What did Bargnani do?

He's from rome so bound to be slow of thought, and with that face that's a guarantee, but WHY do that?
Wow....
O my...
Yeah I don't know what Bargnani was thinking there. That game could've been over and won in regulation but instead they ended up winning it in double OT.
That was the play that JVG was talking about too.
Obligatory Monty sucks at his job post.
Lmao...what an idiot.
Pitiful coaching at the end of the Blazers game.
You have got to extend the game with 20 seconds left, 3 timeouts left, down 1. You foul immediately, call timeout after Blazers' free throws to advance the ball, drive to the hoop for 2 points, and repeat twice. The odds are that they miss one of the six free throws, so you are left with needing a two instead of the desperation 3's that we attempted at the end of the game. This is basic coaching strategy. We definitely need an upgrade at coach. This is not amateur hour.
You smell that? Smell like pants roasting on a hot seat.
If we don't make the playoffs, god bless ya Monty, but we don't need your brand of basketball here.
This thread is bogus. This team was a marginal playoff team at the beginning of the season and has had to play though injuries to several key players. If they're .500 at the All Star break and 2 games back, what more could you have expected considering the injuries and youth?
I dont think there is any way Monty gets fired. If this team stays healthy, they will win 40-45 games. When they have been healthy, there are signs of a very good team that could be great as they play together more. If injuries continue to bite the team and they only win 35, then the injuries are a built in excuse.
He aint getting fired, so unless the point is just to vent or try to show that you are smarter than the coach, I dont see the point in continuing this thread. Other things we can spend our energy and intelligence on.
Ok so let assume the core stays healthy and we don't win 40-45 games then what?
I don't know if anybody thinks their smarter than Williams, however there are times where his coaching decisions leave something to be desired. Mistakes you rarely see the proven coaches make.
If the core stays healthy, and we dont win 40-45, it is possible that he can go. But I dont think THAT is possible. Still, I think it would have to be 35 or so for him to get fired. And it isnt just a matter of wins and losses, but whether there was progress after the All-Star break.
Proven coaches make big mistakes all the time, but their teams win enough to keep people from freaking out. Was Monty suddenly great when Ryno first came back or did this thread start dying out because there were wins?
Some people here blame Monty, I blame his low IQ players. He yells the same things that all of us yell over the course of a game. You think he wants Tyrke to pass it to Austin on a fast break when he has AD open for a dunk? Did he tell Jrue to commit a charge last night when we had all the momentum? Was he the reason Tyreke's two 5-footers went in and out?
If the Pelicans win last night, nobody is talking on this thread today. This team is good with its full arsenal, and getting better. Guys are still young and need to understand the small things that are the difference between wins and losses. I know the front office understands all this, so the thought of him getting fired just seems absurd to me. I look forward to revisiting this thread in a year.
2 things...
1. Monty just got a new contract, and Benson is NOT gonna can him just to pay him for a couple years and pay some other coach.
2. This team is still viewed as a "young team", and aside from the injuries we're still not the most talented... yet we're still competitive.
I think Monty gets to coach out his contract, and if much doesn't change by then, then yeah he won't be asked back. Some of you guys must think we're the most talented team in the league. There's a reason why many "experts" felt we wouldn't make the playoffs, because we're not as good as some of y'all think we are. We have some pieces, but we need to add more, and get rid of some.
Honestly I don't think he gets canned unless we completely bottom out. Even then I think he has a chance.
Of course they do it wasn't my intent to make it seems like they don't. Pop(whom I view as one of the greatest coaches all-time) made a mistake that IMO cost the Spurs a title last year. However they limit those mistakes.Quote:

So are you blaming Demps? He is the one who acquired almost every person on the roster. I agree in basketball the players have to have some level of IQ because things aren't as scripted like in football. We watched CP make Scott almost look competent.Quote:

I can't speak for everybody, but win or loss I had a problem with not fouling asap and Morrow not being in the game. Not the end of the world. Monty will get his chance to quiet his detractors one way or the other.Quote:

Dell acquired guys knowing they were low IQ at the time. Most 23 year olds are. But Dell and Monty dont see it as 2013-14 or Bust. It seems like some fans do. IQ can be, and almost always is, improved. It takes time. You dont take years of bad habits and fix them overnight. You dont go to Jrue and say "Stop shooting mid-range jumpers." and then he magically stops shooting them. You dont give Tyreke a couple of nuggets about off ball defense, and then it suddenly becomes second nature.
Again, this year seems so important because we are living through it now. But years from now, we will barely remember this year. But the lessons these guys learn this year will show up down the line.
I just realized something, this is the first time this core is playing together, they're young plus the main guys played on bad teams that didnt help them prepare to be on a winning team. I'll guess I'll have to wait then, gosh darn it!:idoh: lol but seriously this isn't as easy it intially looked after the moves Dell made. It'll take some time, but look at the bright side, between now and then AD will only get better ;)
