If it's between Valentine and Korkmaz at #15, I'm going with Korkmaz.

If Valentine measures bigger then what we expect I would draft him in a heartbeat. If he has the size to play SF he could be a perfect fit for us. Valentine reminds me a lot of Evan Turner. I think he will be a very similiar player in the NBA which isn't a bad thing. Should have a better 3 point shot but might not be as athletic.

Valentine has the height I thought he would but his wingspan is impressive. He has the body to play SF and I wouldn't mind playing him there. Ingram has a ridiculous wingspan and is going to be a terror defensively in the NBA. That kid would be so perfect for this team. Going to be very similiar Kevin Durant offensively but a better defender IMO. Coach K says he could be the teams PG if he played him there and I don't doubt it. Simmons is still my favorite player in this draft but Ingram is right there behind him.
Yea Ingram would be incredible here. He is the perfect SF for our system. Has the potential to become the best two way SF in the NBA which is saying a lot. He is the Anthony Davis of SFs IMO. Having Davis/Ingram as our 1a/1b with Jrue would put this team on a different level. Add a solid two way SG and this team is in business.
Dunn is not a good fit for this team at all. He is 22 years old shooting 69% from FT while being a poor 3 point shooter. He turns over the ball more then any top prospect. With his experience and to still have these problems is very concerning. To top it all off he has already had two major shoulder surgeries while we have been the most injury plagued team in the NBA. He has been way over rated by this board and will be a bust.
I will say like this
I see 6 interesting players in top 10 (Ingram, Simmons, Bender, Hield, Dunn, Murray). I like two bigs (Sabonis and Poeltl) - but still do not think that C is our position of needs.
Of course somebody might jump to top 6 but if end of the season/lottery won't go right I will trade 7th pick for two pick in the 10s...
I see nice players in the 15-21 range... --- Valentine, Luwawu,Prince, Korkmaz, Chriss.
So do not want to speculate now - first finish the season at 6th and wait for the lottery...
wow - today Sabonis is 5th in Draft Express...
i will change Fournier with Bazemore and I am fine with Your nasty team :)
btw - Sabonis was TOP-5 not in DRaftExpress but in NBADraftnet
I am not sure who will be cheaper.
I see Baze as more all around player
He is more SG/SF than Evan who is more SG. He does not have a SF body...
But yeah, I like him more :)
Sorry for not giving advanced stats :)
If we land the 7th pick then id trade that with our worst 2nd rounder for two late firsts if Simmons, Ingram, Murray Dunn or Heild are off the board.
Give me Valentine, Chriss and Hammons and I'll be satisfied.
EDIT: he is smaller and lighter than Fournier :]
Yep. Boston or Suns
Denver could have 2 in the teens as well plus we know the GM.
I got ya. So they are listing him as a shooting guard.
So he is slightly undersized for the 3 still but bigger then average as a 2 but lacks high end athleticism.
Will be interesting to see how Valentine grades out at the combine. His athleticism is my biggest concern. But due to his other skill sets it might be more then enough to compensate.
How will Thon Maker impact the draft? IMO, he will be a top ten pick. He has New Orleans connections.
I'm admittedly not knowledgeable about draft prospects. I don't follow college ball at all. Plus I still trust that Dell would make a better decision than me.
With that said, I want NOTHING to do with Maker. A 7' tall super offensive raw project that will take years to develop is not something I'm interested in.
As far as Valentine goes, his measurements seem similar to QPon. I don't think he'd have an issue guarding smaller SFs but could run into trouble with bigger guys. I suppose that's where Cunningham would come in and help.
That's not to make a judgement about whether to draft him or not. I have no idea.
Yea I'm right there with you. I wish he was 6'9 haha. He would likely be right there with our pick. Would be a great year to draft where we will likely be if you could just add a few inches to both Heild and Valentine. A lot is out on size and is a nice thing to have but definitely is not going to define their careers. I really think Valentine is going to be very similiar to Evan Turner but possibly a better shooter.
I'm not going to argue that he's not a subpar shooter. But he's a fantastic defender which is exactly what this team needs. People crowd the paint on Providence. If they had the proper shooters around him he would have blown up big time.
Assist to turnover ratio. Final college season.

He had the leading scorer in that conference on his team. You could say any PG would blow up with a bunch of great shooters around him. He's a junior who's is 22 years old and his shooting along with decision making is very concerning. You can make a list of guys over the years for both sides of the TO arguement so that really doesn't mean much. I like Dunn but he has been over rated big time by a lot of people that saw some box scores. We need much more then just a good defender. We already have a very good one in Jrue. We could have Jrue play SG but I don't see that as the best option. His injuries are another huge red flag especially for a team like us who can't afford to draft someone with two major surgeries with a good chance of those happening again in the future. He isn't off my board but he's not in the top 5.
He's been overrated by some people that watch box scores. And properly rated by people that have watched him take over games and have a great feeling about his game on the next level.
Yea I'm not saying he is a bad prospect at all. He is a great one like quite a few others but I just think he has been over rated a little. Not saying anyone is wrong and I'm right. I don't think the fit is best but we could definitely make it work. I just think he has some big red flags not fixing some issues at 22 years old. They are issues that will not get worse at the next level if they aren't improved on. His injuries are really what concerns me the most though. So many people have complained about Dell signing Gordon and other moves with guys who then got hurt. So with the most important draft pick this franchise has had in a while how is two major shoulder surgeries not something that we should be worried about?
I'd pick Dunn over Murray 100 times out of 100. If we're sitting at 6 and Hield, Bender and the top two are gone, I'd be interested in hearing your alternative. Gotta take a chance on a franchise player over just another average guard.
Can't say enough about dat leadership.
If Ingram, Simmons, Hield, and Bender are gone, I would pick up the phone and see if I could land a SF or SG that we wouldn't be able to land without having a top 6 pick. If it doesn't work out, give me Dunn.
He's not a great shooter, that true, but he's more than willing in spite of it. Which leads me to believe he'll gladly put the work in once he's no longer bound by NCAA rules and having to go to classes. And turnovers is just a part of the game when you're a guard who plays a very aggressive attacking game. He's a playmaker. Yeah, he's similar to Jrue...but I also consider him a future upgrade to Jrue, so we can take the trade off.
That being said. Minny probably takes him instead anyways.
Go and hear the podcast on BSS with MM.
You will not be happy to hear how our FO might be thinking about draft prospects...

Anyone think that the Pel's may trade their 6/7 pick for Dario Saric?
IMO there is a possibility that Dell loves him.
But we are not 100% certain who Saric will become. Or will he come to the nba in 2016
I think that Dell will prefer to draft senior in Hiled type...
MM has some insider info - everybody knows that.
What he heard and what he thinks - he will be surprised if NOP will take a Freshman in Murray type. Pels will rather take Senior (which makes sense).
Of course when NO will have 1-2 pick than they will be stupid not to take potential transcendent guy...
Seniors are - f.e. Hield, Valentine, Prince, Johnson, Brogdon, Hammons and Payton.
He thinks that Pels will try to trade a pick to take Butler from Bulls.
All this podcast and MM insider look is in the same 'mood' as last time - that our franchise is a mess.
This franchise's goal is not to win a championship but to earn profits as a business organisation (that is why we hired Gentry - to provide sexy basketball and to make people come to SKC, and not to win championship/ be as good as possible as a main goal)
Like or dislike MM - please go to the BSS podcast.
It is good to hear Michael - Ryan combo again.
I don't see why we would not be happy with our front office wanting a senior. I think we all could have predicted this team would like to have Heild if we don't get the top 2 picks. Only so many upperclassman at the top of the draft anyway. Also I would be the happiest person on earth if we could move multiple 1st round picks for Butler. Anybody who wouldn't want to see us trade for Butler is a fool. Guy is one of the best two way players in the NBA and would give us the closest thing to Kawhi Leaonrd in the NBA. Jrue/Butler/Davis is a big 3 you can build around. Also having the ability to add one more stud FA this or next off season puts us in serious championship contention.
I like younger players just cause they should be in the league longer but really not that important to me. As for Butler, I like him and would love him on the team but I'm not willing to ransom the team to get him. If I was Dell I'd try to swing something like this years 1st, next years first or 2018 first (push for top 3 protected and trade would have to happen during or after the draft because you can't trade consecutive picks), Treke, and a big for Butler and their first this year. I'd throw in other things like a second, another player like Ajinca or even Asik (both work in trade machine). The Bulls could be losing Noah and I think Gasol has an opt out, so they could need a big.
I like young veterans but I just hate not ever drafting anyone to keep this team young and hungry. With this option we can still pick a player in FA like Bazemore, Barnes or any decent player and then draft best player available. If a big like Stone or Ellinson fall that would be one option, or if Lulawu or Marquise Chriss fall would give us a nice wing.
Jrue, frazier
Bazemore, BJD
Butler, Qpon
Davis, Ellinson/Chriss
Asik, (pray for Hammond in the 2nd Round)
1-4 would be awesome and the Defense should be out of this world especially with Qpon first off the bench at sg/sf.
I would prefer Butler to a rookie because the rookie is still an unknown. With Butler you know that you are getting a top 10 player. And he is young (26 is not as old as people think).
I love Butler. I'd push really hard for this year's pick and 2018.
I'm not a big fan of back to back picks again. Not when we just got first pick in 3 years.
Can we trade NEXT year's pick at least?
I worry about Butler's durability.
Nice, so dropping Evans and Ajinca's salaries and adding Butler's, you'd have enough to still sign Bazemore? That would be friggin awesome. Lock-down defense at all positions, some depth with Frazier/Pondexter/Cunningham/Babbitt? led second unit. Can you imagine how much more fun it would be to watch the Pels with starting and star caliber wing players?! Honestly, if healthy and they gel, that line-up could make a run in the playoffs for years to come.
Our fan base is so delusional. We are not in anyway getting Butler. There are 20 teams that can trump any offer we would give.
