc of his work ethic. Excited for the pels future! Should be exciting!

Where have I said I don't like Rivers as a prospect? The point is you are bashing someone for doing the very samething you are doing.

It's a blog site you don't want somebody to call you out on your hypocrisy then don't be a hypocrite.

Vasquez is the perfect 6th or 7th man, great off the bench, let gordon and rivers play together, that is some scary stuff

This is what's funny I haven't even given my opinion on Rivers yet comments are being made as if I have. I'm not as high on Rivers as some, but I think he can really help this team moving forward. I think he'll be best in the 6th man role where he can freelance without disrupting the starters.

Which is why I want him to start next season, so he can develop quicker, honestly Vasquez isnt our future PG and obviously we arent competing next season, so you need to develop who you can, before its too late
