Why not go all in with Oladipo

Oladipo can't create from the perimeter. He will likely never be that guy. Great complementary player though. If you draft him and get rid of Gordon. We'd still need a playmaker on the perimeter as Oladipo will never a guy to force the issue.

So I wouldn't call him a replacement for Gordon. Gordon's replacement needs to be a playmaker.

I don't know if I would be as definitive as never, but it's well known creating isn't Victor's strength. I think he has the tools to become good at it. I felt the same way about MKG last year. When you can slash and finish at a good rate there's some hope.

As far as being Gordon's replacement it would be going in a different direction at the position, but I'm not sure it'll be a massive downgrade if at all. Just having him in the court consistently is an upgrades in a lot of ways.

I'll go on record stating that he'll never be an isolation player. His mindset and style won't suddenly change at the next level. I see his game being similar to kawhi Leonard at the next level. Which is a huge praise.

As for Gordon's replacement. It doesn't have to be at the SG position. PG and SF are possibilities. Maybe even a SF/PF type of tweener. For all we know, Rivers becomes at answer in time. But I'm really hoping for a SF that can create and score in isolation.

Keep Gordon, do not take on more bad contracts, never over pay for old players. I guess that is easier said than done. I am sure Demps is going to do the best he can.

Jordan was a great athlete and a monster dunker too. Sometimes there are more things to a player's development than just their physical tools. And those things are rarely quantitative.

OBVIOUSLY, there are other degrees of separation that were apparent from Jordan even in college. But all the same...

He has more JuJu in him than what he has of Jordan or Wade, something I have read over here many times.
I'm just saying this cause many ppl jizz his pants with anyone who is athletic and can dunk.

I think this draft isn't as talented as people think, we'll see someone draft the next Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons in the lottery. Hopefully, we can avoid that and get a great player.

Yeah, but every draft has those guys scattered around somewhere. What you'd be saying is that there are a lot of those guys in this draft or the players people like aren't that good.

I want Gordon to be the guy. He has the ability to be everything the team needs next to Davis. Very capable defender, attacks the rim with ease, good jump shot, good ball handling. draws a lot of fouls.

Unfortunately, only Gordon really knows how much he wants to play for this team and only Gordon truly knows how injured he really is at any given time. Throw in his large contract and that he can opt out in two years and go elsewhere without it being matched this time... this team has some tough decisions coming up that will be important for the building blocks during Davis's early prime years.

I'm OK with trading him if the team feels at this point that Gordon won't be the guy they want next to Davis. There's no one in this draft that I think can be as good as Gordon could/should be though. But they should get a capable starter with their pick, and who knows what they could get from trading Gordon (probably nothing more than a protected first round pick and a player with somewhat of a matching salary for the upcoming season).

Something else to remember too is that Davis and Rivers are just as young, if not younger, than anyone this team will be able to draft this year. That includes McLemore (considering that he's really two years out of high school) and Shabazz.

great post, i agree 100% gordon can score like mclemore and defend like oladipo, if he can stay on the court is the question.
