If I remember correctly it had something to do with Casspi's religion. I think the speculation was that Casspi is a very outspoken about his religion and so was Monty. Their religions clashed. So basically it was because he didn't feel he would be good fit in the locker room.

idk but i think we are in good position for someone to come here or find someone who can do the same as jrue at a lower pay.......if jrue can play at a high level consistently then im good with him...im just worried that once he sign then he will go back to off and on jrue...

This wasn't about Jrue. Don't you think this franchise instantly became a hot destination now? How hard could it be to convince a top tier player to play with Anthony damn Davis and Demarcus damn Cousins? Plus they were all just here for the all-star game to experience the city during Mardi Gras. I saw a few players and celebs at a parade myself.

I think with Jrue, it's just wait and see. Can he keep his current level of play and health? I highly doubt Dell has crowned Jrue his PG of the future already. This current version of the franchise hasn't done anything to warrant that yet.

The ONLY constant that needs appeasing right now was Anthony Davis.

Vivek loved Buddy. But decision about accepting our offer was probably made during game of rising stars. Where Buddy was playing great.

Also on basketball insiders there was an information that 2nd first rounder was included in Dells offer.
But after Boogie agents rant (that he wont sign extension) DD decided not to give 2019 pick. Cause the risk of Boogie walking is bigger. He gave second rounder instead.

Yeah sure we have but what point guard that's jrues age and is as good or better can we actually get that isn't under contract and from every indication jrue is that point guard of the future every time Dell talks about the team it's we need to get ad and jrue help and we can just agree to disagree on if we made the trade just for ad or for ad and jrue both

This trade was even mentioned in the Polish newspaper I read and they never write about NBA :)

Guys like George Hill and Jeff Teague are going to receive salaries over $20m. That's just new reality. With whole not fully healed leg affair seemingly behind him Jrue is gonna get over $20m as well, maybe even $25m, but with Pels limited resources and capspace all you have left is to prey and think of England. Defense is half the game, and you need as much shooting as possible around Bros, so with both AD and Boogie improving their skillsets over the years you can live with Jrue not being a dominant playmaker.

You wonder if this could be the "better offer" that Vlade Divac was talking about. Maybe it wasn't a better offer from another team, but a better offer from the Pels until Boogie's agent spoke up.

Yep. Pels were originally okay including 2019 but then his agents got involved and drove down the other offers from everyone, and Dell pulled the 2019 off the table. Which is gutsy. I think people would have even called it a steal with that pick and for him to pull it and not budge is praise worthy

Some of the stuff that's come out in podcasts by the national guys is there are a lot more teams that would have liked to get in on Cousins if he was going cheap, but the Kings decided what they wanted in a trade for Cousins and only contacted those teams with something they wanted. So it sounds like there weren't that many teams to scare off and I'm not sure if any actually were. Supposedly the Lakers and the Suns didn't want to trade the main player that the Kings wanted in return.

This sounds about right to me.... it seems like they were looking at Booker, Ingram, and Hield, and we were the only one's willing to give one up (Of course, it's a little silly to have those 3 side by side).

From the ones I have heard, I think Orlando and PHX offered better deals from my POV, but apparently Sacro thinks way more of Buddy than I do

Cousins fits way better in New Orleans than he ever would in Orlando or Phoenix.

Wonder what Orlando was offering. If it was Vucevic + Fournier and a first rounder, I probably would have preferred a three-team deal with those assets coming to us, Boogie going to the Magic and Hield + our pieces and picks going to Kings. Just don't totally trust Cousins, for all his talent. Pulling the '19 first rounder is what makes the deal work, in my opinion. If Cousins is a bad fit (on the court or off), or if the organization ends up not wanting to give him a max contract, the price going forward isn't ruinous. I think we valued the deal correctly to get Cousins for playoff chance this year, an extended look next to AD next year and enticing Jrue. If the pairing doesn't work, it's a failure no doubt. But it's sunk costs you can live with losing, especially if you mitigate by dealing Cousins by the deadline (assuming it's obvious it won't work by the All Star break).

I get the point of taking those assets, but I don't love the Vuc-davis pairing. I also love the inclusion of cassipi...I think the biggest thing about this pairing is that boog is a plus-defender. Finally, we don't have to choose a center who's completely inept at one side of the floor (Including Okafor, Lopez, Vucevic also).
