Loved me some Ayon!
Bring him back Dell... all a part of your master plan to trade him for Ryno only to team them up again.
Reverse Layup city!!!!!
Stiemsma is fine. He blocks a bunch of shots, plays decent post defense, generates steals, rebounds acceptably, can hit from the midrange, and fouls really hard and annoys the other team. Those are most of the things you want from a rotation big.
And the overpaid thing is is out of control if we're discussing guys on a 1 year contract at the room as overpaid. It's pretty much the smallest non-minimum contract you can offer if you're at the cap. How can that be terrible?
If you can avoid having an actively terrible minimum big like Ryan Hollins play minutes for for you, I'd pay Stiemsma 5 million. Real talk.
But yeah, I love Goose. He understands off-ball movement and cutting so well. He has great hands. He is one of the smartest passing big men in the league. Whether it's with us or otherwise, I really hope he gets on a team with quality players, because he's really fun to watch.

If Goose clears waivers, we can sign him for a nonguaranteed league minimum. We have 13 roster spots already (assuming Roberts and Withey are on the roster). Hopefully #14 is Oden. If Goose comes nonguaranteed, we could have him as #15 and waive him if a spot is needed before January.
Greg Oden touched down in Vegas tonight for those curious... (thanks to his co-passenger)

Nothing says "Welcome to Vegas" quite like two men in spandex holding up signs that say "Welcome to Vegas"

Oden is eating Burger King. I've eaten there too recently! His heart is in New Orleans!
His heart is with the Kings!
It's been a while since I saw the BK King.
I cant feel for him like that. He loved the attention when he was in college. I read a bunch of magazine articles in high school about him being interviewed when he went to OSU. I think he hates the spotlight because of his knees and media labeling him as a "bust".
Oh yeah definitely agree. He was a man amongst boys when he played.
Anyone still in vegas to give us updates on what's going on? MM?
Did Oden sign with us yet?
Party never dies.
Surprised oden let him take that pic. Had to see him.
Guess someone isn't a fan of Key and Peele. :huh2:
any news? lol
Dallas just resigned Bernard James so that's another team off the list
I don't think Dallas was on his radar anyway... I'd say Us, MIA and ATL are the 3 teams that have the best shot.
I believe he's going to Miami.
ATL just brought in another big man too... I would say us, Spurs & MIA, not in that order. MIA & SAS have backup plans on Oden and now some people in Miami think they are leaning toward using the exception on Mo Williams who can contribute right away. I think we are the most genuinely interested team IMO and I hope Oden sees that
The 'onion'...
Something stinks! Hmm...
I think we get Ayon if we miss out on Oden
Guys, as much as I liked ayon... He kinda sucked....
the onion also has a story about Lebron James announcing his retirement.
Ayon is probably the type of player who would really benefit by playing on a good team. His passing skills and finishing near the basket would really translate.
I do want Oden, but if we can't land him, Ayon would be a tremendous addition.

Jrue and Ryan are on the oden bandwagon
Any of you insider people have any scoop on the Big O?
If he does... its for a chance at a ring. I say this for a few reasons...
1. MIA is gonna expect him to contribute now... they don't have time to wait for him.
2. You can't go to South beach and play for the Heat, and expect to not get hammered by the media and the fans
3. He will have turned down more money AND more stability.
How could we want Ayon?? every single player on our roster is better than Ayon lol.
Greg Stiensma is a better rim protector ... Lance Thomas is just worse I agree.
Having Ayon as your 5th big, I don't think it gets any better then that. Does suck he would be the oldest on the team though.
Thought I heard that Monty was on his way home today. If so, why have Oden go to Vegas, or was all of that just a rumor? I wonder if meeting even occurred.
I'm kind of surprised that Marc Stein and Jeff Goodman, the ones that wrote the article about Oden's workout and his supposedly "long-anticipated" meeting, haven't followed up on this. If they have, they surely haven't written or said anything about it. The guy posted the picture of Oden on a plane heading to Vegas. He could have met with Monty and company this morning or earlier today and then Monty could have headed home afterwards. I guess the question is if they were meeting, could Greg have just met Monty and company in New Orleans? I don't know. I guess we'll know soon enough. I HOPE we know soon enough so we can move on either way.
Wouldn't quite call us "Rebuilding", but definitely not a win a championship now environment and far less pressure. It'd be a nice happy medium for Oden where he feels there is plenty of talent & a team thats still young & growing
Bill Duffy, Greg Oden's agent, to http://t.co/yMtDVeU0Z9, "There might be less pressure if he tries this with a team that’s rebuilding."
